I explored new trails with a friend by the rivah in Richmond this morning, followed by $1 mimosas at an Irish pub. Not half bad. ;)

Tried mapmyrun for the first time today (I'm woefully behind), and I guess I thought I'd show off a little because my first ten miles were negative splits ending basically at my 5K pace. Needless to say I averaged 18 min miles for the last four miles and wondered periodically if they would ever find my body if I died on…

Did the trick for me - I have my fingers crossed for you!!!

decided to add our 4.5 mile Sunday walk, because I was sore the next day ;) ticker isn't updating though so I'll add it in the morning

@_nikkiwolf_ not sure yet about a discount but that was definitely the idea. Less running ... uh oh. Wait - where else can I steal time from? #rethinking just a couple TM miles this evening with my daughter - who ran a whole mile and is now eating a healthy dinner she made all by herself :)

I'm late to the party! Hope everyone is well this month - can't wait to catch up (22 pages by the 9th!)! I'm in for 85 this month - 3 this morning.

Rest day on account of WE JUST GOT A KITTEN!! Yippee!

@ddmom0811 Yes! I can hardly believe it, but it was a year ago! What a long year it has been, and the injury (and hobbling around on crutches - and then getting an upper body injury because of the crutches, lol) was all kind of a metaphor for my life at the time. After 15 years and a lengthy, difficult time making my…

Tom the Russian massage therapist just unleashed some kind of beautiful torture on my body. He said he needs more time lol. Piriformis. Ow.

Great 5.5 run through farmland and over bridges. Gorgeous day.

Good luck @Elise4270 !

Thanks for the tip - that could easily have been me!

Running my first in November! Feel free to add me. :)

After some research, self-reflection, and excellence guidance from this thoughtful, experienced community, I decided during a brief hiatus from running to find a 5K in late May and focus on that while dropping off another five pounds or so before beginning marathon training. I have nothing to lose by doing that, as I…

the timing ... this just came across my FB feed. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/10/08/crossing-the-finish-line-25-pounds-lighter-guilt-and-all/?WT.mc_id=2016-KWP-AUD_DEV&WT.mc_ev=click&ad-keywords=AUDDEVREMARK&kwp_0=85253&kwp_4=449729&kwp_1=253488&_r=0

Printing. Thanks to all of you!

yep - sounds like that's the best plan. But if I feeeeeel like running extra long, it's not the end of the world either, lol.
-
with the gels - what is it improving? decreased cramping? increased energy?
-
I should clarify: I'm not losing the ten pounds for aesthetic reasons but rather to improve running and reduce pounding to my joints. Now, I won't mind if I look better but ... ;)
-
rest day today - back at it tomorrow. that's enough rest. :)
-
wonderful - thank you!

Thought this would bring a smile to some (all?) of you today: a friend I hadn't seen in a while who isn't crazy about working out told me that she'd run two miles the other day. Turns out she calls what she does on the elliptical "running." ;)

I pictured a Chippendales move, lol ... Seriously, you are an inspiration to me - all of you who muscle through the full marathon and beyond. Incredible mental fortitude! Thanks for sharing.

Well, it was the 14 mile run on Saturday that I believe may be the culprit, but because I ran 6 on Sunday, I kind of wonder whether it was the aggregate weekend run - and maybe I should have just done 3 or 4 on Sunday. My weekly last week was 35.75. Thanks for the input @kristinegift - maybe it's just more adjustment? I'm…

legs like lead again today - seems too long to be still recovering from my 20 miles over the weekend - do you think?
-
Ran six miles in Colonial Williamsburg today - sometimes I think I'm the only one who waves and smiles at everyone. Why is it so hard for some people to smile? LOL ... it makes me feel like a goofball. Maybe I should run with a propeller hat.

@litsy3 Random - yep, pretty much, I'm afraid, though I've run competitively before and have a general sense of the dos and don'ts. I do keep it to one hard workout, though there are glimpses within other workouts, if I'm feeling really good. I'm not good at the slow run, although intellectually I understand the benefit of…

I appreciate this input. This is where I am (first marathon in November, increasing miles, did 14 yesterday which is 39% of my weekly mileage). I'm just taking it easy - not following a plan yet - trying to increase and be comfortable with it. My question is this: I understand from multiple sources that now's not the time…

Marathon training Apparently wipes you out. I need more protein.
