I agree with the other pals. I too suffered from lower back pain and have a desk job. After a talk with my physician I started working on strengthening my core. When I do my cardio which consist of a stairclimber or running, I make sure to hold my stomach tight during the whole workout. Also I've added in yoga. Fortunately…

My wake up call was last year April. I had my yearly doctors appointment. She took my weight and I was at 189 lbs, and I am 5'2" tall!! She might as well have said 200 lbs because that is the number that I saw in my head. At that time, I wore a tight size 14, but I refused to buy close any bigger. It was at that moment in…

I try not to bring foods into my house that I know I can't resist. I do have children, but I'll buy the things that they like, as long as it is not something that I can't resist. I try to limit the junk snacks for them as well and opt for fruit and veggies. I figure, we all can benefit from this. I'm trying to create a…

Hello all. I would love to add as many 40+ pals as possible and vice versa. I am 44 years old (will be 45 in May). I've been on here for while but serious bout it for about a year. I've slowly lost 25 pounds and would like to lose about 12 to 15 more. I am also in full blown menopause. I am on here everyday and I always…

I am 5'2" and currently weigh 157. I wear a size 10 pant. My goal weight is 145 lbs and I hope to be in a size 8. I started out at 189 lbs and size 16. I feel really great with my loss so far. Looking forward to reaching goal.

I am the same way. I started out at 189 lbs and was bursting out of a US size 14/16. I am now down to 157 lbs and I believe I am in a US 9/10. I can't wear any 14's anymore but luckily I had some size 12's in m closet. My goal weight is 145 so I am about 12 pounds away. When I reach goal, I am treating myself to beautiful…

I am 45 years old. I'm 5'2". My highest weight ever was 189 lbs. When I started MFP, I was 182 lbs. My current weight is 161 lbs. My goal weight is 145 lbs.

I use Runtastic for iphone and I LOVE IT. I use it for my power walks and runs. Also when I exercise. The really nice part is that it uploads to MFP automatically. To count my steps throughout the day, I use a clip on pedometer called Omron. You'll have to check out www.runtastic.com. Its awesome and very easy. Your wife…

Absolutely right. Get yourself a good pedometer (every busy mom needs one). Then you can see how many steps you took and literally how many miles you did. Then you will be able to realize your workout and log it. That will make you feel better.

This is an awesome thread. It's interesting reading everyone's stories. For me, it was when I went to the doctor, stepped on the scale and weighed 189 lbs! I'm only 5'2". I knew I had gained weight, but seeing the number was the wake up call. To me, it was too close to 200 lbs. With the support of MFP, the weight is coming…

Try using the "slimmer belt". Below is the link on Walmart. That is what I've been using. Granted I've only lost 20 lbs, but my stomach was huge. I actually used two - one on my lower stomach and one on my upper - LOL. It seems to be working for me. My skin is definitely shrinking. It's only about $20 so even if it doesn't…

Hi Fiona. It was so funny to read your post. I could have been looking in a mirror. I am the exact same way. When I am down or depressed or having a bad day, people rarely know it. I am not the one walking around moaning and complaining and I am the one who is always there for others. But as I have gotten older, I have…

On my next birthday I will be 45 years old. I want to be the best looking 45 year old woman you've ever seen. Think Samantha Jones on Sex and the City! I want my children's friends to say "That's your mom!! DAMNNNN!!!" LOL

I agree with everyone else. Start out by making small changes and definitely PLAN before going grocery shopping. Look up recipes that you might want to try. Also write down the current foods that you fix and see how you can substitute ingredients with healthier options. Next thing you know it will become second nature.

Hello Nickyfm. I binge as well. If I have something in my house that I absolute love, I will eat it until it is gone. My answer for this is to not have the items in my home that I know I cannot resist. I try to cook everyday and eat as healthy as I can. I still enjoy my meals, just in smaller portions. Drinking lots and…

Yes, same here!! It's back to work for me today as well and time for a fresh start to the New Year!! 2 lbs is not bad for the holiday. I'm ready to get busy for 2013. WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Feel free to add me as well. I am a divorced mother of 2 children. I have been on the site for a while but seriously using it since about September. I have lost 17 pounds so far and want to lose about 20 more. This site is a really great tool and I think it is very effective. I have done weight watchers online in the past…
