Hi! I've been struggling with my weight since my teens. I'm in my 50s now and have nearly 200 to lose. I lost about 90 a few years ago (using MFP), but stress and complacency brought it all back plus 25. So I've started over! I'm down about 30 so far, but the thought of losing 200 seems... unfathomable. I'm focusing on…

You look wonderful!

Everything is better with Kerrygold!

Thank you both! I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, then, and try testing again in a week or so.

Hi! I'm new to the group but have been doing Keto for about 5 weeks. My daughter is a pro and has been coaching me, helping with meals, etc. I've lost weight and my macros have been looking pretty good. I recently raised my carb limit a little so I could work in more fiber, but still staying around 20 net carbs each day.…

I did much better before I said anything to anyone. I'd lost 50 pounds before my husband even asked, and was halfway to my goal before I started discussing it with other people. Now I wish I hadn't! People began looking at me as some kind of expert, even though I didn't offer any advice other than to join MFP. Then I had a…

If you lose it gradually enough, he may not even notice for a while. If you're eating better, and weight loss happens, just WOW him with how much better you feel. :-) He will adjust to the new you.

I read the reviews on Amazon. OH MY.

That's a lot to come at once, and if the chocolate and cider helped, good! Tomorrow IS a new day, and while I'm sorry about your sad news, it doesn't change your goals in any way, so continue working your plan the best you can. The next several days will be hard, but you can do it. I had a death in the family last month,…

I'm married, and have both male and female friends here, but mostly female. If you're looking for friends with similar goals, bite the bullet and request friendships with them. The worst they can do is refuse, and you'll probably end up with several supportive male friends here.

My condolences on your loss! Your wife certainly WOULD be proud of your success! Please honor her further by doing it healthfully. Grief is a process that is different for everyone. Please feel free to come here for support whenever you need it, and friend me (and others) if you wish, so you won't feel so alone!

If Sunday is your Cheat Day (I prefer TREAT day), then maybe weigh yourself on Fridays or Saturdays instead of Mondays. You might get a more accurate picture of your progress that way.

When I get calf cramps, I can generally attribute it to not drinking enough water.
-
Sounds like you're doing the right things. Most of us have just lived with it. You can research foods that are natural (mild!) diuretics but they probably won't make a big difference. Word of advice: Don't weigh yourself those days. :-)

It's giving me fits, as well.

I'm amazed and relieved at how easily I can fit in a restaurant booth now... and how easy it is to slide out again!

I second the idea that you might be lacking water. Sometimes thirst masquerades as hunger.

I've turned it into a personal challenge. Almost a game. I set myself smaller goals (this much weight gone by this date) and celebrate milestones (getting below what my drivers license says, weighing less than my husband, etc.). I log my food, and play around with the choices I have and the amounts to get myself under…

Sometimes I boil my chicken breasts instead of bake them. Then, when I want a really quick, tasty meal, I shred one, warm it in a pan with some butter, and then sprinkle it with a tablespoon or two of Parmesan cheese. Mix it up and enjoy as is, or serve it on noodles, or add cooked peas or chopped broccoli for some healthy…

Congrats! Our weight-loss journeys are made up of these kinds of learning experiences.

Add me! I started out needing to lose almost TWICE that much! I would be glad to walk this journey with you!
-
Welcome! I started over a year ago and it's been the best tool I've ever used. :-)

Perkins has chicken noodle soup that is really low in calories! Maybe have some of that, then some other side order to fill you up. Check their website!

Craving sugary things happens to me, too, when I'm tired. I hope you can find healthy ways to feed yourself while you're treated for your anemia.

Yes. ;)

If you give up, you'll gain and lose the same weight over and over, or worse yet, just gain. That is not what you want, right? So keep at it. Quitting is the only way you can fail.

Your profile says you only have 13 more pounds to lose. Would you mind sharing what health issues you have? Are they weight-related?

I remember my mother once telling me something about "jarming," which was supposed to be like arm jogging. Basically, it was cardio all done while seated in a (wheel)chair. Arm movements, especially over the head, raise the heart rate quite well. Simple leg movements (while seated) that don't stress the ankle could be…

Looks like you've been at this a while, then regained some, and are starting again? That's the story for so many of us... you are not alone! Fortunately, you're young. You have time to fix this, but yes... doing it sooner rather than later is the best. It can be done, though! I've lost over 90 in the past year and feel SO…

Quitting after one bad day means that your healthy eating is a "diet" that you will quit once you lose weight. If you look at it as a way of life, rather than a diet, then having a bad day will motivate you to do BETTER the next day, rather than make you want to quit. So look at healthy eating as something you are doing…
