  • I picked up a used, but almost like new Acorn Bags Boxy Rando bag for my Bridgestone RB-T. Waiting on a Nitto M12 rack for it.
  • Awesome day for Day 13 of #30daysofbiking We had a high in Avon of 78˚, the warmest day in about six months. Wind gusts to 34 MPH earlier. Another short ride for Day 14 of #30daysofbiking Winds averaged 12 MPH with gusts to 43 MPH. Temp is down 18˚ from this time yesterday, and will be even lower tomorrow. A short ride for…
  • Honey Baked ham, fresh green beans, home made escalloped potatoes, and a half bottle of wine. Relatively small portions of the ham helped, but I was still way over my sodium for the day. Other than that, I stayed within my daily goal. Didn't steal any of the kids candy.
  • Wow! Congratulations! I was happy just to get to 100 this week. 1000 takes real dedication and desire to stick with the program!
  • Yep, shellacked cork grips. I've got the same without shellack on my Xtracycle.
  • Added another to the stable for my wife. This one is for my wife, and will be awaiting its arrival from Seattle over the next week. It is a 1973 Raleigh Grand Prix rebuilt four years ago. Decked out as an around town bike. (Seller's photos) More/larger photos at http://smorris.smugmug.com/Leaning-Against-the-Wall/Raleigh…
  • 30 Pounds!!!!!!!! Met my original goal of 160 a couple of days ago, but changed it back in February to 150 pounds. So nine to go! Thanks for all the support!
  • Completed Day 11 of #30daysofbiking with a nice ride around town on a beautiful spring day. Day 12 of #30daysofriding complete. It was a beautiful day in Avon with a high of 73˚ and light winds.
  • I got mine in the first Kickstarter shipment. Sure is a nice bell, and tiny!
  • That's Day 8 of #30daysofbiking complete. Coupla miles biking for day 9 of #30daysofbiking. I went out for a VERY short ride today for Day 10 of #30daysofbiking Wind gusts were up to 42 MPH with an average wind speed of 25 MPH.
  • Spiffy! Nice photography skills, too. To view the full photo right-click view in new window/tab
  • Day 6 of #30daysobiking complete. Sunny and 46˚, but a cold north wind off of Lake Erie made it surprisingly chilly! Completed day 7 of #30daysofbiiking Just a few miles in light rain after 116 minutes of cardiac rehab. Whew! I’m pooped!
  • Day 5 of #30daysofbiking complete. A beautiful sunny day, but it was only 42˚ so somewhat brisk! Since the rain washed away some of the salt, I broke out the RB-T touring bike today.
  • From my daily news feed: Day 1: Ooops! First ride of the year, and I thought the treadmill and elliptical would get me more prepared. My Cardiac Rehab target HR is 120, but I've been able to get away with 125 and a little on occasion. I rode 5.2 miles, and 75% of the ride I was in the 128-144 range. My average HR was 133,…
  • No way could I ride 50-100 k these days. We just had 4-1/4" of snow Saturday, so this is about as early in the year as I can get out. I'm only riding my beater Craigslist mountain bike, because there is *way* too much salt on the roads to ride my good bikes. I fell off the riding wagon for a few years, put on a bunch of…
  • If you haven't seen The Flying Scotsman yet, it is definitely worth the time to find it. It is the story of Graeme Obree, his quest for the hour record, and his mental problems. Not particularly a "fun night" movie, but a wonderful bio. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472268/?ref_=nv_sr_4
  • Park chain whip, and another stem for the Trek 970, as the eBay one didn't work out.
  • Thanks, and welcome to MyFitnessPal. I'm sure that you've heard the old adage that now that you're retired you don't have time to do everything. That certain rings true, and we keep pretty busy. Having a 17 year old still at home keeps us busy, too.
  • Woo Hoo! Officially 25 pounds lost in six months! Thanks for the support, folks!
  • Schwalbe tubes and some new rim tape for the above 21 year old bike.( I already noted the Maxxis Hookworm tires for this bike last week.) I was out of Simichrome, so ordered a can as well. I have sone salmon Kool-Stop brake pads on their way, as well as a shorter, steeper stem from eBay. And I've ordered a new set of…
  • "The Rules" http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/
  • I'd love to, but no gravel roads around here. I used to on farm roads as a kid with big balloon tires, and it was a blast!
  • Yep, that boat tiller is the first thing that's gonna go. I'm 5.8 with a short torso, so I'm laid out reaching the bars. It is a 135mm 7˚ stem, and I'll probably get a 60-75mm 35˚ stem. Can't bend over like I used to. This Trek was the top of the line in 1993, was the last year they made lugged frames and made them in…
  • My new old bike arrived from eBay today. It is pretty much a brand new 1993 Trek 970 Mountain Track; their top of the line mountain bike available at the time. It looks unused, with only a couple of scratches on the chain stay. No wear on the original tires, no wear from the cable guide rubbing on the frame, nothing!
  • I looked at the Fitbit One, but ended up getting the Withings Pulse. It is very similar to the Fitbit One, measuring steps, elevation, guessing calories burned, and using the wrist band for sleep. It also has an optical pulse sensor, so that you can use it to check your heart rate. Not continuously, but by poking the…
  • Howdy from the other side of town!
  • Picked up a pair of Maxxis Hookworm tires (26 X 2.50) for the new old '93 Trek 970
  • I learned as a kid and just never forgot. The method I learned was to put the tire against a curb with the dominant pedal back toward you. Then just stepping up on the pedal keeps the tire against the curb, and you pivot up into the saddle. Continuing that momentum makes you lean a bit forward, and you just pedal to keep…
  • Today's purchase, a 1993 Trek 970 Mountain Track
  • I just today added another! 1992 Bridgestone RB-T touring bike 1993 Trek 970 Mountain Track (bought today) 1995 Trek 830 Mountain Track (probably going to be sold or saved for daughter's campus bike) 1997 KHS Summit-X mountain bike converted into an Xtracycle 50+ year old unicycle (as seen in my profile) Slo
