I average 26,000 to 28,000 steps per day, tracking with a Fitbit One which I love. My goal is to walk more than 20,000 steps on weekdays with three days over 25,000 plus a minimum of 16,000 daily on weekends. I usually find myself over that, plans permitting B)

Howdy B) Welcome to the fun (and insanity)! -ker

Laughing at them works too, on so many levels B)

Howdy! It will take me a while to just get through the November posts, but wanted to say 'hi' and introduce myself. I'm 64, and this is my second real commitment to MFP (many many more times losing and gaining weight). I lost about 80 pounds during my last MFP adventure, but through a series of things aka excuses and bad…

z4oslo - we will agree to disagree, perhaps. B) I'm using my Fitbit to count steps, that's it. I use their calorie burn estimate only as a very general guideline (and it does actually use a variety of 'active' minutes vs casual minutes to calculate that burn, as well as personalized step distance, etc). I'm challenging…

I have a Samsung Gear as well as a FitBit One. I have found the Gear is woefully inadequate for tracking steps, but also found that true of any device worn on the wrist. I don't always swing my arms when walking, especially if I'm pushing a cart or carrying stuff, so the FitBit One (worn in my pants pocket) is much more…

Best: Calories in, calories out. The more nutritious the calories, the better health benefits, but weight loss is still calories in, calories out. Worst (and this will cause some flags or haters): All adult humans must eat a minimum of 1200 calories a day, or they will lose muscle/go into starvation mode (yeah, right) /…

Never had a flu shot when I was younger, then occasionally when I got 55+, mostly because husband works in a hospital environment. Then I postponed (aka forgot) shot two years ago, and got the flu. I've never been so sick in my entire life, and would have ended up in the hospital myself if not for an RN friend who gave me…

Now if I just had some of those special brownies I ate back when I first listened to this album MANY years ago

I'm doing much better than I used to, and yes, it's because I added fats back into my diet. When it's been 'too long', I have a small bag of pistachios and it really helps. And, just a sidenote... and this is weird, but.... I was looking at a catalog of specialty items for senior citizens (for my mother! I may almost be…

me too! I, too, am (still) a smoker but we don't smoke in the house, so.... if I smoke, I walk - sometimes just pacing on the back patio or circles in the garage/driveway apron, or fast walking my driveway multiple times (it's a long driveway). DH says my Native American name would be 'walks in circles' The Fitbit is my…

I too am a chocoholic, and believe just about everything is better with chocolate (well maybe not peas, but I hate peas.....) I find that I can't keep much chocolate around the house because my willpower is zilch when the cocoa craving calls. My current aids to prevent me from a chocolate deprivation crime spree are:…

I didn't chime into this conversation because I wear mine clipped to the inside of my jean's pocket.... or clipped onto my undies before I get dressed LOL. I've found that the step count is more accurate than wearing it up top. Just my humble opinion

wanda - i wouldn't hesitate to recommend amazon.com :)

I must admit that I have grinned at some of your interpretations of 'older' For women, natural menopause is full of not-so-wonderful surprises, and the decreased calorie burn is one of them. Add in a couple of 'bads' (bad ankle, bad shoulder, bad back, etc) and/or some medical issues that may affect exercise and…

I used SlimFast for a year about 20 years ago, and was successful (and kept the weight off for quite a while). I also chose my 'real' meals wisely and walked. A lot. I have never cared for a big breakfast, so a shake works well for me in the morning. This time around, however, I chose to go with a protein shake option. I…

I'd eat most of my 'own' food before I went to the reunion, then just take a very small portion of whatever comes close to fitting your plan. If/when anyone makes a comment, I'd just say - I got hungry a couple of hours (or whatever) ago so had something to eat & not very hungry now. A snack in your purse or car to be…

must have been a one day thing... FitBit is back to its usually stingy self today :disappointed:

I'm so confused LOL. My husband decided he'd like to use my old fitbit zip to see just how many steps he took in a typical work day, so we moved it off my desk and he managed to get it 'registered' to his new account. The same day he did that, the calorie burn for my FitBit One changed... a LOT. I don't know if it's…

Recently discovered chocolate tea (seriously). A mug (like two cups) of chocolate mint sweetened with no-cal chemicals  and my craving for 6 chocolate candy bars is under control. Helps, I think, that it smells wonderful & takes a while to drink... Bought my first tin at Target, ordered some straight chocolate tea…

Weight lost: 78 pounds Method: IIFYM/Flexible eating with lower carb and fat macros than MFP suggests Oh - and VLC days frequently (don't dump on me please)

I have a horrible sweet tooth - and a day without an (un)healthy dose of chocolate just isn't complete. I can't have chocolate protein bars or even Skinny Cow ice cream around because I eat WAY too many. I'm trying to fight this by: - chocolate protein shake in the morning - and I add some no sugar added choco syrup, make…

I had purchased a number of necklace extenders at my highest weight - they are all off my necklaces now. New one for me today - went for a walk & it's pretty windy. Actually had to fight to keep my balance at times - used to be a hurricane wind would barely push me over
-
@Sharon - I was able to set up my fitbit at the Walgreen's site in their balance rewards section. I had to set up an online account first, and choose 'show all devices' for my style fitbit to show up. An interesting thread: [url="http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10084218/fitbit-accuracy"[/url] Pretty…

You look gorgeous - and with that smile, you'll never need jewelry

I have tried both the Raspberry Vinaigrette and the Honey Dijon, and really liked them. That being said, I'm really not a big salad dressing person, but those two really dressed up my mixed greens with some pecans & raspberries, as well as a salad with chicken bits very nicely. I didn't find the ingredients scary at all…

Don't freeze in fear! The fitbit won't ever adjust to eat less calories than you've set at your minimum. It's just a record of how many steps you have taken and the resulting calorie burn. It never sends you negative messages, well - on my Fitbit Zip the little guy would frown at me, but I turned that smiley off because it…

........ and I just learned today that you can link Fitbit to your AARP account (i've been a member for a long time but just registered online today) and earn 'good points' for reaching 10,000 steps a day and some mile goals. 'Good points' are redeemable like cash for some items that actually make sense :)
