40+er signing in!

Mine is open too. My breakfasts and lunches are pretty much the same but I try to mix it up with the dinners (and I tend to log the individual ingredients of a meal versus using the recipe builder since I add foods via the app quite a bit).

Tomato paste is on the list for this summer. Should be interesting to see how long it takes to boil down to the paste consistency.
-
We can at least 4 bushels of tomatoes (crushed, diced, and this basic sauce) so not sure how good I will be about figuring it out next year either. TBH. That is a hella lotta tomatoes. :)

I meal plan for dinners since both the H and I eat pretty much the same things for breakfast and lunch every day. I also do bulk cooking so I know what I have prepped and ready to go since it is in the freezer. Tonight is Citrus Ginger Sesame Chicken Breasts. The bulk cooking does take up a whole day but the lack of stress…

Friends don't let friends skip leg day!

Can you open your diary? You will get more constructive answers if people can see what you are logging.

Here's the deal, you have narrowed it down to the girlfriend and while you may think she is shy, she isn't shy about stealing other people's food. So you talk to her. Not in an aggressive "what the hell did you think you were doing" way but a "hey, since no one else in the house took my food, that leaves you. Please don't…

Another person who lost by eating what I want but less of it signing in. 20 lbs down since 1/6. And I haven't even been that aggressive with it. I tried the low carb thing last year and was miserable the entire 2 months I kept it up. I got to the point where I was having vivid dreams about eating bread and bagels and other…

A couple of questions. Where did hte 1300 cals come from? Did you manually set that or did MFP set that for you? Are you being to aggressive with your weight loss pwe week? If it is set at 2, maybe drop down to 1 lb/wk to see what a difference that makes in your hunger. The loss may be slower but you won't be hungry all…

I work on my hobbies that keep me from using my hands to eat. I have several pieces of furniture I am refinishing/prepping for paint, seed starting begins soon, digital scrapbooking, etc. I also try to allow about 100 to 150 cals for a snack (my current fav is hot air popped popcorn sprayed with a bit of I can't Believe…

44. Married. No kids, well just 2 spoiled fur kids. :) Feel free to add me.

My goal is longer term goal is sub-160, which apparently is high based on others on the board but even when I was in HS and running 40+ miles a week, I was never less than 140 and had lots of muscle. And I was never lower than a size 10. So I am more concerned with getting back into a decent sized pair of jeans than I am…

Consistency is key. Even if the food choices aren't great or put you over your allotment, log them. No one is perfect/under/on plan all the time. Hell, I walked around the block a couple of times last night because I realized I needed to get some exercise cals. Wasn't long, 15 minutes but got the heart pumping and helped…

I have the same issue and so am working on hobbies that don't give me the opportunity to even get to food. Current project is refinishing a cedar chest. Hard to eat when you have a respirator on because you are stripping varnish and sanding wood. :) Next up, planning the garden and starting seeds. I figure if I have my…

Are you logging your food someplace else? I checked your diary and there are many days with no/incomplete entries. It may be about getting back to basics. Weighing and logging everything you eat. Logging all exercise. Drinking lots of water.

I eat fruits and other things with sugar in them every single day. Why deprive yourself?

I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks spaced out through the day so I never get really hungry. I keep low(er) cal snacks available (carrots, cukes, mandarine oranges, etc.) so when I get the need to eat/crunch something, I go for those. Oh, and hot air popped popcorn is another one when I need a snack-like crunch. Don't be too…

What about ordering a regular cheeseburger with a side salad? Or a BBQ chicken sandwich with no cheese? You should still be ablle to incorporate foods you love just in lesser portions. If you limit/restrict yourself too much (and you have sone a lot of changes with the smoking, soda, exercise trifecta) you could be setting…

Personally, I use a scale for just about everything except liquids. And after a dinner of Chinese take away (which was loaded with salt, I am sure) I was up 3 lbs overnight.
-
Exactly this. And not to be too graphic but my husband who had been even on his weight loss for the last 2 weeks and lost 1.4 lbs this morning...by pooping. I personally weigh myself daily but I am trying to get a handle on what exercise and what I eat are doing to my system. I know there will be ups and downs but as long…
-
Relax. It is most likely water weight. Shoot, I went out for chinese for dinner one Saturday evening and even though I stayed within my plan I was up 2 lbs the next day. Next week's weigh in, I had lost that plus some.

I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks. I find that if I don't allow myself to get really hungry, I am less likely to binge or make poor calories choices. Breakfast = 300 ish calories AM snack - 100 ish calories Lunch = 400 ish calories PM snack = 100 ish calories Dinner = 600 ish calories Evening snack = 100 ish calories Of course…

I personally do but that is because when I do clean on the weekend, it is 2+ hours of being in motion. Up and down the stairs, back and forth from one side of the house to the other, moving furniture to dust and vacuum, etc. I only count half the time at low intensity to make sure I am not overestimating. And I am sweating…

I guess what I am trying to get at is that I am not wondering if 1-ish lbs a week is realistic but why so many think that losing 5+ lbs a week is possible or realistic. And if they are not losing at that pace, there must be something wrong. So far I am averaging 2 lbs a week which is great and right on target and should…

Another vote for maybe much sodium because a true gain of 4 lbs would mean consumption of 14,000 extra calories (if you agree that 3,500 cals = 1 lb). That is a hella lot of calories to miss even if you aren't logging every day.
-
Have some chocolate. Just adjust your meal plan accordingly. Lots of veggies to fill yourself up so you can save room for the chocolate. Hubs and I went out for his birthday last weekend and I worked hard all day moving furniture, hauling tools around and installing new flooring to get some extra calories so I could have a…

I have a FB Force and love it. While it isn't perfect, it does keep me motivated and seeing it on my wrist during the day at work, reminds me to get up and take a walk around the office every so often to get my steps and to stretch my legs. It also is that constant reminder that I am working a plan to get healthy and…

Mine is open but not particularly interesting. Hoping to change that soon when I have more time to cook.
