Some of your photos are swoon-worthy as well, no worries!

You sure about that, Cap'n? Jac's on my FL and I still grin at the .gif every time I see it, so...negatory. :drinker:
-
despite reminding me of the headless horseman, this guy has some AMAZING abs. *swoons* (even though I am sure I am old enough to be your mom! LOL)
-
Which would explain it being in the "chit chat" section. :drinker:

I'm pretty anti-guns in my own world but I don't think it's fair to stereotype a region of the country, like people are saying "oh of course it's Kentucky"--accidents with kids and guns happen EVERYWHERE--it's not the geographic area, it's the parents. This situation seems to be an issue with parental supervision (lack…

That cracked me up. Honestly, .7 of an ounce=not enough calories for me to worry about...plus, I assume it's the plastic. You're not gonna eat the plastic, OP (I hope!) Edited to add: OP, if your recommended daily calorie intake is really 2900 as shows in your current food diary, that extra .7 ounces is really NOT going to…

I'm pretty sure you will not "accidentally" end up looking like the lady at the bottom in the black shorts and top. (I'd actually LIKE to look more like her, especially the abs! But that would take some very hard work and concentrated lifts. It's not gonna happen if you eat at a calorie deficit and occasionally pick up…

The image of that made me laugh a little, even though I hate cigarette/cigar smoke. Just as long as you don't smoke while working out, right? :) I ran a 10 mile race yesterday...there were police personnel stationed at regular intervals throughout the race to direct traffic as necessary...one policeman was smoking a big…

I like Rush! I should try this...their music is pretty cerebral, might pick me up a cute music nerd :blushing:

My only advice is don't wait 9+ plus years, like me, or you will be even more socially awkward. Good luck! PS If that is your real body, I'm sure there are people checkin ya out at the gym already...make friends with them and go from there!

ohmygod this. but no, I don't have any cashews. :frown:

I think this thread was posted as a joke but I like your response...personally I don't feel the need to give "tough love" (which often shows up in the form of snarky remarks or nastiness via internet speak) to anyone...

I like what you wrote here. While I am not a Christian (a rather non-observant Jew leaning toward Buddhism at this point LOL), I believe that prayer is great if it helps you feel better or understand something, but it does not have to supersede action. It's not like a person can't pray and then TAKE ACTION to change their…

A little over two years ago I was 50 pounds overweight and was inspired to try Couch to 5k by a friend...I couldn't do one minute intervals, I could only do 15 seconds of running at a time and then I'd walk a few minutes. I ended up using a combination of Couch to 5k and Jeff Galloway's run/walk method and simply tweaked…

I have no idea whether the OP was a troll or truly someone discouraged and in need of...(well since they did not want "positivity" and success stories, I really haven't a clue)...something...maybe an *kitten* kicking to get motivated to do something about their health...I don't know...Too bad they deactivated their…

Thank you for this...I've improved my speed from 13 minute miles 2 years ago, to average 10:30/11 minute miles, and even though I may be considered a turtle by some, I AM A RUNNER. And I've never had an "elite" runner tell me it's not running.

Personally, I never experienced that when I started running, 35 pounds ago, and I have received nothing but support and kindness from the running community. I only wish everyone had the kind of wonderful experiences I have. When I see people of any shape or size out running, I think one of the following: 1) gawd I wish…

there was an entire discussion thread on this article yesterday (I can't remember the title or I'd point ya there). I love running and the spirit of the running community I'm involved with, so I will continue running--I also do strength training and other activities so I think I have a good balance.
-
Thanks for your story and the comparison photos--a good reminder to me to be consistent with my strength training and not just running (as much as I love running, I want your "after" leg photo! :)
-
No! Sounds fabulous! Especially the idea of running to and from the gym--very good use of time! I love running so I run; I do find that I like my body composition better when I add resistance and strength training work. I was in the best shape of my life last spring when I was doing both half marathon training and focused…

That's also the year I graduated from high school. :noway:

Yep! :drinker: My dad used to like to blame the fact that he didn't get to go to Woodstock on the fact that my mom was pregnant with me that summer. LOL.
-
Yep. To everything you wrote here, spot on! They used to tell women not to run because their uteruses would be damaged. Now we know better.

To the OP: did you lose any loved ones in the worldwide bombings today? did you have friends or loved ones running in Boston? No one is making light of bombings in the world today, but as others have said your post only speaks about YOU and your lack of compassion. It doesn't make you a better person because you, like me,…
