October is National Anti-Bullying Month
I know we talk about this endlessly and I am sure to see "beating a dead horse" memes on this thread, but I am tired of people (women, in particular) belittling each other for their size. I find MyFitnessPal overall to be a great support site for healthy living...but it seems we still have this need to hurt one another…

Crockpot Mexican Chicken
For my MFP friends who asked for this recipe: (Note: It's from a coworker and I don't know calorie or macronutrient numbers, but you can probably enter individual ingredients into the recipe thingie and get a fairly accurate calorie count that way  ) 4-5 boneless chicken breasts, frozen 1 can no salt black beans (15…

strength/resistance training before cardio? or vice versa?
Saw this on the Jillian Michaels website this morning. Is this accurate (that one should do strength or resistance training before cardio)? Opinions? Right now if I do cardio and strength training on the same day, I typically do my cardio first. I'm training for a half marathon and run 4 days a week--2 of those days I try…

A great idea for all those Girl Scout cookies...
So confession time...at the grocery store tonight I was serenaded by 3 adorable Girl Scouts from Troop 50992 in Lakewood, Colorado, selling "cookie crack" (also known as Thin Mints)...I reached into my wallet "reluctantly" and said: "aha! I have no cash." No dice. They have a mobile credit card machine. :noway: So I…

Nike Plus
I would love to hear from someone who uses the Nike Plus system to track running workouts (not the watch, I'm interested in the iPod attachment and shoe sensor). I am looking for something easy to use that tracks mileage, pace, and speed, and I can't afford a GPS watch right now. Thanks in advance!

running in snow
I am running a 5k on Saturday...and just saw that there is a 60% chance of snow showers that day...I am a fairly new runner (last February) and I have not run in snow before. Anyone use "yak traks" with their running shoes, or have any good suggestions? Unless there's a total blizzard, I don't want to skip the 5k because…

Race for the Cure 5k October 2
any Colorado folks doing the Race for the Cure 5k on Oct 2? I am running it for the first time this year, a week before my half marathon (gulp). Would love to meet up/run with some local MFP buddies :)

"Technical" socks for runners
So I did my longest training run yet (9.27 miles, took about 2 hours cause I'm kinda slow) this morning and it was the first time I had soggy socks...would love some brand/store recommendations for technical socks if any runners can help me out!?

"Too much" cardio?
Just looking for your thoughts, as a group of people who are trying to get/stay fit. What I've been doing seems to be working for me right now, but just curious about something--one of the trainers at my gym said I do "too much" cardio...I have actually really scaled back on my cardio so I'm not sure why he keeps telling…

Denver area running buddies!
Hi all, I am a newbie runner (I can currently run a mile without stopping, and am doing mostly run/walk interval training, C25K and Jeff Galloway style. Still pretty slow and just learning about form) Now that the weather is warming up here in Colorado I am finally trying to get off the treadmill and track at the gym and…

tricep exercises
during strength training work tonight, I was admiring my newly acquired arm and shoulder muscles (yes I'm a geek who is in love with my new more muscular body lol)...however, I still have "underarm" flab, even though the tops of my arms and shoulders look awesome...can anyone suggest some good exercises (either machines or…

(a little embarrassed) stretch marks?
So I noticed tonight while changing out of my workout clothes that I have what look like stretch marks on the very tops of my thighs...I have lost almost 12 pounds in about 4 or 5 weeks, but not sure if this is a result of losing that weight or all the exercise I've been doing or ??? anyone else experience this? they're…

Eating pre-workout
So I have started eating healthy and working out and am overall feeling AWESOME...but I need to tweak what I'm doing and I could use suggestions, especially from any runners/trainers out there. What do you suggest I eat pre-work out, especially in the AM when I just got up and go exercise? I need a little energy but I…

NSV!
So I went to get a haircut today...hadn't seen my stylist since mid January. (I did not start working out until mid February) As I walked toward her chair, she says..."Wow, have you lost weight?" First person to notice and actually say something about it...it felt REALLY good ;) NSV=Non scale "victory"

just getting started...
Hi all, I just joined MFP last week, although I started working out again about 4 weeks ago. I have only lost about 4 pounds so far but I have not really changed my diet much and I seem to be gaining a lot of muscle. I am trying to not be obsessive about the scale (ie, not weighing myself every day anymore, because if I…
