this would be an appropriate time to ask someone: "Get in the kitchen and make me a sammich!!!!"

was I the only one who got a private message from "courtney" asking if I had an intact gallbladder? and saying that she does not and that's the reason she can only eat certain things? creepy...

Many, many of us work 8hour days (and more!) and have families, lives, children, pets, hobbies, etc) AND workout and still somehow find time to eat healthy meals and/or snacks...I cannot for the life of me see what "being retired" would have to do with it. You're asking for advice and cursing out those who offer…

I cried at the end of my first one as well...it was such a great feeling to have accomplished that. Be careful, half marathons are addicting! :) I will be doing my 4th half next month. I don't have a magnet, but I do have a bumper sticker...well...actually more than one. Ahem.

(You and I were both reading that post from the girl who exercises 2 hours a day but can't find a way to eat 1200 calories, even though she has nothing to do but go to the gym all day)

the question was: is it UNHEALTHY? the answer: YES, it's UNHEALTHY. (in capital letters because a few people answered your first post with "yes" when I think they meant, no it's NOT healthy.) Very few people on MFP are going to advocate a less-than-1000 calories per day eating goal, because it's not medically recommended…

haha...that's what you get for checking out a thread clearly marked "ladies only." :flowerforyou:

\m/ I totally agree--80s hard rock/metal fuels my running playlists!

I think you've gotten some great suggestions here (better than dry rice cakes! :) Given your age, I think starting a kettlebell routine and/or body weight resistance exercises would be good to preserve muscle mass and could also help with bone density--especially if you have allergies and can't consume a decent amount of…

March 30...and surprisingly, I like how I look, for a change (I hate pictures of myself!)

I'm glad I was not the only one who was like

um...no. Are you 12? There really are adults who don't think with their genitals all the time. Some are guys. Some are women. Some of us are friends.

I've now seen two very random posts from you...both involving the breadkitty .gif. Ten points for creativity...extra for tattoos! yay!

Excellent response; much more creative than anything I could come up with. And I wholeheartedly agree. My best guy friend is gay, so that would explain the lack of interest LOL. However, I have several other male friends who I am just platonic friends with. No attraction on either of our parts. I've also had male friends…

eggs, potatos, tuna, frozen veggies (super cheap at places like walmart, not necessarily the greatest but it will tide you over for the week), brown rice (the kind that takes longer to cook is cheaper than the minute rice, sadly ;) Check the meat area for stuff on sale (may need to cook it the same or next day) as well as…

This is well said, and from a person who's clearly been VERY successful with his weight loss. (Ed's posts always inspire me) As for explaining to you, OP, why I personally go over my calorie allotment on a regular basis (I don't even call them cheat days, but there are usually one or two days a week that I either don't log…

I like canned salmon (or you can buy it in the ready-to-eat pouches like tuna) in a spinach salad, or mixed with brown rice and veggies. But I really like tuna and salmon. They also sell various frozen salmon fillets (I think the brand is Gortons?) in various flavors including lemon pepper, that you can just bake or…

Eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins as part of your regular eating plan. Aim for a small calorie deficit. Drink water. Exercise (cardio AND strength training) Repeat. The only reason I can see to fast would be if you need to get bloodwork. Or prior to surgery. Or, some people do it for religious reasons.…

Note to the OP: If you go on a forum complaining about how a particular way of eating didn't work for you, but you didn't actually log consistently, measure your portions, OR follow that way of eating properly...you probably shouldn't be arguing with all the people trying to help. They're just pointing out that the concept…

TERRIBLE ADVICE.

I think they meant more nutrient-dense foods by that. But...I could be wrong.

If her BMR is 1700 something and MFP is "recommending" 1200 something...um...that's not necessarily "safe." I love MFP's tools but I think it can be misleading to automatically set so many people at 1200 calories per day when that's not appropriate for everyone. I had hydrostatic body fat testing done and it showed my BMR…

I run 2 days a week with a group, and the other 2 days I either run on the treadmill or during the day in a well-populated area, like a nearby park where there are always lots of people. (I'm sure I could still get into trouble even in a busy area, but hopefully someone would hear me) I don't run at night or at dawn when…

Many training plans for half marathons have your longest run at 10-11 miles, so you're in fabulous shape as far as that! That's great! If you're not using a training plan at the moment, just try to taper (run less) in the 2 weeks leading up to your race, and keep your runs easy and relatively short. I don't log my food the…

I'll be doing my 4th half marathon (Colfax Half, Denver) on May 19. The last one I did was in September, I came down with a really bad cold 2 days before and felt terrible, so no PR, but I finished. I've been a bit lazy over the fall/winter and am just getting back into shape after gaining about 10 pounds and losing some…
