Good for you! I love reading posts like that.

My disclaimer is that I am not an expert by any means. I only know my body and my routines. When I am training for a marathon, which would be similar to your crazy long outdoor rides, I usually tend to put on a few pounds and for sure not lose any. For me it's mental. Everything slows down. My runs slow down, they are long…

sounds so yummy. I am going to make it tomorrow!

Every time you want one go for a run!

Ironman Triathlon.

You don't realize how much of your body you are using when you run, especially a race. I raced on Sunday and I was so exhausted not just because of the running but also the adrenaline running through my body, barely sleeping the night before and having to get up at 4 am. The stress on your body is more than just your legs.…

I think Bump is used when you are trying to keep a thread active. Waiting for the question to be answered.

your mind needs a rest too.

I almost always go on an empty stomach. I roll out of bed and run so I don't usually have time to eat. For a race I will have a bar about 1 hour before.

I struggle so much in maintenance. It seems like I am always up 3 down 3. How do you switch to maintenance. Does it give more calories.

I've ran a few marathons and bunch of halfs. I am always in training mode. One thing that I can't run without is my Nike+. It's super cheap and I love it. I also cross train with spin. It's a good thing to cross train so you do get burned out. You can add me for support. Happy Running!

I am starting it May 23rd. I did it last summer to mix things up. It's my plan again this summer. It's intense but the results are great. Good luck. Add me if you want some support.

Just be happy it's only 10. Enjoy the weight loss you have already achieved. It will come off.

I usually average, regardless of running or spinning, 100 calories burned for every 10 minutes worked out. Does that make sense? What does MFP say?
-
So True.

always here, em, duh winning

Be optimistic my friend. Not just for your weight loss journey, yes journey not destination, but for your life changes. First, you are getting married to an amazing man. Even not knowing him I know that he is if he snagged you. Secondly, you are being the best role model for your daughter that she could possibly ask for.…

Running a half marathon is a great goal! Runner's World has a great training program on their website. Training with the kids in the stroller will be harder but come race day you will appreciate the freedom of running solo. My friends and I started walking before we began training for anything serious. Start out that way…

Those are great goals. Yes, your friends will hate you but it will be worth it in the end for sure. Start slow so you don't get discouraged. Maybe give up one thing at a time. This website is a great source of encouragement, information and accountability. Good luck.

you will be tan but not fat :)

This site has been it for me, hands down. Since joining, because of you, I have lost 5 pounds. That might not seem much to most but I have struggled with this on and off for a few years. I realized today I cut out 1500 calories a day since I started here. That means I was eating about 3500 calories a day. Not even…

I am thinking about it. I want to. I really do. I am a cardio freak so I know I need the mix up.
-
That looks good to me. I am in constant train mode so I tend to cross-train more. 3x run and 3x spin. I wish I had the discipline to do more P90x. It is a great workout.

Walk, Run or Bike. For strength training I picked up Bob Harper's DVD from costco for less then $10. Love him and it.

I have always calculated about 100 calories for every mile I run. It takes me just a little bit less then 10 minutes to run a mile. This calculation is the same as mfp gives me as well as my Nike+ that I use while I run. Depending on how vigorous you were moving I would say anywhere between 700-900 would seem about right.…

Drink lots of water em.

great job!

That is awesome! That is how I started four years ago. It just takes baby steps and they lead into more. I never thought I could run more than a 5k. I have ran many half marathons and a few full marathons. It started with just running 5 minutes at a time. Great job.

The previous replies were right on the mark. My lenten sacrifice actually brought me here. I originally was going to give up the normal stuff - sweets and snacking- but really that is just for me and not God. Our priest said that you need to replace what you give up with something that will bring you closer to God. If you…
