It's still processed and not real food...regardless of what you add to it.

1 pound worked for you? I'm hoping you're talking about the weight you lost before joining MFP...
-
As I said before...not trying to start anything, just sharing because I think many people are very misled. I'll stick to my real food, real exercise, and real progress. :drinker:
-
This is exactly what I was going to say - your activity level should be set at whatever you would do on a normal day - then any actual exercise you do would be what you log as exercise.

Coffee...I refuse to EVER give up coffee. But thankfully I like it black, so even if you take out all the sweet creamy stuff, I still like it! And Mexican food...I will adapt it to make it healthier, but I could never give up my fajitas!

Don't consume lower than 1,200/day - your body needs that much just to function properly...you may not be losing because you may not be eating enough depending on how many calories you're burning each day.

There's a major difference between eating clean and eating low-calorie. About the only truly clean thing you can get from McD's is a salad with no dressing and no chicken. If it's processed AT ALL, it's not clean, regardless of how few calories it might have. The oatmeal MIGHT be okay if it doesn't have a bunch of added…

But if it's Subway vs a double cheeseburger with fries...go to Subway!
-
Calorie-wise it's great, but one sandwich can easily get you almost your entire sodium intake for a day. WAY too high in sodium!
-
Thanks for all the tips/suggestions!!

Coffee is the nectar of the gods! There's nothing unhealthy about it until you add all the cream and sugar. It has caffeine, yes, but you'd have to drink a TON of it every day for that to really even matter all that much.

I was almost 300# when I started running...or attempting to run...and I still weigh around 220...so I say more power to 'em! err...us! :drinker: But honestly, maybe it's the community I'm from, I've never encountered a single runner that scoffed at me for running. I had one random jack-*kitten* on the street make fun of me…

This is why I'm not labeling myself as vegetarian, vegan, or whatever...If I want meat or cheese, I'm going to eat it...if I want eggs, you better believe I'll get some...especially if bacon is involved...we just want to get away from depending on meat/animal products and definitely get away from all the processed crap.

 Hope your computer survives the coffee...and thanks for your not-so-helpful "google it!" response. Just kidding...I've actually already consulted the all-knowing google several times! :blushing:

I don't know what Shakeology is, but it sounds like some sort of fad diet...

I don't know what half the stuff you named up there is! I wish we had a Whole Foods somewhat close to Joplin, but alas, we only have a couple local whole food stores with limited products...and a farmers' market...I imagine I'll be spending a lot more time and money at these places versus Wal-Mart, Sam's, Adli,…

That's what started this whole thing! We watched Forks over Knives last night on Netflix, and it really made a lot of sense and went right along with what my personal trainer has been telling me for months. Then that damn Netflix recommended the Engine 2 Diet documentary, so we watched it, too! And I took notes...because…

I know it's not just limited to hippies...I was just kidding...but I know vegans get a lot of crap about their views when it comes to animals and why they choose to not eat them. I'm not a radical type person at all and didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression of me. There's nothing wrong with being vegan, but some…

I love bacon...*sigh*

Husband isn't big on the idea of soy products...he's okay with some, but doesn't want that to be a staple. I'm from the south where everything was meat, fried, or smothered in bbq sauce and that's how I learned to cook. I'm a good cook, don't get me wrong, but re-learning most of what I know is going to be interesting...

Aside from the obvious - phone/mp3 player, drivers' license, keys - I always carry my water bottle and some nutrition (gu, sport beans, powergel, whatever works for you) if I'm going to be out longer than 45min-1 hour. Pepperspray is a good item to have, too...and not just for pesky creepers...it works great on dogs that…

He's not kidding...it really does make your pee smell funny!

I like to steam it then sprinkle just a little lemon pepper seasoning over it.

I have crazy friends who do stuff like that - last year my friend Louis did a century ride on Saturday and a half marathon the next day - but he's conditioned to do things like that. I think you'd probably be fine, especially if the 35 miles is flat like you say. I personally wouldn't do it, but that's just because I know…

My first half is a week from today and you better believe there will be a 13.1 sticker in my back window right along with my Rufus Racing Team logo! I'm proud of my sport and my racing team!!

PC - because I'm not rich, I don't have the time for their BS, and because my husband is an IT guy and refuses to have Apple products in the house... MACs are good for video/photo editing, and that's about it. They're way more expensive and not very compatible with most other devices. Unless you're in to graphic…

I'm 5'3'', 218#, and size 16 most places.

Cook up some whole wheat spaghetti. Saute shrimp in olive oil and throw in some minced garlic, diced roma tomatoes, a little salt, and some basil or italian seasoning. Put the saute mixture on the pasta instead of using a tomato based sauce. I call it Tomato Basil Garlic Shrimp and Spaghetti. It's SO good!

So glad you put that excuse to rest. Kudos to you and keep up the great work!!

Spibelt - double as a pouch to put stuff in and as a race belt if you get the little bungee tie thingies. You can get them at most running stores and probably on Amazon. They're usually about $20. I LOVE mine! spi = small personal item. :)
