I always put just my car key in my spibelt or the pocket on my water bottle thingy if it's a longer run and I need the water (it's a camelback that sort of straps to my hand). Never thought to tie it to my shoelaces! Everything else I leave in the car.

I'd love to hear some answers, too, since I'm not super far from you and am dealing with the same issue!

Depends on where the hair is if it bothers me or not. Chest hair doesn't bother me as long as he doesn't look like a gorilla, but shoulder/back hair - nasty! Anywhere else it's pretty normal for their to be hair there, so it's just his preference at that point.

I don't run in shorts for that reason. I'm still 220# and my legs have never not touched. Are you running in actual running shorts? If not, try going to a running store and get a pair of North Face or Mizuno or something made specifically for running - maybe it's just the fabric/cut of the shorts you're running in.

And I wouldn't suggest any type of high fiber foods, either...

Drink plenty of water the day before and don't eat anything you don't know how your body is going to react to, i.e., no new foods. A lot of people get nervous during races and nerves + weird foods = disaster waiting to happen. Get some sleep and have a small breakfast the morning of (nothing heavy that's going to upset…

And I'm not saying that as a derogatory statement toward Christians - I am a Christian - that just happens to be the Daniel fast's target audience.
-
There's no such thing as healthy quick weight loss that lasts - In my opinion, the Daniel fast is just another fad diet marketed to Christians...I'm sure it has some good points, like most other fad diets, but at the end of the day it's just another fad diet.

And DON'T go to Famous Footwear, Foot Locker, or any of the mall type retail stores - their employees don't know jack about running or running shoes most of the time...
-
Everyone's foot/gait is different. Go to a specialty running store and have them do a gait analysis and fit you for shoes. Most stores don't charge for this. Expect to pay around $100 for a good pair of running shoes. It's steep to some people, but your body will thank you later. I personally prefer my Brooks because I…

From everything I've been reading on cardio vs weight training, doing too much cardio will burn muscle, not fat, so you need to make sure you're not over-doing it. My personal trainer had me doing cardio about 3x/week for about 30-45 minutes and weight training on alternate days with at least 1 rest day. She also said to…

This. Don't trust the one you have at home and don't fret the number on the scale you DO trust. The number on the scale isn't everything. I haven't lost hardly any weight since October, but my body fat % has dropped 7.4%...

And honestly - no matter what kind of saddle you have - first week or so getting used to it, your butt will hurt. I'd say give it a little more time before you decide if you need a new saddle or not.
-
Check your local bike shop for a women's comfort saddle - don't mess with the racing saddles unless you're actually wanting to race - but the comfort saddles are a lot better for just riding around and riding for exercise. And maybe consider getting some bike shorts that have the extra padding in the butt.

I throw mine in a freezer bag and toss them in the freezer for later use in smoothies and banana bread. Might be an option if you don't find a recipe you like soon enough. :flowerforyou:

This! Zone bars are GREAT! Mint and cinnamon roll are my favorites!
-
And also consider the quality of your calories - are you eating 500 calories of crap for each meal or 500 calories of lean protein, whole grains, and green veggies? Quality makes a huge difference!
-
What are you considering a plateau? I don't think a week or two really counts as a plateau, so if it hasn't been very long, go back and look over your food diary and make sure you're eating not only within your budgeted calories, but that your other macros are in check, too. Sodium can totally jack with the number you see…

lucky - when I was in high school my doctor did tell me I have an acid imbalance in my stomach, so I can't eat a lot of oranges, tomatoes, etc...because it makes me sick, so maybe I just sloshed up too much acid and that's what it was. Brian - we started our run at 3 in the afternoon. For breakfast I ate some eggs in a…

This is GENIUS! We use TRX in our tri team - thus my profile pic - and those things are intense! Never thought to make my own!!

 Love it!

A lot of times if I have maintained or gained during a week, especially now that I've been on this f'ing plateau for nearly 4 months, I go back and look at my weekly and even monthly reports to see if I can find a trend that I might need to change. I've learned my sodium, on average, is WAY higher than it needs to be so…

Thanks for posting! I started at 282 and my goal is also 170 - I'm only 5'3'', but it's always nice to see success story pictures!! By the way, you look amazing!!

Road bike, yes. My tri coach said I'm not allowed to use toe clips (she was kidding, of course) but I don't see how people just leave their shoes on their pedals, jump on their bike, and go...then you have to change your shoes before you can take off running...just seems like a time-suck...

Psh - I drink black coffee all day long and my abs are DEFINITELY not flat! What am I doing wrong?!

I swear, you're the healthy version of Paula Dean! You always have the prettiest recipes!!

I say work out smarter, not harder. Some people put in HOURS a day at the gym, but they're doing just cardio, and still not getting the results they want. Do less cardio and more weight training - it will build lean muscle, which in turn melts fat and inches and burns more calories for a longer period of time after your…

If I go too long without eating I get very light headed, flushed, breathing/heart rate gets very rapid, and I feel like I'm about to vomit. I've learned to time my meals/snacks to where this doesn't happen, but if you're only eating 1,200 calories/day and you're also working out, you're most likely not getting enough…
