1. weigh to go 2. tomorrow is a new day; there's always tomorrow; start new tomorrow (or any variation of this phrase) 3. fell off the wagon 4. I know, right?! Okay - so they're not just words - they're entire phrases, but I can't stand them!

Tax return? What's that?? We never get anything back because we don't have any crib midgets....

1. We got an account at Family Video to rent movies, then 2 weeks later we went to the one across town and opened another account. After a month or so of not renting anything, they call and give you a free rental with 1/2 price rentals for the next 2 weeks. We almost always have a free rental or half price rentals at one…

Some random dude yelled at me in a Wal-Mart parking lot one night a few years ago: "Hey, want another biscuit?!"

Monday: rest Tuesday: short run/weight train Wednesday: spin class Thursday: arc trainer/weight train Friday: spin class Saturday: Zumba/Zumba toning Sunday: long run The only reason I don't run on Thursday is because I have been having trouble with my knee, so my trainer told me to do the arc trainer on that day because…

^This I can't stress enough the importance of good running shoes!

It isn't over. Lee said it goes all the way to Christmas Eve. I gave him our updates through yesterday. Maybe Eric will show tomorrow.
-
I suck...I did get in 2 miles yesterday, though!!
-
Is this challenge still going, or did someone already win? Seems to be kinda quiet...
-
I just updated mine and I saw that you and Aggie had updated through yesterday as well. I couldn't find any more logging for Dave or Eric, but I think I got all of Shirley's. I sent Lee a message to see if he had heard from Eric. Maybe the challenge is already over??

I think I forgot to weigh in this week...or maybe 2 weeks in a row...either way, I'm currently at 226.

Boondock Saints and V for Vendetta!

And the most important thing: GET GOOD SHOES! Don't go buy just any pair of tennis shoes and expect them to be right. Go to a specialty running store and have them do a gait analysis and fit you for the right shoe for you. It will save you a lot of trouble and pain!

There is no "best time" to guarantee losing a pound/week. If you're going to run, run whenever works best for you. I am NOT a morning person, so if I schedule my workouts in the morning I usually end up not doing them and then feel guilty. If you DO run in the morning, some people say eat before, others say don't. If I'm…

It's a good thing I burned so many calories on Saturday. Sorry guys - I just haven't been myself the last few days. I'll make up for it - I promise!!
-
I officially SUCK! I ran the first 2 days and haven't ran since then! :noway: I've been doing other stuff, though, so it's not like I'm just not working out. Anyway, here's an interesting article from active.com about running in the winter...thought I'd share:…

Do what works for you. I rarely eat back my exercise calories and it seems to have been working fine for me. One thing may work for one and one thing for another.
-
SPINNING! I've been sickly the last few days so that's my excuse for not working out. I have spin class tomorrow, though, so I'll make up for a day or so with that.

jeffgalloway.com is another awesome resource!

enjoyingtea.com has TONS of great flavors. One of my favorites is strawberry black. I also really like orange spice, but I get that from my local natural foods store.

If you're not doing an actual running program like C25K, I would just plan on every other day if I were you and do some cross training on alternate days: cycling, weights, swimming, yoga - but as a beginner runner, I definitely wouldn't try running every day. You may be able to do it cardiovascularly and muscularly, but it…

I really love the classes I take - Zumba, spin, and body sculpt - but when it comes to running...especially long runs, I'd much rather train alone. Just me and Pandora. It's relaxing to me.

The only way you're going to "gain" weight from one free day would be if you eat foods that are high in sodium. Sodium causes you to retain water, so you may see a higher number on the scale for a few days, but continue drinking water like you should and jump right back into your normal routine the next day, and within a…

Sounds like a good start to me, but my only suggestion would be to mix it up and get outside some. If you ever want to run an actual race, the treadmill will not prepare you very well for that. Treadmill and road are two totally different animals.

How long ago is "a while ago"? If you've been running for at least a year, you're safe to increase mileage, do speedwork, or both.
