Where do you think I can get his tank top?

My husband and I meet at the gym 2x week then on the weekend the neighbor girls come watch the kids and we hit the weights. Romantic, I know. We lift and then sit in the hot tub. But, if you're looking for something even more romantic than lifting weights... ice skate! does your city/town have a walking path? hike!…

What kind of machines/lifts are you doing? How many reps and sets?
-
No idea but I love sitting in the hot tub after lifting heavy :) I don't think I could do it after a more vigorous spin-cardio type workout though.

Throw in some intervals! I cannot run on a treadmill for more than 20 minutes unless I do intervals. I will fall off the treadmill due to boredom. Also, intervals are a crazy good workout and give you awesome results. And, not boring. Try it! Long runs I do outside. So I dodge traffic, keep the dog from eating people,…

I had pain while running back in November. Tried different shoes, backed off a bit, etc. Finally got to the point where I was gimping after only a mile so I went to see my nurse practitioner. She told me to rest completely, gave me anti inflammatory meds, ordered an MRI (which my insurance denied), referred me to a ortho…

I love that so many people are motivated....but if you and your friend are sitting on two benches in the weight room playing on your phones and have not touched a single weight, please leave. Seriously. They even had some guy with big arms there with them that could have helped them if they were overwhelmed.

I'm a puker. If I work out early (before 8am) and have even half an apple beforehand, I'm going to puke. I thought for sure I was going to go down on Monday, I coached 6am bootcamp them my boss asked if I wanted to workout...all I had in my stomach was WAY too much coffee. Managed not to, but just barely. I really think it…

I think, like any exercise routine, it's dependent upon how far you take it and what the instructor is like. I'm starting to get into it, it's fun! I really like it. I am totally a puker no matter what exercise it is, so I'm sure I will puke before long :) And there is no way I am giving up bread. Or cheese.
-
It really depends on you. I'm a known puker so if I work out before about 8am I can't eat anything. If I will be up for a couple hours before the workout then I have a light breakfast, get my workout in, then have a big snack after. Try to get in some carbs and plan your post workout snack to be carbs/protein mix.

Spin is awesome! I did it regularly for a year and kinda got burnt out on it so I haven't been in ages. I did get my hubby hooked on it though, he goes twice a week. I laughed on his first day because he didn't take my warnings seriously (take water, take a towel, it's going to kick your butt) and he texted me from the…

To me, soreness means that whatever I am doing is working-it's forcing my body to change and adapt to the stresses I put on it. So I think of it as a good sign. I'm extremely sore this week and the first couple minutes of a workout is pretty ouchy but once I get going I feel so much better. Keep at it! You're doing awesome!

I shamelessly hit on my husband while we're lifting together. Does that count? I also picked him up at the gym. Left my number on his sports car on a bet and wondered if I'd have to change my gym schedule when he didn't call.

Double jogger is the way to go. Check craigslist! I'm going to have to sell my BOB soon and will probably cry. My 5 year old is only 35 lbs but she's getting pretty darn tall for it...need to get her to ride her bike more! What is also great (sarcasm coming!) about running with kids is the constant "Why are you running…

How long have you been lifting? Whenever I take any time off I get really sore the first week. My legs are so sore that it hurts getting up off the couch right now thanks to 6 weeks off legs! My advice, assuming you are just getting started or starting a new weight, would be to stick with it a week-ish and then reevaluate.

The first 5ish minutes is the worst, your body is transitioning into exercise, your systems are being depleted as your aerobic "stuff" gets ready. I always look at my watch and think how the heck is it only 4 minutes?! Then I usually have another "ugh" point about 45 minutes in, then I'm good to go. I can't run right now…

Try two sports bras and a sports tank with the built in shelf. Works for me!

Wad up a few balls of foil, place a small whole chicken on top of it. Cook for a few hours and then add potatoes, carrots, onion. I made a semi-healthy tortilla soup the other day, I'll see if I can find the recipe link. Minestrone soup is always a good one, lots of veggies!
-
Just keep at it! I'd say do wall push ups. Or do half and half. Or switch it up each day. You WILL get it, just keep working!
-
So when you do lift weights you actually bulk up? Is that what you mean? Go for muscle endurance. Pick a weight that will tire you in 12-15 reps, rest for 30 seconds, repeat.

I lay out all my gear the night before so it will be there mocking me if I ignore my alarm. I also set 3 alarms. The first alarm I am usually confused as heck. Second alarm makes me swear. Third alarm gets me out of bed (and probably pisses my husband off). When I was able to run I would also have the dog in my face as…

For athletes, the ADA recommends 3-5 grams of carbs per pound of bodyweight.

I find that working out helps me feel better. So, as long as I'm not puking because of pain, I'll do whatever is scheduled for that day. I do take Advil or Tylenol to help though.
-
Since you have specific dietary restrictions you might want to talk to a doctor or nutritionist. That said, if you are running for an hour at a time you should have 30-60g carbs/hr. Or do you mean in general not while running?

This is a great challenge, it really works! Enjoy!
-
pushups! dips on the couch. lateral/front raises with a bag of potatoes. bicep curls with a giggling toddler.
-
Nice job everyone! I got a few miles in this week, first two runs were great, yesterday was painful. So, calling doc this week :( Happy New Year everyone!
-
Pushups, dips (use the edge of the couch), planks, lunges, squats would be a good start! Do you have any bands? They are inexpensive and can add a lot to a home routine!

I think I'll just get the chest plate with the carved six pack. Seems easier. Can you picture me running down the street in Trojan armor with my dog? Ha! That would be awesome. I like being able to see my muscles when I flex my abs, but really, I am probably never going to have the full-on "manly" six pack just walking…
