  • Are you lifting? I have quite a bit of fat to lose, and after seeing some good losses initially, I thought weight training would speed it up. GAINED weight, but the tape and clothes are telling a different story.
  • I was just talking to my trainer the other day about this...he suggested one day of a high-carb diet to shock the system and jumpstart the fat-burning process. Haven't tried it yet, but it makes sense.
  • That's gonna suck, sorry, bro. If you can handle it, I think I'd try to maintain what you're doing as much as possible. The missing calories will probably for the most part go unnoticed by your body. After that, though, I'd say you've earned a Skinny Cow ice cream sammich or two... :noway:
  • Go to the food database and search val's hawaiian or boboli. Haven't tried this one myself, but for someone that doesn't cook much, Boboli crusts are a good base to start with...just count up your cals for toppings and experiment!
  • Yep. :glasses:
  • Great answer! People for the most part get that. The ones that don't, well, if you have to explain it they wouldn't understand.
  • Don't overthink it...MFP has put some thought into this calculator to do all the heavy thinking for you. Generally speaking, if you plug in all the data at the beginning, (GW, SW, how much you want to lose per week) the calculator tells you how many calories you need to take in to meet those goals. If you exercise and log…
  • Naaaah...you're just trying to stay cool, I get it. I had to go through military training in Bama for 6 weeks. Think I was still sweating 3 weeks after getting back to Alaska! Anyway, what you got going on sounds normal, keep goin'!

  • One reason I hate the hamster wheel... You'll get some vertigo after several minutes on a treadmill, mostly caused by going from a moving surface to a steady one. I can't say it gets better with time, but you do become accustomed to it. You should only feel it for a few minutes, and for me it only happens when I'm walking;…

  • I like your initial idea; eat back you excercise cals. Do it smart, get a bit more protein and drink a lot of water. You won't gain, not fat anyway. Have you been tracking measurements? If not, you might want to try that as a motivation tool, although it doesn't seem you'll make great gains on measurements; as you said…
  • I've found that getting more protein really helps to kill the carb cravings. I know carrot stix and all are great for you and lo-cal, but they just never di it for me. After some serious label reading and shopping I found the answer at Costco (of all places). Nugo bars are about 170 cals and have a fair amount of protein.…
  • I usually eat those exercise calories back; I don't want my body going into starvation mode. I think you need to get those calories in you (ONLY those, don't go crazy) to keep your body fed well enough to continue to lose. It's worked well for me so far. Granted, I'm only 2 weeks in, have a helluva lot more weight to lose,…
  • Got this from the Vita-Mix guy...don't think it would work well in a regular blender, but it rocks in the VM! You kinda need to be a margarita fan, it's got some pucker to it. He did say you could add tequila for a nice "healthy" rita, but I've sworn off alcohol at least until I hit my goal weight: Spinach-Lime smoothie 4…
  • FatBoy in the house! Just joined last week. Guess I can "weigh" in.
