  • So funny you should post this today! I was out with some friends last night and one was kind of drunk. I hadn't seen him in quite some time and he kept going on about how good I looked. When the conversation turned to just the two of us he was asking about it, I explained, and he just stayed on topic. I eventually managed…
  • So jealous! i can't wait until I'm a success story. SD: April 2014 SW: 250lbs CW: 206lbs GW: 150lbs
  • I'm trying to lose 100lbs, 110 if I go for the bonus round.
  • I very rarely have critics among people who know me because, I think, they're afraid of me. And I love it. If someone decides to tell me what I can/cannot eat? They know they are in for a verbal brawl. "Who the hell are you to tell anyone what they need to eat, what with blood pressure like yours?" I'm also perfectly fine…
  • Been a 2X for years now, but all my clothes are getting big on me. I ordered a new shirt in a 1X. It arrived yesterday ... and was way too big.
  • Couple things. 1. If your SO has fantasies about banging your blood relatives, it's likely time to find the door no matter how 'honest' that person is. 2. People applaud 'honesty' to avoid dealing with other red flags. As my example above shows, there is likely an issue, or at the very least a long discussion, that needs…
  • Eh ... so many people today use 'honesty' as an excuse for being generally terrible people. "I told my girlfriend how much I want to bang her sister ... look how HONEST I am!" Honesty is a good thing, but so is tact and being respectful. Using honesty as a crutch because you're REACHING to find a nice thing to say about…
  • Seriously though, if you can't handle counting calories, why would being more strict about how you count calories be better?
  • I would always recommend not moving in together with someone you've dated for less than a year. Personally I wouldn't have moved in with my fiance until we were married, but we could afford to save for the wedding better this way so we moved in after we got engaged. For a lot of people, moving in together early works. But…
  • I'm 5'6". No photos yet (maybe I'll have someone take a picture of me soon though, maybe at 50lbs down) but my story so far: April 2014: 250lbs (Highest in my life) CW: 209lbs GW: 140-150lbs I'm not even halfway there yet, and sometimes I can't imagine I'll ever get there. But then I look at my ticker, and remember how…
  • If the guy didn't want to be perceived as rude, he shouldn't have done a rude thing - no matter his intentions or childhood history.
  • I'd punch him in the throat. It's got nothing to do with the weight issue, and everything to do with the rudeness issue. I can't abide rude people.
  • It sounds like you're trying to go from 0-60 in no time flat. For me, it was a slippery slope. I started aiming for 1500 calories and more workouts. That became comfortable after 2-3 weeks, so I went down in calories a bit more and upped my workouts. Now I'm at 1200-1400 calories per day (I prefer aiming for a range rather…
  • I lost about 30lbs by starting with eating back those calories, and then slowly eating less and less back. Now I eat none back. Don't jump into it, whatever you do. It's a process.
  • I tried to build beer into my diet, but even when I'm under my calories, I notice that it can stall my weight loss. That said, I am having a beer tonight. So ... ya know. Moderation, I guess, and hope that it goes well.
  • For every fat person I have ever met - including myself - fat shaming has done nothing but make the problem worse. It was only when I became totally in love with myself that I began my weight loss journey and that sentiment has been echoed all across the fat acceptance community. Want to combat obesity? Worry about…
  • I'm in your camp. I KNOW I am too lazy to perfectly measure everything. I measure things every now and again, to make sure that my "eyeball" or "palm full" measurements aren't too far off the mark, but if I really food-scaled every single bite I'd get fed up and stop doing it all. So I keep myself to a measured 1200…
  • Don't ask about how people lose 200lbs in a year, because it likely doesn't apply to you. People who lose 200lbs in a year tend to have a very high starting weight, like 500+lbs. Unless you're in that camp, don't try to achieve their results because it's comparing apples to oranges. It sounds like you might be plateau-ing…
  • Could the period thing be unrelated to your weightloss and plateau? I went through a couple of times of changing bc prescriptions and, as Mr. Universe would say, it played "merry merry" on my lady business. It all leveled out eventually, so it might be a question for your doctor as it could be entirely unrelated to weight…
  • Maybe I'll be posting here in the next month or two. I'm not quite 50lbs down yet since April 2014. SOON!!!
  • I have body image issues. But I compensate knowing how freaking awesome I am in every other possible way. So, there's that.
  • Agreed - another reason to weigh myself every day. Growing up we didn't have scales in our house, it was all a matter of looking in the mirror to see how you were doing. I will never go back to that ignorance, and I want to get up every morning and step on the scale so that I never look down and get sudden shock that I've…
  • I know I shouldn't, but I weigh myself every day because I am impatient. I couldn't sustain any other way. I'd get too frustrated, too fed-up. It seems to be working well enough for me, so far, but I know I am abnormal in this.
  • I will say that whenever I go out to the country (my fiance's family has a house out there) where we get our milk from the dairy, our veggies from the farm, and our meat from the local butcher, I BLOW my calorie intake. It's so good, so fresh, so fattening! I feel really healthy, but a healthy calorie is still a calorie. I…
  • I hate going to the gym, however I do love going for walks. I was eating back about half of my 'walking' calories (I usually do 10,000 - 20,000 recreational steps a day) but at 35lbs down I hit a stall. Got some advice to separate workout from food, so now I'm eating about 1100 - 1400 calories per day no matter what and…
  • In to support THIS OP's message.
  • I can't speak to your heart condition - I don't have anything like that (as far as I'm aware) nor do I know anything about it. However, the last 3 weeks I have been stuck in a plateau at 34lbs down. It only started moving again a few days ago. Here's the things I've already noticed: 1. Not eating back workout calories…
  • My fiance and I are super lazy. We both got so heavy (my highest in my life was 250lbs) because we were such bad influences on each other. Then we discovered how much we both love going for long, brisk walks. Now we're fabulous influences on each other. Lazy is not a permanent state of being!
  • Constantly thinking of food helps me, personally. Once I found my stride, found foods that kept me full, I'd be on this website several times a day just staring at my plan for the day and being proud of how good I'll do if I can just stick to that plan.
