I registered this weekend for the Half Marathon race at the Duke City Marathon in Albuquerque NM on October 19th. I will be walking against all the runners and I hope to finish somewhere between 2 hours and 30 minutes to 2 hours and 45 minutes. That is somewhere between a 12:30 and 13:00 mile pace. It should be a good…

Hopefully it was caught early and you can make a complete recovery. Prayers to you.

I like my Air Pegasus. I have tried Asics and Saucony and while they are OK I prefer the fit of Nike's.

I am a walker but I still wear shoes that give me very good arch support and cushioning. I wear the Nike Pegasus. I do not run because of the existing back and hip issues that I have. These shoes are considered to be in the neutral ride category as are the Vomero's that you mentioned. You might want to try something in the…

I don't too often comment on the message boards but here it goes. I have never tried the Quest bars you mention but I get Nature Valley - 100% Natural Protein Chewy Bars-Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate bars. They taste amazing and I am sure they are less expensive than the designer bars. They have 10 grams of protein per bar…

Good luck on your run. Hope you have fun.

I am a walker and I average between a 12:30 and 13:00 min/mile pace. At that pace the 6.2 miles will take about 1 hour and 17 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes. You should be able to finish your run easily before 2 hours. I use the MapMyWalk app on my phone to tell me my pace every half mile (configurable) and it also plays…

I have a grilling cookbook that has many different types of recipes from appetizers to desserts. Yes you can grill dessert. There is a recipe for Jamacian Halibut with fruit salsa that is very good. Halibut can be pretty pricey so I have done salmon filets and even tilapia. I use a grill pan on the grill sprayed with…

Just had my 6 month PSA check and my level is now .002. That is really close to being undetectable. That is very good news. Maybe that will come at my next check. Remember guys to get checked and ladies make sure to have your guys checked.

Best of luck on your race tomorrow. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished. Awesome job.

I walked the Biggest Loser HM in Las Cruces NM in January. I do not run due to back issues causing pain when I run. I use the MapMyWalk app on my iphone. I have it set to give my pace every 1/2 mile. It also will play any playlist you have on your phone. MapMyWalk can also sync with MFP. It does it for me. I try to keep…

Thanks for the comment. I just walk as fast as my stubby little legs will go. Having the MapMyWalk app on my phone really helps since it tells me my pace every 1/2 mile (configurable to whatever you want). That helps to let you know that you are staying at the pace you want. I find it very helpful.

I grill my salmon and I too like to try new things. I found a recipe for Salmon with pineapple salsa. It is so good. I add jalapeno to the salsa to give it a little heat. Here is the link to the recipe http://www.mccormick.com/Lawrys/Recipes/Main-Dishes/Salmon-with-Pineapple-Salsa Hope you give it a try, it is very good.

Let me start off by saying you are going to have to start running soon if you want to complete a half marathon run. Am I correct in assuming that you do not run at all now? I have done a half marathon walk and walk at a very brisk pace. I do not do the racewalking thing. Your legs, hips and other body parts need to get…

Lamb burgers are very simple really. Ground lamb with chopped mint and dill mixed in. I make them 6 ounces. I grill them outside. Be careful of flareups on your grill as the fat drips away. I have an infrared grill so the flareups are not a problem just quite a bit of smoke. Makes the neighbors jealous I think. Cut the…

I make my own tzatziki sauce when I make grilled lamb burger pitas. You can use greek yogurt but I just use the cheap plain yogurt and let the liquid drain. I put a wet paper towel in a colander, put the yogurt in and weight it down for about 15 minutes. I eyeball the quantity of ingredients so here it goes. It all depends…

No offense intended but I would throw my hips out of place trying to do that.

Thank you for the comments. I try to be as courteous as possible so I don't impede anyone. In the Biggest Loser Half Marathon the runners and walkers were on the same course. I actually finished before 113 runners did. If someone wants to pass me they are more than welcome to. I am not a racewalker by any means. I do not…

What's your goal time? 2 Hours and 40 minutes (Walking) Is this your first? No. Walked my first Half Marathon (Biggest Loser Half Marathon walk in Las Cruces NM) on 1/26/14 with a time of 2:47. That is a 12:46 per mile pace. My next one might be the Albuquerque Half Marathon in April and then the Duke City Marathon Half…

Super awesome job! That's great! :) [/quote] Thank you it was fun. Little sore for a couple of days but it was so worth it.
-
Thank you. I really enjoy walking so having a goal like this is the best way to stay motivated. My next half marathon will probably be in October

Finished the Half Marathon in 2 hours and 47 minutes. It was 5 th overall and 1st in my age group.
-
You can definately do this. I walk half marathons so I know you can walk it within the time limit you stated. I average a 12:46\mile pace and I finished in 2 hours and 47 minutes. If you run there is nothing that states that you cannot walk parts of it if needed. There were alot of runners in the half marathon I did that…

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2011 at age 45. Had salvage radiation treatments in 2013 because PSA levels where continuing to rise. First post radiation PSA check was very good at .009. Hopefully they continue to go down to an undetectable level. Will have recurring checks every 6 months. Just joined MFP and…

I started using MFP on the 15th of January. I have walked 39.4 miles so far in January. I use walking as my exercise program as a cancer survivor. I walk a minimum of 3 miles everyday at lunch and I will be doing the Biggest Loser Run/Walk Half Marathon on the 26th of January. I use races like this as motivation to get out…
