  • You can do it! You don't need luck...instead I wish you focus, determination and strength! :flowerforyou:
  • I like to cut out my starch at supper and go for veggies instead, I'm kind of spoiled because i live beside a market that has lots of fresh produce. I try to pick things that are a little more filling and low cal like Steamed brussel sprouts and or boiled beets. Also really love my veggie omlettes. I also like to make…
  • Are Screen names WITH pics Trustworthy? lol you're online always be careful.
  • Also I noticed you're 20 lower than your highest weight...that's nothing too sneeze at, good job!
  • The key is that you said you have seen a difference in your body shape...are you feeling good? do you have more energy? if so it's progress, keep at it! You may have to make some adjustments but you've made progress if you're feeling better than you did when you started (before you looked at the scale) :)
  • Well I usually start going over my calorie goals on Thurs to Sunday lol but I try to make sure I run when I do. I love wine...that usually does it. But so far so good! I've been down at least a half pound on a bad week and a whole pound and a half on a good week every weigh in.
  • Feel free to add me as a friend...I've been having consistant success for the first time EVER! So if I can help in anyway I'd be happy to. I'm down 10lbs in roughly 35 days and I certainly haven't been depriving myself or killing myself at the gym. :) It'll come just keep at it!
  • The BMI is a guide...that being said it's not based on how you would look at a certain weight, it's based on the percentage of body fat that you are carrying. The bmi is a number that says your body runs most efficiently at this percentage of fat. I personally think that if you are happy at a certain weight and your doctor…
  • Great to hear! Your kids will see you taking care of yourself and learn from that too.
  • I've been there but here's my BEST Advice...Exercise anyway!!! I can't stress it enough, push past the depression put some happy up beat tunes on and dance or run or walk or join a boxing class to get your emotional stress out or ZUMBA! Trust me I know you don't feel like it but it will also help you produce happy hormones…
  • I find it helps to judge by clothes I already own. Sometimes depending on the cut of the clothes and material you could take a different size when you get to the store.
  • I've heard this a LOT and try to practice it, also waiting 5 mins before going for seconds helps your brain have time to catch up to your belly. I also think that when you take your time an savour your food (especially if you love food as much as i do) it helps you feel more fufilled...kind of the quality not quanity…
  • I like to weigh myself every Wednesday or Thursday (find a day that works best for you) first thing in the A.M. after you pee but before you eat. I would recommend the day before to make sure you get a healthy dose of water and lower the sodium and sugar intake in case you have some water retention, I also stay away from…
  • Hummus for sure and brussel sprouts...man I love Brussel sprouts I'd never had them until i was 30 they're great steamed...or the bad for you way sauteed with bacon :)
  • I totally agree. Journaling has given me the most control even when you're way over your goals for the day journal it anyway!!! It'll help keep you focused on the days when you're feeling stronger and can make up for it a bit. Also planning everything ie: dinners out or big meals ahead of time so you can eat light the rest…
  • Congrats! I hit 9 this week at around 27 days so if all goes according to plan i should be at the 10 mark by next week!!! It's very exciting.
  • I think most of those ads are designed for people who want hard and fast weight loss answers...like don't eat these five foods and you'll be skinny forever. It's all designed to make it sound like there's 1 big secret that's going to change everything for them. I don't pay any attention to weight loss adds and after…
  • I love love love hummus the light version is around 40 cals for 2 table spoons. I usually pair it with Veggies like mushrooms or celery but when you're in the mood for somthing cruchier and more like chips i usually open a pita pocket so it's just two flat pieces and throw it in the oven on 350 until it's crunchy break it…
  • I guess better wording would be 1 pound of fat is not the same SIZE as 1 pound of muscle
  • yes! and give yourself some if you really need to but make sure you move a bit more. My trick is also flavored tea which is 0 cal but warm and comforting and when that doesn't work try Gardennay soup it's rich and filling but not too hard on the cals :)
  • It's a choice...we're always hardest on ourselves. Until you believe the mirror go by your clothes, keep a pair of pants that were snug when you were heaviest and put them on once in a while to remind yourself how far you've come.
  • Buy yourself a piece of clothing...and splurge something nice. A great fitting pair of jeans or a collard shirt.
  • I find when I start binging it's because I am not keeping my calories steady during the day...I dont' know what you do now but, based on 1200 cals a day (which is really quite manageable, if you're eating less you might not be eating enough) you could try eating 3 meals under 400 cals and save whatever calories you have…
  • oh Hummus is fantastic by the way and so is Tzatziki but only a couple tbl spoons...i tend to want to eat the whole container. I also find a half a box of Gardennay soup (harvest mushroom or asparagus and basil are about 90 calories and are thick and rich) with my salad or veggie sushi or just as a snack can make me feel…
  • Rule of thumb Stick to the outside of the grocery store and try to use whole grain whenever you can. Lots of water (anything in it and it's not water anymore!) Also i have found many many flavored teas that help (0 calroies) try Chai or Ginger or if you like sweeter try teas with hibiscus and rose hips in them.
  • MFP has taught me that just an extra helping here and there (all the time) really will hurt, when it comes to my weight. I could talk myself into anything and justify it before I knew the calorie counts.
  • That would be my advice too and to add to that, i've started drinking flavored tea (with nothing in it) after my meals especially if I don't feel satisfied yet. My favs are Chai, Ginger and Apple Cinnamon...but there are tons to choose from.
  • I also have scoliosis in lower and upper but not as severe...I do run but was looking into other things in case my joints begin to not like it. A great option I read about is deep water aquacise!!! if you have a place near you that offers that please look into it. It's virtually no impact on your joints but the water…
  • Nobody knows what you need better than you do... I'm guessing you started this weight loss journey because you decided you needed to do it for you, it's hard, it's draining and from what I can see you've made some great progress, if you feel you're done for now it won't affect anyone more than it will affect you :)
  • Don't get too hung up on the scales if you're losing inches! If you're anything like most of us you're doing what you set out to do SHRINK! Congrats!!
