When I did C25K (last summer) I used to get up early in the week and run in my village between 6 and 7am. Now I run in the evenings during the week (1 5K+ road run on my own and 1 10Kish trail run with running club), then a 5K trail parkrun on Saturday mornings and a longer trail run on Sunday mornings. I'm very lucky…

Yup, I've run a 10K where headphones were banned - apparently it was UKAA road regs - it was a road race and not all the roads were closed so fair enough really. I also run 5K at parkrun each week and music is not banned but the guidelines state that they'd rather people didn't wear a headset because of listening to the…

So hot! Another 8 miles today to reach target!

Hey there! I've been running for just under a year (starting with couch to 5K) - planning to sign up for a half in September and I have a 10-miler next month. Have you seen the X miles in a month group? Great for getting your miles up, I started with 50 a month and just about to complete 75 :glasses:

Me again - parkrun this morning and another 3.1
-
5K race and afterwards I ran to the shop for some yogurt....3.6 miles today!
-
Definitely try running - see if you like it and if you do, it's a good burn, plus you can just put your shoes on and head out. If I warm up for 5 minutes, run 5K and cool down for 5 minutes, that's around 300 calories gone (disclaimer: depends on weight etc). i should mix it up and do all sorts of different things...but I…

<--- C25K without a doubt! I started it last June and...well, look at the pic, I've joined a running club and doing a 10-mile run this June.

3.9 HOT miles today - tapering for a race on Friday!
-
Good luck all! I'm a C25K graduate and it is SO worth doing!
-
Hi there, I'm also fairly new to running (started last year with C25K then Bridge to 10K)). When I started running a bit further, say over 7 miles, I started taking a water bottle and also when I got over 8 miles I started taking a few jelly babies just in case I felt like a snack (I tried an electrolyte drink and it made…

Well, the Manchester 10K today clashes with my little boy's birthday party - so I've run my own 10K instead! 6.3 today.

Bit of a slow parkrun this morning, but hey, it's another 3.1...
-
I did the standard timed C25K programme and believe me, I was no runner - the first time I did it I barely managed to run 8 1-minute jogs! But by the end of the 9 weeks I could run for 30 minutes without a hitch and I did my first 5K race (parkrun) - without walking - in 30:08 - and it was hilly and I did go the wrong way…

Well done! You are now officially invincible! :glasses:
-
Oof - a hard, hilly, puddly 6 miles today!
-
Evening all! Got the best of the day with a run in the sunshine after some very odd weather!
-
NSV! 12.1 miles today!
-
Hi, can I ask why you're looking for short friends? I'm 5 feet 2.5 by the way...
-
nurkrap! (every 20th run we go round the other way): 3.1

I agree with morgan9 - don't go too fast and make sure you have properly-fitted running shoes! It does get easier, I used to have all sorts of calf ache, thigh ache, lower stomach ache, stitch....not injury, just my body getting used to doing something I hadn't really done since school (whoops). Now I can run up to 10…

Hey, it's a 6.3 for a change!

Why not aim for a BMI of 24.5-25, which is at the upper end of normal, and then see how you feel when you get there? I'm 38 and getting down to a healthy BMI was my initial goal (original BMI 28) - but I'm quite small-boned and felt that I still had weight to lose. By then I'd taken up running and the exercise really…
-
I'm no expert - but it may be your body adjusting to the increase in distance. Also do you have properly fitted running shoes? I found when mine were wearing out that I started getting niggly aches and pains. I would suggest if you do anything different then better to have 2 rest days between runs and finish the programme…

Thanks guys!

Back on the horse...another 3.1
-
Bridge to 10K, I used the Bluefin Software one! 6 weeks start to finish.
-
Cheers DFWTT! When's your half? Do you have a time in mind? When I'm finding it hard going I tend to either count makes of car (if I'm running on the road) and see which gets to 5 first, or recite poetry in my head. Maybe I need to learn some longer poems!

GRRR! My long run got cut short by an unexpected tree stump...3.7 today.

bump?! :flowerforyou:
