  • Maybe the OP has only been eating apples for the last 3 years now.
  • I'm heading on vacation to Hawaii in about 2 weeks for 10 days. I have a small, portable food scale that I can pack in my luggage. We've rented a house so I should be able to track my breakfast and lunch accurately, plus the house has a fitness room. Dinners will be harder since different people are taking turns making…
  • Do you have your stride set correctly on your Fitbit? Obviously though, stride is different between walking and running, but if you haven't set it at all that might help.
  • Anyone is welcome to add me. My goal initial goal was at least 125 pounds lost... I've said goodbye to 36 of them so far! :)
  • Zombies, Run! C25K is *great*!
  • I really love the Zombies, Run! C25K app. Just did Week 6, Day 2 yesterday. As a highly *unmotivated* runner, this app has been the only thing to get me running on a consistent basis. I like that there's a story that you're a part of - a reason that you're doing this training - that advances each time you do the next…
  • http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-to-me/lindsey-averill-fat-acceptance-death-threats Just one example of why there needs to be some more widespread fat acceptance/positivity in the world! Or did she deserve it for doing something to try to dissuade folks about the stereotypes/assumptions of fat people? It just saddens me…
  • I think it really depends on what type of exercise you're planning on doing most often. I have the Fitbit Zip and absolutely love it, since it accurately tracks the walking and running I do for exercise, plus lets me know how much I'm generally moving around during the day. All of the graphs and charts plus weekly stats…
  • Got out for a quick (~2 mi) hike after work yesterday. This area is Fort Funston, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It's a good workout even for a short hike, since the area is all sand dunes so any time you're going up hill you really have to work for it!
  • I'm having the same issue today as well - only my top 25 friends are showing up. I was worried because one of my friends is my mom and when I didn't see her in my list I thought she de-friended me! I was trying to figure out what I did to make her upset... But, no, she's still my friend... but for whatever reason I…
  • I don't understand. Looking back at your diary for the past couple weeks I think I saw one or two days with sodium in the red. And those days the sodium came from things like hot wings. And on those days you were *just* over the sodium limit, not overly so. I seriously hope you're not drinking 10 gallons of water a day -…
  • Lots of their frozen fish (fillets and burgers) as well as some of their fresh/seasoned fish - the cajun salmon and the hazelnut/pecan salmon fillets are both really good. Smoked salmon Chevre Usually a prepared salad or two to take to work - I like the Miso Salmon and the Shrimp/Surimi Louie Eggs Avocados I often get…
  • Mushroom peeling is a thing?! Didn't know it was even possible to peel a mushroom! I am an avid mushroom eater, both store-bought as well as wild mushrooms I forage for. Have never peeled one in my life.
  • If you have your Fitbit and MFP synced together, then no, you shouldn't be earning double calories when you enter your non-step-based exercise into MFP, as long as you're accurate about your start and end times. Doing that "erases" those active minutes from Fitbit. Any active minutes you get via step-based activities that…
  • I just finished week 5, day 1 of the Zombies, Run C25K program today! It's great, and pretty much the only thing that could make me excited about running. The story keeps me motivated and wanting to do the next run so I can hear more. Definitely recommended! And the C25K app comes between Mission 1 (which you'll do anyway…
  • You could also add in snacks that just have a small amount of sugar but fill you up. I LOVE the Power Crunch protein energy bars because they taste like wafer cookies, complete with cream inside. But they have only 5 g of sugar and 13 g of protein, so they satisfy my sweet tooth AND fill me up for awhile because of the…
  • Just did week 4, day 3 yesterday. On to week 5 tomorrow!
  • I seriously feel sorry for any overweight person who ends up with you as their doctor (or nurse, or whatever it is you're studying to be). Loving your body in any state that it's in is NOT glorifying that state. Loving yourself is so much more healthy than hating yourself, no matter what your size is. The majority of…
  • Here's a pretty eloquent blog written by a doctor who had his unconscious fat-shaming brought to light for him by someone involved in the fat acceptance/HAES movement. It was an eye-opening moment for him to realize the preconceived notions he had about fat people without even really knowing he had them. And a very…
  • I also love my Zip and clip it to the center of my bra where it's totally unnoticeable. Between the Flex and the Zip, beyond the wrist vs. pocket/bra option, you should also decide if you want to track the stairs you climb and your sleep. If those are important, than get the Flex (or the One). If those aren't important,…
  • Yep,smn is right. Make sure you're looking in the food database for entries WITHOUT an asterisk by them - those will be official USDA nutrition information entries. And then make sure if you're weighing something raw, that the database entry you're using also indicates that it's raw weight.
  • If you want to get the genuine "cooking over the campfire" (or in this case, IN the campfire!) experience, this is one of my favorites: Campfire calzones: 1. Either make some whole wheat pizza dough at home before you leave, or buy a bag of the pre-made. 2. Roll it out into multiple smallish circles (think soft-taco size…
  • Yep, center of my bra, facing out for me. It's totally unnoticeable.
  • Moist is 100% the worst word ever. EVER.
  • And this is why I love having an ad-blocker. I have never ever seen an ad on MFP.

  • Working in the field - I can spend a long afternoon outside in the tide pools surveying and collecting data for research, and it's a bit of a drive back to my house. I'm usually pretty wiped out by the end. All I want to do is stop along the way and get a burrito from the local taqueria or a sandwich from the coffee shop…
  • I met my current boyfriend of 5 years on OKCupid, and he's amazing and the love of my life. It's not that hard to filter out the creeps online - you never have to meet them in person. Yes, you'll meet some nice guys online and will have to go on some awkward first dates that don't go anywhere for various reasons... but…
  • Make both the "IMG" lowercase. And just have the direct url to the image in between the "img" indicators.
  • We just had a new park open last week - the trail is a former section of Highway 1 in an area called Devil's Slide. The road had to be closed so often due to slides that they eventually built a tunnel that was completed last year. It's awesome that they turned the old road into a walking/biking path! Finally had a chance…
