My first time coming across this challenge and I am in. Don't know what kind of mileage to aim for so I figure 50km should be reasonable since I'll be biking, swimming and walking. Nice to meet everyone!

Have been stuck in the 140's for over 10 years. Have a friend's wedding in Jamaica in April 2014 and am aiming to lose 15lbs and get under that 140 mark once and for all. Height 5"5' CW 147 GW 140 Ideal GW 135

Nice to meet everyone :) Doing my first half on Oct 27th - YIKES! I started doing Triathlons a few years ago - my running is the weakest and since I want to start doing longer races, I have to start running longer, LOL! By the end of summer, I could run up to 8k so decided to jump on a 12 week program to half marathon. I'm…

I'm in too but can't find group :(

Thanks! I never thought of the body glide - I always associate it with my wetsuit, LOL! On closer inspection, the sports bra I was wearing has seamed cups and I think my skin got pinched. I have another sports bra that doesn't have any seaming so I am going to try that one next time with a little glide and hopefully that…

Best advice to prepare for OWS... do an OWS. Hook up with a tri club or if you are too intimidated, get a friend to go with you to a small lake or quiet bay and follow you in a boat or kayak to make sure you are safe. I grew up swimming in pools so that first time in the lake, I kind of hyperventilated a little. The water…

With regards to sleeves vs sleeveless - it does depend on where you live. The reason I have a wetsuit is because that water is COLD first thing in the season - my first race is in June and we aren't able to get into the lake until late May and that water is freezing! Otherwise I would just be swimming in my swimsuit (which…

I've done about 6 try-a-tri's over the last few years and my first sprint last summer. If you are swimming indoors, you will be fine in a swimsuit. I have my shorts waiting for me at transition and you can also throw a t-shirt on over top as well - your transition time may not be great but it's a good chance to catch your…

I have shoulder length fine hair and I HATE wispies blowing in my face and making me itchy. I also don't know how to braid my own hair - sad, I know. Anyways, I use a bandanna. Hair is in a low ponytail (so the helmet will sit proper) and after the swim, I pull the bandana over my head, take off the swim cap, then pull the…

Congrats!!! My first couple of try a tri's were on a mountain bike but like the rest of us who get addicted, you will upgrade eventually :)

I was there too!!! I did the Try-a-tri on Saturday. Beat my time from last fall by almost a minute :) Absolutely a great day and no travel for me!! Our tri club trains out at Guelph Lake all summer although the lake starts to get a little gross by mid summer...

Typical day starts off with oatmeal which has some dried cranberries, flax seeds, brown sugar, milk with a 1/2c of juice. Snack around 10am is a Kashi bar of some sort. Lunch has been a whole wheat bun with oven roasted chicken breast, 1/2 slice of cheese, some veggies and a bit of dip, fresh fruit and yogurt. Dinner can…

I have NO idea but I use endomondo too and if it is possible, I would like to know. I just usually enter my calories burned that the endomondo generates and put into myfitnesspal. In most cases they are fairly similar. If anyone else knows, I would be interested in the answer :)
