Not yet... but living in hope... ;)

thank you! no really though. We all know about taking photos that make us look good. high angle etc. but thank you anyway. x
-
really? your photo looks too good to someone who drinks pints of ale????
-
Good advice right there. thanks Svetzza. x

Amen to that OP, I drink most of my calorie allowance 3 days a week with alcohol. But, hey, calories are calories. So long as you keep under your daily calorie goal what does it matter whether it's Big Macs or bottles of hooch? (I'm sure it matters somehow but MFP is obsessed with just eating under a calorie deficit each…

Hey, I'm not sure if it helps any, but I'm trying to get fit before 40! So you've got a whole ten years to enjoy yourself before you have to start worrying like me. mx

I become more me when online. I find it easier to call out *kitten* when I hear it online. But also I find it easier to style my ideal self when online. I think the bottom line is to have compassion in everything I do - writing online or talking face-to-face.

haha. Dr. Zealey77 highly recommends this ;) Check it out though, you'll be amazed by the weight loss. (Of course soon as you drink the water back next day it'll return to normal, but it's really incredible for an instant comedy weight-loss buzz) mx

Haha. Nope, I haven't done a 'technicolor yawn' (vomiting) on booze since I was a teenager. Not good to get quite THAT messy! I couldn't believe the scales though. How can it fluctuate so much?.

Thank you everyone for sharing. And I really mean that, thank you. Everyone's story is different, unique and personal to them. My issue is low self-esteem and ego. Cognitive Dissonance I think they call it. LOL. On the one hand I realise my quality and skills, but on the other hand I am plagued by insecurity and a…

thank you. I agree but maybe you are drawing some of your strength from having met someone who shares your world view? Would you still feel the same way tomorrow without him? Maybe you would, I'm not judging you, but I've never met that 'other half' or 'significant other' yet so feel alone in my choices. x

You're 22? Wow, I'm nearly 40, so forgive me if this sounds creepy but I'm saying it for truth - you have a very wise head on your shoulders. Thank you for your advice. With such an enlightened view of the world at such a young age then I reckon anything you choose to do will be a success. Weight isn't an issue.I wish I'd…

Ah wow, you've made my day with that post. Thank you x It's hard though - the pressure I feel to be 'normal' (whatever normal really means). On a side note, I'm a 39 year old white guy and if I'm feeling this pressure to conform from society, then god only knows what a teenage girl must feel growing up seeing social media…

brilliant and inspiring hmaddpear. yeah - I'm totally feeling that. x

Thanks Matthew - kind and insightful words. I think you are probably further towards your goal than you realise - only a genuinely compassionate good person would have taken the time to respond as you did. Glad to be your friend on here too. M

Haha, that's a strong reaction to cauliflower- did you have a bad experience with it as a child ;)
-
Egg noodles - excellent advice! I hadn't considered that. Thanks. That's what I'll do instead. x
-
I know this probably sounds stoopid, but all the info on the rice and pasta just says for 85g or per 100g - it never says whether that is cooked or uncooked weight.
-
great advice. thanks. I'm starting with that tomorrow. x
-
So what is this new kind of motivation for you then? That's what I'm trying to find. Sure you talk a good game, but what was it for you?

My February dream is to shift my beer gut without burning any lean muscle. So far I seem to be losing weight off my legs and surrounding body whilst the belly be living proud and large. If I was female I could blame it on being 7 months pregnant, but as a big ole hairy male I don't think that excuse will fly ;) 'lol

If you've done it before then you can do it again. I reckon the body is like one of those 'memory foam' mattresses, same as riding a bike too. If you've done it before you never forget. Go for it! I've never done it before though, so my body memory is set at that Stay Puft Marshmallow dude from Ghostbusters ;) (If you over…

You go girl too. Congrats. Usually it's being 20 and no brain, or 40 and no body- you've now done it. Great mind and great body too. More power to you! Enjoy your vacation. mx

Happy for you to add me, if you want.

50/50% to be honest. It's not my serious goal, but I'm 40 this year and would like to be 'buff' for once in my life before the inevitable slide down to middle-age. Either Speedos or a Mankini for comedy value - just for the classic 'Before / After' photo ;)
-
Yes. That's what I was looking for. Great answer. Thanks. I will do.
-
REALLY DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT! I weighed myself on Monday and I was 16 stone 11 pounds, I weighed myself again on Tuesday morning and I was 16 stone 5 pounds. Yeah right - I lost 6 pounds in a day?! It's all fluctuations, so don't sweat it. I've spent the week under calorie goal and exercising massively (for me) and now 4…

No apologies needed, please. I enjoy good debate. I'm just saying you are no more right than he is, despite what you both believe. It depends which reports/scientists you choose to believe and cite. For every ten studies saying yay there'll be another ten saying nay, etc... ...And that was the point of my original…

I'm not taking sides, but as it's my thread I just wanted to say that whether it's weight-loss or astro-physics by the nature of science (to propose a theory then set about proving/disproving it) you can always find a hundred people who are qualified to say 1800 is minimum for a man, or 1400 is minimum, etc). As I'm…
