  • The Think Thin protein bars (god how i hate that name) have zero sugar ... although they have "alcohol sugar" (you can wiki it, it's not actually from alcohol). I would LOVE to gain muscle but it's unlikely that i'll see much gains while i'm only eating this level of calories ... and i have been losing weight steadily so i…
  • i really hate milk and can't bring myself to drink it, but i'm ok w/ yogurt. Not much of a fan of bacon either, i try and stick to lean cuts of red meat and make sure my chicken is well trimmed ... i guess i don't see the value of adding more animal fats to my diet? I add fat into my diet w/ nuts and avocados, is there any…
  • thanks, i do alternate my protein bar w/ 2% cottage cheese for breakfast ... i tend towards small breakfasts because i don't have much of an appetite in the morning. I wasn't going to mention this but i'm married to a vegan so my meals might involve less meat than most people's? I basically get my meat in during lunch and…
  • Getting more protein without getting more carbs, sugar, fat and cholesteral is going to take protein shakes i think, i'm pretty much at my meat-intake limit. Thanks! I do have access to an unsweetened protein shake via True Nutrition that tastes ok so i can do that (pretty much all of the GNC stuff i've looked at has sugar…
  • ok, fat stats are up ... kinda surprised at "more protein" rec since i thouh it was fairly high, how much would you say i should be getting daily?
  • where are your vegetables? Add roasted broccoli or greanbeans when you eat your chicken. Add some salad in there, just buy a bag of mix and add in some nuts and sliced apple if you don't like garden salads. You really have very little fruit/veggies in your diet. How are you getting your fiber in?
  • the stuff that comes in blocks is amazing on burgers or anywhere you want it to melt. The shedded stuff is somehow less moist and harder to melt but the flavors are good on both. Daiya has the best texture of the vegan cheeses i think (cheddar especially).
  • you've been trolling this thread like crazy, please link to this scientific and credible set of studies you are refering to. RaeLB posted the ADA link, where is *your* backup for your naysaying exactly?
  • ok, one more thing from me, here is a GREAT link to some super vegan recipes: http://ohsheglows.com/categories/recipes-2/food-entrees/ enjoy! Even if some of you out there are not vegan i highly recommend looking through vegan cookbooks for ideas - you can really find amazing ideas for adding more veggies into your diet.…
  • Truffles58 - great rec on the Veganomicon, we made their Lasagna over the weekend (ok, it took us FOREVER, it felt like a triathalon of cooking! but we did their tofu ricotta w/ spinach and made a "meat" layer with roasted eggplant, mushrooms and spicy italian seitan ... and a homecooked sauce w/ roasted onions and red…
  • i have no idea why someone else simply being vegan enrages some people (i do know a few people were concerned for your child based on your initial comment, but you addressed that already), i've gotten some really ****ty comments over the years from unexpected sources. I have no idea why ... seems like they'd be thrilled,…
  • My husband went Vegan three years ago ( i eat occasionally non-vegan meals but it's rare). My advice is to go slow on this, maybe start of incorporating 80% vegetarian dishes and do a "Vegan Weekend" and see how you like it. Vegan *can* be very healthy, but just because it's vegan doesn't make it healthy, i know plenty of…
  • yes! the pea protein is awesome - mixes very clean and doesn't have a lot of taste so the falavors come through nicely. good stuff!
  • I get ya ... but i backed into lifting weights via the aesthetics route and rehabbing a lower back injury. That isn't my MAIN motivation anymore, but it's still a big part of my motivation and is likely to be for a while. Now that i've met my original weightloss goals (i'm actually right at the weight i set out to be,…
  • Loving everything but #3 ... i'm thinking about that BF% dammit!! :)
  • OMG - I read this w/out looking at the icon and though "i need to friend this person right away ... " and if course it's YOU and we have been freinds forever. And rightly so <3 Fear, good add, i tend to forget about them. I shaved the sides of my head about 8 yeras ago for a death-rock hawk but i don't think i ever had a…
  • I'm a little amused by what is coming up on here as "punk" but i'll not comment, i listen to all sorts of stuff too :) If you like the Cramps, "Code Blue" era TSOL and Misfits you should check out what Horrorbilly (the substyle of Rockabilly) has to offer, those shows tend to be a really good time too. Now that the…
  • gotta add 7 Seconds since i haven't seen them mentioned yet :)
  • I got into the music via the Misfits (and early TSOL when they still did horrorpunk songs) <3
  • I grew up on Metal and Straight Edge punk :) As i've gotten older i've gotten more and more goth-looking and most of my friends tend to be goth too, I just never got into Goth music except for maybe the Sisters of Mercy and old stuff like that. If i listen to music while working out it tends to be metal (viking-metal…
  • >been on here for about 3 weeks >lost a couple pounds problem???
  • omg something worked for you them it must work for everyone else!! in exactly that same way! because we are all the same! ::eyeroll::
  • A lot of people i know do Zumba - much more like fun dancing than working out. Personally i like walking if i can't work out or don't want to etc. Just pop in some tunes and go out and enjoy nature or walk w. a friend :)
  • It's funny, i know some very fit Vegans and i know some very fat/unfit vegans ... it all depends on what you eat as a vegan, there's TONS of vegan junk foods and fatty foods too.
  • I had a similar experience ... i tried two different trainers and none of them wanted to work with me one on free-weights - they both wanted cardio (i can run OUTSIDE, i do not need a gym membership for that) with some machines thrown in to placate me ::eyeroll:: So i quit the gym. Purchased free weights, borrowed a copy…
  • I love whiskey, LOVE IT, and i like it best neat. Having said that, I drink it maybe once a week or less, and I limit myself to one double. I do that because it's very easy for my drinking to get to be unmanageable (for *me* i cannot speak for anyone else). It does sound like you are finding excuses to drink, you probably…
  • Anyone who's ever been on /fit/ has heard of Zyzz ...
  • Lol, sure, i'll just tell that to my VEGAN husband ... i'm sure he'll love the idea of simply eating some nice animal protein. /sarcasm you know, while i agree that getting your macros to where they need to be eating natural unprocessed foods *is* the optimal way to do it, i do not look down on protein shakes. They do fine…
