Eat whenever you like - shouldn't make a difference. I usually eat dinner around 9pm even though I work from home, it just suits me. I think often when places say to not eat after 6/8pm it's more about not snacking and over eating in the evening, for people who aren't counting calories. But when you're logging calories and…

I took a net of babybels to a festival last year and they were a great snack - they kept well since they're in wax and aren't dry like a lot of things you end up taking. Also fruit - bananas especially, since they have natural packaging. Some friends of mine brought bread, a jar of sundried tomatoes and some tinned fish to…

Stepped on the scale and saw 20 stone (280lbs) (I'm 5'4'') and thought enough is enough!

Scales will often vary slightly, so it's best to stick to the same one if you can (and same clothing or none, same amount of food eaten before hand, or none). There are two sets of scales in my house and I tested them a while ago, stepped on one, then on the other immediately after and there was a 2lb difference. Neither…

I also made a marinade with sweet chilli sauce (the hot variety) and added a little lemon juice, soy sauce, ground cumin, ground coriander (cilantro in us?) and finely chopped garlic. If you wanted it more sweet you could remove the soy or add some honey and for more heat add some fresh chilli or chilli powder. You could…

Were you thirsty? They* say thirst can often be mistaken for hunger, so maybe that's it? *no idea who 'they' are, just something I've heard multiple times!

Just wanted to update: for dinner tonight I had a salad with spinach, beetroot, apple, walnuts (of course), red onion and feta and it was so good! I've never put fruit in a salad before so thanks for the apple suggestion! and thanks for all the other suggestions everyone :flowerforyou: Me and my walnuts are going to have a…

I actually made a walnut and fresh oregano pesto last night! It was soo good!

Are the lentils dry to start off with? Just wanted to check as I've heard you can get them tinned. Sounds lovely!

As soon as I saw the title I knew exactly what you meant! I still have a long way to go, but I can now really feel my knee caps and they are showing a bit - also my elbows are now actually pointy! My collarbones are now slightly visible and I can feel some other bones in other places I couldn't feel them before. Sometimes…

I don't know if I'd mind finding a Tasmanian devil about my person... Apparently they can be quite the fashionistas themselves... Also, Congratulations!

Thanks everyone. A few things to try

salad/veggies seem to me to be the obvious answer. Look up what's in season where you live (google it and you'll find some lists) and they will be cheaper. Also as the above poster said, beans/pulses are cheap. With chickpeas you can make falafel and hummus. I made some really good baked falafels recently, and after…

Slightly diverging from the topic... but if anyone is interested, here is the ultimate, intelligently written response to the Daily Mail from Amanda Palmer after her nipple 'escaping' at her Glastonbury show was featured in the daily mail... http://amandapalmer.net/blog/20130713/ Watch the video! Although it includes…

Thanks both of you, all things I like, I'll try a spinach, rocket, apple/beetroot(or maybe both?), walnut and either goat's cheese or feta salad. Might even go nuts and add some boiled egg. Mmmm too bad I'm asking this after dinner! Any non salad ideas?

I had never thought to look for apps! Just searched for these in the play store (android) and have just installed gardenplate and SweetnSpicy veg (there is a non veggie one so make sure you get the right one). Looking forward to a browse. Thanks!

I tend to leave a little room for a treat after dinner (50-150cals) or if I'm going to the pub/out for dinner/craving a certain treat/meal or something then I'll eat light the rest of the day to leave room for it. That way I don't feel deprived of anything. I stay within my goal everyday, as in the past I rationalised…

Just converted 24 fluid oz - that's 710ml... did you type that right? Less than 3/4 of a litre per day? That's very low - no wonder you're dehydrated! Personally I've always been a pure water drinker, but it doesn't necessarily need to be pure water if you don't like it - try tea, sparkling water, flavoured water, or even…

"If you're a vegetarian how come you're so fat?" - a friend a few years ago :noway: When I was in junior school (about 10/11 years old) some boys in my class took to calling me 'boulder-[female dog]'. Yes, junior school. :frown: This doesn't sound rude initially, but when I was new at uni I went to a party and was mistaken…

Last night's dinner: Picked some beetroot and sautéed the stems and greens with onion, garlic, spinach, courgette (zucchini),mushrooms and grated carrot and added boiled beetroot, served with home made baked falafels, tzatziki and a boiled egg (evidently I had beetroot hands when handling the egg!) 483 cals, 28g protein…

Don't read the daily mail.

Since you want less fat, not beans or soy, it's down to fruits/veggies and grains. I've had a quick look around online, and it seems there are some vegetables that are high in protein: Peas, soy/edamame beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, spinach, sweetcorn(corn), avocado. Here are the more comprehensive lists I found.…

0% greek yoghurt 100g - 57 cals (I use Fage) raspberries 40g - 26 cals Clear honey 4g - 13 cals Smush raspberries so you have some chucks and some bitty juicey-ness, mix this and honey into yoghurt. Total: 96 cals I got this brownie recipe from another post, the blog says they are 100cals, but I used the same yoghurt as…

It depends on your starting weight... I've lost 38lbs and it isn't really noticeable... but then I'm aiming to lose 140lbs overall so...

I think It's all about balance. In terms of weight loss 1500cals of cake a day will have the same effect as 1500cals of 'clean eating' (whatever that means) but the cake won't fill you up and won't give you the nutrients. I tend to eat 'healthily' throughout the way (try to get good balabce of macros, lots of veggies etc -…

We can put on anywhere up to 10lbs (4-5kg) around period time due to water retention - it varies per person. You'll find after your period there will be a big drop (the fat you've lost + the water retention going down). Drinking lots of water can help, but the body may still retain water anyway. If you're sticking to your…

^love this! I know it's a bit weird to say a supermarket slogan, but this is what I say to myself on the scale: 'every little helps'

Explain your condition to the instructors and I'm sure they will be able to give you tips to help if there are some. Also the instructors will probably be poised and ready to help if you do turn over.

I'm not an expert but I think your body needs adequate calories to recover from something, so maybe you could eat at maintenance or a lower deficit for at least the first week or two. I know when I had an operation a few years ago, the nurse told me in hospital that this was not the time to worry about dieting as I needed…
