you don't have to have it, personally I just have a hard time getting enough protein from foods so I have 1-2 scoops a day. It is really hard to find sources of protein that don't have a lot of other macros as well. I just use the 100% whey GNC brand. My boyfriend has an account there and gets us some for really cheap at…

I have a Polar FT4. It appears to be very accurate!

You probably slowed down your metabolism when you were eating such low calories for such a long time along with intense exercise. Think about how much of a shock that is for the body?! You lose weight initially but the stress on the body is great when you eat such few calories and exercise that hard. It begins to believe…

Compound Lifts! but no matter how much muscle you have, you can't see your abs if there is a layer of fat on top. Deal with that with your diet.

Not gonna happen. It took four months of me working my butt off to lose 18 pounds. Granted I did lose the first 5 pounds in about a week and a half, but it was mostly water weight, not real fat loss. That being said, eat healthy (by healthy I mean fresh foods, the kind you find on the outside of the supermarket) and…

It is the iron in it. I get sick if I don't take mine on a full stomach. When I say full, I mean FULL. One cup of yogurt isn't going to do it. I also have to make sure I drink a glass of water with it as well.

I can definitely see this.

Considering your size, I think it is a reasonable to lose weight that fast. A lot of the initial weight loss is water weight so don't be surprised when the weight loss slows down. Just make sure you are eating and working out at a manageable and maintainable pace. Congrats on your weight loss and good luck on your journey!

just keep doing what you're doing. you won't get anywhere if you don't try. plus you're probably living a healthier lifestyle now, which is a plus. being healthy is what it is all about. oh, and I actually lost like 4-5 pounds the first week. it was mostly water weight though. You'd be surprised how bloated you are from…

wait, what?

Lift heavy. That will help.
-
yep, pretty much.

you severely damaged your metabolism when you were eating 1200 calories a day for a year. that is why exercise and bumping up your calories isn't working. your body got used to the low calorie diet and slowed down your metabolism to match. it takes a LONG time to repair it.

LOL... edited due to the fact that this tread is from over a year ago.

oh oh oh I like this one. or maybe fat could just migrate, like to my boobs.

You should be sore from a workout. Sometimes up to 48 hours. If your trainer is properly trained, he/she will have good info. Ask him or her next time you work out together. I'm sure you pay enough money to get a little advice on how to lower/eliminate excess soreness.

I swear to God this happens to me. Maybe I'm that weird exception with women. I had HUGE muscles at the age of 12. I don't even lift heavy now and I still have huge muscles. YES, lifting heavy is necessary for "skinny fat" but not for us naturally strong girls like me. I used to lift heavy in college and I would get even…

I always say a puppy. Close enough.

yep, you are probably right. that is why I (as a girl) "look fat" in clothes with only a 20.6% BF percentage. Muscle mass still takes up room. but it looks better naked.

love this

eating disorders don't always present themselves physically. they are very much hidden in MANY cases. and the fact that you don't think you are skinny enough is a sign.

My only advice: If you think you need help, you need help. I have never met someone (including myself) that has found a decent counselor and not been happy with the results. Yes, this comes from someone that is very interested in counseling as a profession, but it also shows that I know the field and the fact that you are…

I agree with you.

Honestly, there isn't much I can say without more information. Only thing I DO know, is you can't expect much of a change from one week, especially with exercise.

HUG, but then again I would probably hug anyone as long as they don't smell... ewww

You'll lose weight when you're anorexic but it messes up your metabolism and health. Personally, I don't believe the starvation mode myth. It might SLOW down weight loss, but you're still eating less than you're burning, by far. If you don't put anything into the body it will be forced to burn muscle and fat as fuel. You…

wait, is that a joke? that can't be real.

Where, from that, did you get that she is eating low fat and diet food. Why so quick to judge? She very easily could be eating fresh lean meats, fruits and veggies and staying under her calories. That being said, try eating more calorie dense foods. You really should be eating more than 1200 calories a day if you're…

I think you need to rethink your goals. I'm a hair over 5'3" and weigh 133. I am currently a size 0-2. It doesn't get much smaller than that for our heights. And I suggest not going to "drastic" measures to lose weight. It will only backfire.
