  • Thanks for the advice, I think I will try much smaller increments, I have got some 0.5kg plates, so can go up in tiny bits (why didn't I think of that- doh!!) I did wonder if it was worth doing arm work every day. My arms don't ache after a lifting session but I guess they still need the day off? I have lost a fair bit of…
  • Snap would love to join if there is still a chance
  • Now my daughter is back at school I am back to walking lots, which is great. Yesterday walked through a field full of shoulder high oil seed rape. It was lovely feeling like I was bobbing along in a sea of yellow- very cheery
  • updated - Thursday is my weigh in day
  • Aiming to up the exercise again after two weeks of doing the minimum due to kids and Easter holidays, today went for a 31 mile cycle ride, although not sure I am going to be able to do anything else today!!
  • Still feeling positive, been for a swim, done my weights session and now considering a walk. I could do with this positivity lasting, I'm loving it!!
  • I think I have done it, does it save automatically. I put my weight two days ago, my weigh in day is Thursdays and I have lost 1 lb so only 19 lb left to meet the challenge!! :drinker:
  • A pedometer is a great start, getting it in the correct position so it works, seems to be quite tricky. A cycle ride for me today, but a bit too much food as I still have 5 more days of the Easter holidays left!!
  • it is going to be a harder week for me, the schools here don't go back until Monday so I have another week of Easter holidays (aka overeating!!) Looking forward to a routine, in the mean time, just trying to do my best. I started 100happydays a couple of weeks ago and it is good to have a couple of minutes each day…
  • There is lots out there, last month I did the plank challenge and was impressed to get my plank up from 20s to 95s (although nowhere near the 5 mins that the plan aimed for. There is a cool app called plank a lot which has a timer and has all the days programmed in. This month I am doing a push up challenge (as well as…
  • Looking forward to the challenge of losing 20lbs for the summer. I would really like to lose 18lbs by the middle of July, but this will be really tough, but I am very motivated, just need to keep the motivation going. How are we going to use this group? Good Luck
  • Technically I am 39, but aiming to lose weight before my 40th birthday in the summer, going well so far, but plenty of time for it to go wrong. Feel free to add me!!
  • Boo hoo, just finished my B8 which means just two more workouts left the AMRAP as possible ones. Hope stage 2 is good.
  • Workout A7 today squats 60kg (132lb) Pushups - 17 std (did more than I should as I am also doing a push up challenge and today was 17!!) Barbell bent over row 42kg (92lb) Step ups 15kg (33lb) Prone jack knife 20 @redlipstickly I'm afraid I have largely ignored the nutrition side - I have tried to increase my protein…
  • @redlipstickly I guess it depends if you have got a lot of fat or not?? I do have a lot of fat, but I am amazed that despite still having far too much fat the definition of some abs is coming through. What I have noticed is that I am getting a proper waist and that the muscle is much harder and I am smaller than I think I…
  • Found todays workout tough, not sure if it was an "off day" or just getting to the limit of what I can do at the moment? Weights increased slightly, will be moving on to workout 7 of A on Thursday. Can't believe I am getting towards the end of stage 1, will have to start reading up on stage 2. Does anyone else find…
  • Managed to sneak a sly workout in today. Pleased to have got squats up to 52kg (114lb), the weights keep slowly going up (and I keep getting more tired every night - last night I was in bed by 8.30!!!) Never thought lifting would make me so tired. Good luck folks
  • This is an impressive clip http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18346128 it is abut a 75 year old female weight lifter. i want to look as good as her and be as strong/healthy as her when I am 75
  • Workout 5 of the B section.Pleased to be adding more weight to most of the lifts. Still hate lunges and dumbbell shoulder presses. Thinking I might sneak in a weekend (sunday) workout this week. I always feel like I can do more. Not sure if this is because I enjoy it or because I am genuinely not tired (I suspect more of…
  • I must admit I am glad I bought a cheap second hand set off ebay as I would find it harder to go to the gym and do it. The hardest part of working out at home for me is that I have a real mixed set of weights which makes adding more weight a real challenge, its a bit like doing a maths challenge!! Hubbie said I can have…
  • 5th workout A today. It still amazes me how much I love lifting. I wish you could lift everyday, but everyone says not too. Need to get the same feel good from something else!!
  • Congratulations on the weight loss. You have done amazingly well. What is a bit of loose skin between friends. I too am already suffering and will expect more by the time I finish. However if I look half as good as you I will be proud.
  • First lot of lifting after a week off due to a dodgy back Did workout B (4th out of 8 completed) Deadlift - 43kg + bar (94.6lb+bar) Dumbell shoulder press (I hate this) 10kg dumbells (22lb) Wide grip lat pulldown 35kg (77lb) lunge 10kg dumbells (22lb) Swiss ball crunch 15 reps My stats for A before I hurt my back were…
  • Hello can I join in with the party. I am on my 5th lot of A and B next week. I have had most of this week off as I hurt my back doing bent over pull up thingies or whatever they are called!! I am really enjoying it and am desperate to get back to it. I am amazed that in just two weeks it has made me feel so emotionally…
  • I am fairly confident I started too low, I keep adding 4kg ish each time I do barbell stuff, but still concerned I don't want to overdo it.The dumbell stuff I find much harder esp lunges and have only added a little since started to that, but I figure I am getting better and I will figure out what weight I need by the end…
  • Wow, don't think I could manage to bake and not eat the dough/mixture. I always think it tastes nicer before it is cooked. Strangely I can resist it once it is baked!! Well done.
  • I have loads of nuts to snack on - usually to stop me reaching for the chocolate or biscuits I like the flavoured one esp wasabi I do vary the nuts I believe.... walnuts are quite good for people with high cholestrol cashews great if you are feeling tired as they have a fair bit of iron Pecans (yum) are high in zinc…
