I went gluten free a week ago when I was diagnosed with post partum hashimotos hypothyroidism and was told to avoid gluten and soy. I have not lost an ounce of weight in 12 weeks of dieting and exercising. This past week being gluten free I have lost 3 lbs and my psoriasis is clearing up. I still eat almost 1900 calories a…

I got my BMR tested at my naturopaths office, she has a machine that she hooks you up to and then it spits out a reading. I just googled to find local places that offer this service.
-
MFP told me I need to eat 1200 calories to lose 1.5 lbs per week. I eat 1900 calories a day and I lost 1.5 lbs this week. Go to a site like fat2fitradio or scooby's workshop and figure out your calories that way, then manually change your goals on MFP.

Yup I stopped checking my chest for the same reason. I can go up or down 2 inches.
-
BUT those are based on estimates...have your had your BMR tested? Could be off. Another thought is are you strict with weighing and measuring everything. I know when I start to eyeball things I end up not losing because eyeballing a couple different things ends with me being off by a few hundred cals. Just some ideas...
-
Raynn-is it possible your numbers are wrong? What about dropping 150 cals off to see how that goes?
-
WOW amazing results!

Hashimotos is pretty much the same thing as a hypothyroidism. While the terms are not interchangeable, hypothyroidism is often caused by hashimotos. But regardless, the gluten free thing is recommended for anyone with a thyroid condition or other autoimmune disease. I have psoriasis as well which is an autoimmune condition…

Were you losing weight at 2500? You could try a smaller cut, and just go to 2250.
-
I think I recall you saying you have thyroid issues...I just found out I have hashimotos thyroiditis (hypo) and was told to remove gluten from my diet and that I would see weight loss as soon as I did. Well guess what, I removed gluten 5 days ago and lost a pound already. I lost nothing in the last 12 weeks which 12 weeks…

I started Em2WL at 198ish and have lost 8 lbs. When I started losing weight in general I was 220 and was eating 1200 plus exercise cals, so typically around 1600 calories a day plus 500 breastfeeding calories.
-
I think you should have your thyroid checked out.
-
Personally I would go with moderate. I know I don't burn 500 calories for walking 5 miles and I am 30 yrs old and walk at a good pace.

NIce work!

I am down another .4 for a total of a half pound this past week! That is the largest loss I have had since June so I am pretty happy. It took me 12 weeks to lose 1.5 lbs and then just this week lost the half pound. I hope this is my body finally letting go.
-
You can definitely see a difference, especially through your back/love handles. Great work!
-
Yes it is possible that you are more active than you thought. I am generally using the burn according to my fitbit and some days I burn way more than I thought I would and somedays it is a few hundred less than what scooby says.

Apparently there is a great coconut milk icecream that's good. Going to try that. And stuff my face with it while I cry about being gluten/dairy free.
-
I've already raised my calories, did so in April. I have been eating around 1950 and have only lost a pound since June. This is why I went to get tested because I am maintaining a the level that I should be losing at. I had an initial 7 lbs loss from April to June but then really nothing since. In any case, her numbers…

How are you doing???
-
So regardless of whether it was BMR or RMR (even though their website says it is BMR and the paper that came out said BMR) what are you saying I should do with the information?
-
I was hooked up to some machine and had to rest for 5 minutes while it took readings and then the machine printed out the results. It was my BMR that was tested not RMR. My BMR is right on track with the online calculators. It was my basal cell metabolism that was low, my number was 28 and it should be around 37. As I said…

I am getting the blood work done on Monday for it. The naturopath gave me some supplement to take to start with but because I am nursing she said that was all I should be taking, none of the other ones are safe for nursing.
-
I agree with this! I have seen more changes in my body doing 45 mins of weights 3x per week than when I was doing 4 hour long spin classes per week. You are much better off doing 30-45 mins weights with 15 mins of HIIT at the end.

Thanks for the link!

Nice!!!
-
I would also do moderate.
-
I also think strenuous doesn't fit here. THe thing is, all of these online calculators are estimates. So even though for the most part you go by hours you have to look at the overall picture. I would say you fall into moderate.

That's awesome!
