Sort of depends on how heavy you are now. If it's jumping then it's impact. If it's impact then it can cause injury. Even slight injuries can cause pain that will put you off exercising in the future. So - where does that leave you? I lost a lot, I started to use "barefoot" shoes for running and all sorts of things. This I…

Eggs? Nuts? Fish?

Probably just water and poop. Your body really has to be doming something to gain that much in a weekend. Also -check your scales are correct.

Eggs for a start. Great protein and not expensive. Brush up on your use of garlic and spices etc. Plan your meals and learn to use your freezer. Take advantage of meat deals on the supermarkets. Don't peal veg unless you have to, do wash it thigh. All nutrients are in surface. Plan Learn that things like broccoli stalks…

Cos they come out of a hens bum. Boom tish????

What happens is that you get the step counts from the fitbit and the stats from endomondo (+or any other so really) and they end up getting counted twice.. Which is nice in one sense but not very accurate???? So might be best to link fitbit to endomondo and only endomondo to mfp. This way you only get the counts once. (Or…

Me neither and I haven't even learned the hard way... Tried to run again after 18 months absence, messed up my knee and back. Thankfully that's getting better but it takes time... Baby steps!

And a good afternoon to you and welcome:) I'm originally from Huddersfield (I guess someone has to be:) ) It's a long time ago since I did study but I can appreciate the year out - a wise move:) Exercise is one part of the story - the other is food. So - work on building in a calorie deficit and the weight will naturally…

Hmmm... I thought your BMR is basically a number which is the amount of calories to maintain the status quo i.e. no gain/no loss. If you eat below this than you are creating a deficit. This deficit is filled in by your body utilising it's stored fat. By introducing this deficit - your body uses your fat and you loose…

Wine in cans? Sounds a bit American/Australian to me;) I think though - portion control really is the issue. You'd think at 45 I'd be able to manage it by now wouldn't you:)

I've used a FitBit for a good while - had lots of success with that. Also Endomondo on my Android works well. Appears that iPhone5s has an always on motion sensor (that doesn't drain battery). Endomondo produce a small app called "Life" that reads the sensor and gives you steps taken. This might be a very budget option if…

Frittatas are the way to go if you like solid with a bit of taste. Shameless plug for my own site: http://themellors.org/cooking/?p=341 On there is a sort of intro to frittata and how to mess around with it. Then of course there are "Funky eggs" - Which I've no idea if they are or not but I like to think so:…

Eating less calories is the key, and a balanced diet... What those calories is made of is important and depends on how your body is... For me, I don't do carbs to good so I eat low carb. My BMR is supposed to be around 2100 based on my age, height and weight. I try to aim for around 1500 calories a day, giving a weekly…

Weight goes up and down and it's easy to vary a few pounds every day - it's all fluid and poop. So - as mentioned previously - don't sweat it - it will work out because eating below your BMR works - plain and simple. That said... You don't mention how tall you are or what your BMR is. The reason I say this is that 1350 -…

Rightly or wrongly I sorry of work on 50 calories per 100g and really don't bother worrying about it. Veg as a rule just doesn't have many calories unless you look at starchy stuff but as I'm low carb I don't do potatoes or things like that anyways. Fruit yes, there are sugars in there that are useful to know about. One…
-
I'll be honest... Unless there is a serious amount of carb in there then I don't bother. Maybe a dry rub based on sugar would get some treatment but I'm not that worried. Many marinades are acid based, there maybe some oil in them but typically, for me, not much gets transferred on to the food. Where this would be a little…

Probably a bit late but better than never I guess???? I travel a lot, many hours in different offices and hotels and airports and all that. If you don't have to do business meals every day and I know sometimes they are inevitable then it's a good thing to use Google to find your nearest supermarket. Doesn't matter what…

Get your own scales that you can trust???? Always weigh your self at same time with same amount of clothing on (off). Know that you can east be up a few pounds on a day just with water retention. Paradoxically drinking more water will not result in more water retention. For none UK'ians Boots is a large chain of chemists a…

I went to low-carb and did exercise. And I experienced same thing - not hungry after exercise. Is it normal? I think it depends on the individual but is it something you share with others? Yes - it's not an uncommon thing:) Be happy:) it makes having a calorie deficit much easier:) One thing I will say though is that (in…

And happy to have you here:)

I/'m just letting some Pumpkin Seed bread rise funnily enough. Sounds like you got a busy life - thats good:) also - lots of people on here to chat to - so even better:)

Why not go to the same nutritionist that your friend went to? Using someone else's plan isn't a good idea - they tend to be personalized. Also - your nutritionist will be able to give you a lot of sound medical advice rather than fads and hear-say type of stuff.
-
Planning - it's all in the planning.... This is such a good thing to do - plan the week - get to know what meals fulfil your nutritional requirements and make them ahead of time (where possible). Educate husband in doing some stuff as well - you can't do it all yourself. As suggested - when you have kids meetings - use…

Walking and the occasional run, then biking. Anything and Everything that gets you outside in the fresh air has to be good:)

Depends on what the cause is and how long it's been going on for... If it's a 24 hour bug - suggest to eat nothing, only drink water (and surprisingly a bit of coca-cola). Basically, your body is trying to get rid of something - let it out and don't take anything to keep it in. If it's been going on for longer than 24…

This is good advice... Sounds much more like you need to tone and get your muscles firm. Weight is not the be all and end all - health is (I would think). Strength Building Exercise is a large part of the equation.

Certainly you can see a difference... And you will see even more in the next 10 days and the 10 after that and so on until you are where you want to be. The main thing is - the "where you want to be" thing. This is your goal and this is what you want to get to. Work to that and don't give in to temptation. Eat healthy and…
