And a good afternoon to you and welcome:)
I'm originally from Huddersfield (I guess someone has to be:) )
It's a long time ago since I did study but I can appreciate the year out - a wise move:)
Exercise is one part of the story - the other is food. So - work on building in a calorie deficit and the weight will naturally fall off. Exercise is a bonus on top of this...
As someone said on here recently:
It's easier to each 500 calories less than it is to exercise 500 calories off.
(And I guess if you can do both then you have an extra bonus:) )0 -
Thank you
Yeap 500 calories to burn off is always hard
I use to do crossfit so I can work out hard when pushed
But the last year I have done Zilch and its shown!
So with a nutrition plan and slow ease back in to exercise hopefully I will get there.
I just need to be patient - a virtue I was not blessed with :grumble:0 -
Me neither and I haven't even learned the hard way...
Tried to run again after 18 months absence, messed up my knee and back. Thankfully that's getting better but it takes time...

I'll add you - we're about the same age and it looks like we have about the same amount to lose, though I'm halfway there at this point. I'm in the US, but I also just got my BA and am still hanging around on campus working for a prof and taking a class I never got to take before because of scheduling while looking into graduate programs. Keeping up with your diet and exercise is tough when you're studying, especially if you're working, too!
And yeah, definitely ease back in to the exercise - it'll be easier once you've dropped some weight (less stress on your joints and feet). Even just walking is great - hell, walking is most of what I do for cardio, since I gave some genetic issues with my feet that make flat-out running get painful very quickly. I apparently walk fast enough that my Fitbit thinks I'm jogging and will log some of my walks as "very active" periods. You'd also be surprised by how quickly you get better at your workouts - I'm definitely progressing in terms of strength training much faster than I think I would have if I had never done it before.0
