It could still happen. I think running outside might help. I got to a point a few years ago where I would only be running for a few minutes and I would start to feel it. Mostly it's a variable intermittent high. The most addictive kind:)

I have one rule: Eat at or under TDEE. You can even average it out over the week and you'll lose weight. Of course, rule number 5 will help with this.

You helped me understand. Thank you, it is complicated and different for every person. The only thing I want to say that might be contrary to your OP is that you are young! If you've wasted time it's just a blip in your life. You have many years ahead of you and congrats on getting your degree in the midst if it all!
