I find that having a stash helps. Since I'm doing low carb/high fat, I have things like sugar-free cheesecake (that I made myself), portioned out in my freezer. If I have the macros to spare, and I want a treat, I have a treat! if I only have a few calories, but am craving a treat, I go for ONE piece of high % cocoa…

It's not Winnie the Pooh. That's Alice in Wonderland.

My goal is to lose 50 lbs by my birthday (I started back in January). As of right now I only have 13 lbs left to lose, and 2 months to lose it in (July 20 is my goal date). At this point, I might not make it, but I'll be so close, I'm going to call it a success anyway. There's no chance in hell I'll stop working towards my…

I came to the forums here to investigate the same question. As far as basic functions go a lot of people have purchased the Polar FT4. So, that's what I bought. I got it on Amazon for 84$ including shipping. AND I LOVE IT!!

sadly our society doesn't really have good role models for what healthy weight actually means, or looks like. Plus, people get used to the way you're "supposed" to look, i.e. how you've looked for x period. When that changes, I think it's the unfamiliarity of a slimmer face or physique that startles them into comments…

I can only speak for myself, so obviously any advice you receive here you should take with a grain of salt. I would DEFINITELY be concerned with my sodium and sugar intakes (if I were you). They are way too high. In fact, the sodium and sugar that MFP "allots" should be taken as a MAX daily amount, while the others (fat,…

I broke long before I had the ability to fix myself. My living situation had become so bleak that I contemplated suicide, a lot. And because of those awful feelings, and an inability to change what was causing them, I crammed them down and filled myself with food instead. Once my situation changed I figured I'd be able to…

I actually really like this feature. Because on days I exercise it shows a lower number, on days I don't, it shows a higher number. It helps me keep an idea in my head that works to motivate me. But we all do things differently, I can see why some may see this as a problem.

When I had access to a gym (and was definitely a fatty) I used to do: 10 minute brisk walk warm up on treadmill 10 minutes (or 100 calorie burn) on the rowing machine 10 minutes on stair machine 10 minutes on elliptical (god I hated that thing) 20 minutes on stationary bike (I do love cycling) then I'd head up to the track…

Mine was a white 1996 Honda Accord EX-R, I named her Sachiko - "Child of Good Fortune". ****in' beauty! By the time I ran her into the ground (not my fault!! bad repair job after hitting a deer!), she was 11 years old and had half a million kms on her! I love my new car (2007 Honda Fit Sport, named Akane - "Brilliant Red")…

I have been doing this since I was a self conscious teen and I have to warn you that if you are not doing core exercises to strengthen the OTHER muscles THIS WILL MESS YOUR BACK UP. I have suffered from back pain for years, and didn't realize that flexing that muscle has caused the others to weaken from misuse. Sure it…

yesterday I burned 1300 calories mountain biking. I wasn't even out for 2 hours. The harder you ride (trail, road, or mountain) the better your burn will be. But I know myself, I get lazy on paths, I like the built in difficulty of a good single track. But yeah, get fitted by a professional. I've known too many people who…

Such inspiration! You look wonderful! And also happy birthday!

Thanks everyone!

conggratulations!! 20 lbs is a big milestone, be proud!!! I started off taking pictures, then I started taking measurements too. I also found that the smaller pant size made me look bulkier, but I think its a trick of the eye. The only way you can be sure is by photos or measurements! Good luck in the rest of your journey!!

Exactly! I'm no where near done, but I'm finally at a point where I'm not looking in the mirror going, "ewww'. I'm looking in the mirror going, "you're really something, and you'll continue to be something if you stay on this path". Best motivation, self motivation!!

One thing people don't realize when doing low carb is that there is a several pound "bloat" that you will lose when first introducing the diet. If you eat carbs, you will gain that "bloat" back in a day or two of bingeing on carbs. Then when you cut carbs out again, you'll lose the bloat again. You could gain and lose the…

I am ALLL OVER nice, meaty, thick legs. Nothing says "well built" like big calves, and big thighs. YUM!!!
-
That's awesome!! And totally doable! Keep up the hard work and find new ways to motivate yourself and you'll totally succeed! July 20th is my goal date, I'm hoping to lose 18 by then, but I'm starting to prepare myself for not quite making it. But I'm going to bust my *kitten* to get as far as I can by then!!

Wow... not one reply. Amazing.

Wonderful!! It must feel so good!! :)

Personally I found even switching from track to road took a huge toll on my legs, impact wise. If your body isn't used to the impact (which, there's next to none on elliptical), it can wreak havoc on your ability.
-
Amazing! You've done such a wonderful job so far! Keep it up!
-
Wonderful!! And I have to say, you have PERFECT lips!! :)

I'm truly impressed and inspired!! You should be very proud of yourself! I'm proud of you!!!!

I only get to see my spouse from Friday evening to Sunday night because of our living situation.... so yeah, weekends tend to be a bit of a celebration. The way I combat this: I get my exercise in before he wakes up in the morning, and I eat low calorie, very satisfying foods whenever we eat at home (this means I don't…

I'm really bummed. I started taking measurements as I started the 30DS, but they're WRONG!! my clothes have gotten bigger and the scale is moving downwards, but my measurements don't make any sense! some are bigger, some got smaller but then bigger again, there's no rhyme or reason to it all, and I feel like I've let…
