Agree! Almost every new thing comes with a good sales pitch claims that it's based on scientific research and studies. I could write an article and claim it's backed by scientific research as well... that doesn't mean it is. For that matter... I could start selling shakes and call myself a nutritional coach

Different things work for different people. I have tried both... eating first and fasting first. I find that when I eat first I feel lethargic and have no energy or strength. When I fast I am super strong and have tons of energy. For me it also depends upon the type of workout. If I am having a Muay Thai stripe test I make…

Whey won't help you gain, more calories will... it doesn't matter if that's extra calories with whey or not. However, if you do want to use whey, I use one called Eat the Bear Whey Isolate. I like the chocolate peanut butter flavor. It blends real nice, is very clean and has 23g protein per scoop

Lift weights. The end.

It's only five days... enjoy yourself within reason. When I go on vacation I usually eat light and healthy for breakfast, lunch, snack... and then I indulge a bit for dinner. I'll still order something I normally wouldn't eat but I do go for substitutions like I skip the starch and ask for double the veg instead... stuff…

Don't talk about it but be a good example. She's watching you and maybe she doesn't appear to care or notice now, but she does.

About 5 years ago a bunch of people were on my back about over-exercising and under-eating. Many people took issue disguised as concern... told me I would crash and burn, I'd get sick, I'd have organ failure, I'd ruin my metabolism, etc. I kept telling them to "trust my process"... some did and some didn't... well, it's 5…

omg.... Indian Food is what made me SNAP and started me on my fitness journey over 5 years ago. I was eating Indian food at work and was pleased with myself thinking about how healthy it was. A co-worker walked by with her Indian food and mentioned that she loved it too... but that she wished it wasn't so bad/fattening...…

What about group x at your gym? Most gyms have pretty good sculpting classes.. not much movement in terms of the feet/ankles but usually good overall body workout with light weights? Can you spin? or is that too much pressure on your foot? I would always recommend starting a good weight lifting routine... there are a ton…

Nope. Not unless you have stomach issues when you eat and lay down. I eat before bed every night on purpose... helps me to get a good sleep  Take a look at what animals do, if you have a dog or a cat... they woof down their food and then take a nice long nap. When they wake up they're all energized, etc. We should…

Yes... I use visualization. Not for when I lost all of my weight but now for lifting weights. For example... if I'm doing lat pull downs I visualize my lat muscles engaging and my shoulder blades squeezing together to pull the weight down, before I actually pull. I visualize my hands as just hook around the bar and my arms…

I don't call it a "cheat" anything because you're only cheating on yourself. I call it a "treat" and not a whole day, but a treat meal. Like Friday night date night with the hubby.. I am in competition prep right now so I am supposed to have a treat meal once per week. There is bro-science behind it but re-sets my…

This ^ all day long

This was happening to me as well. Despite all of the trickery I would try to play on myself... and food prep and pre-logging and budgeting for occasions and using sheer will power, I'd always cave at least one weekend day or night. I finally just got it in my head that Saturday and Sunday are just like any other day of the…

Yes, weigh and log everything and make sure the items you're selecting in the data base have the nutritional information covered. Some of the items just have the calories but nothing else. Try to stay away from "generic" items. You'd be surprised how a dozen or so calories that are unaccounted for daily add up! Personally…

I use a combo of containers and mason jars for my food prep. I just make batches of whatever I am prepping for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks for the week and portion out accordingly the night before, each day. It's easy enough and keeps me on track while giving the hubs good options for his meals as well.
-
Yeah... I find it really interesting too! I feel like no matter how or where they start out, all of them ultimately end in CICO! I don't like the ones that send you all of your meals... perfectly portioned and all that and claim that you can lose like 20 LBs in two weeks! I don't know if those are even on the list. I mean…

omg... I didn't even think about that one! I think I may have tried that one before

Grease - Jeff Conaway who played Kenickie and who will be starring in an upcoming movie called Inferno, by Dante.

Get on a good lifting program and dial down the cardio a bit.

You're expecting to see results in a week... you're expecting too much too soon. Calculate your calorie target, start logging your foods, stop beating yourself up. Stop whining and start doing. And who gives a *kitten* what anyone else thinks. This is about you and your journey, not them. Things are only as difficult as we…

Mmmmmm carbs.... :p Carbs are good for the soul... and for muscle gains, and for endurance, and for MMA/Muay Thai. Eat all the carbs (protein and fat), just at a lower calorie target!

I log it in as "weight training" with the exact time that I begin. As long as you have the time in there it shouldn't double count.

I am using a whey protein right now because of competition but usually I use all/any of the Vega products. I also like Plant Fusion but it's a little hard to find in a store.

My comp coach gave me a really great shoulder/back superset routine if you'd like it I'll share...

I love Eat the Bear peanut butter & chocolate whey. Delicious!

I am doing a quick/clean bulk and my protein is at around 160 or so, that's more than I need but I also have a hard time hitting my carb/fat numbers. It won't hurt you but maybe try for a better balance if you can. Or, if that number is working for you, stick with it.

I lift in the morning but I can't eat first. I've tried both ways and when I've eaten first, even if the timing is right, I just feel lethargic with no strength or energy. If I go in fasted I am super-hyper focused with a ton of energy. Same with cardio... but everyone is different. A Muay Thai friend of mine shows up for…
