Community, hands down.

The ONLY thing I've changed about my eating habits is portion size. And exercising on occasion. (Less than I should be at the moment, but I'll get back into it.)

I like the bookstore idea! Movies aren't good first dates, IMO. And there are some movies that work well for dates...but NOT NOT NOT Passion of the Christ! DH and I went to see it I think on our 2nd date. We came out of the theater a bit weirded out by how intense it was, given how well we DIDN'T know eachother yet...

Sounds like some serious body image problems going on - how sad for her. Eating disorders definitely affect more than the person going through them - friends and loved ones wind up watching and shaking their heads as the person piles on the self-loathing and self-destructive behaviors...and until they want help, there's…

When my MIL gives me a recipe, I don't take it as she's trying to keep me in the kitchen. She's sharing things with me that she used to make for my DH when he was a kid and that I might like to have for my/our collection of recipes. She knows we're both equally capable in the kitchen (or INcapable, as the case may be!) DH…

Lemon & Garlic chicken. Can't wait to get home!

You can definitely be gracious about it - when people compliment you, smile and say "Thanks." If they ask how you're doing it, mention what you're doing - but keep it brief and then move on. Maybe redirect the conversation to include your girlfriend on a topic that doesn't include weightloss/fitness. If your friend…

DH and I went to a party when we were still dating. The hosts had a rather impressive selection of liquor, which I sampled extensively. The ride home, over hills and around curves and back roads, was...eventful. Every 50 -100 yards eventful. Pretty much the whole way home. The car is fine, by the way. And we're still…

Elvis Presley - (Can't Help) Falling In Love with you. It's the only one I can get him to slow-dance with me to. He sings it in my ear and I "sing" some of the guitar parts - it always cracks him up. My father-daughter dance was Unforgettable w/ Nat and Natalie King Cole. Somehow it's always played at weddings, and…

Not to mention what it does to my commute to work! There was a BIG accident just before my entrance onto the freeway this morning. If it was after my entrance I'd probably still be sitting there!

This is awesome! I will DEFINITELY have to try this. Not that I, you know, overindulge ever. Much.

I started reading labels to figure out what a portion size is. A bowl of cereal is often TWO portions - who knew? And what a lot of people have said about slowing down, enjoying your food, etc. Plus - make sure you eat really *yummy* food. I bet for some people that's a factor too - we get stuck in ruts of "Oh,…

ETA: I really wanted to incorporate my dog's paw print in the tattoo, but trying to get a big doofus dog to hold still, put his paw on an ink pad, NOT set it down anywhere but on the paper, and tolerate me washing said paw with soap and water, prooved to be kind of an ordeal.

double post, sorry...

It's only been a week and you've already lost 1/2 pound! That's right on track! This is something to work on for the rest of your life. No, it won't take that long to lose the weight, but this whole healthy eating and exercising thing should be something that you can do forever. It shouldn't be painful, depriving, or a…

Roughly 20 nuts is a serving (28 per the label on the can actually) , for about 170 calories. I've learned to eat them slowly and enjoy each one (and yes I do count out 20 at a time!). Also, as soon as i've got my portion, I put the can away.

I've been a lot of places alone but not a bar yet (unless I got there first while waiting for people.) The place I usually go in my hometown, though? Yeah, I'd go alone if he was gone. They know my husband and I really well, so I'd be taken care of. Good on you, OP, for going! For those considering it - DO. Maybe even…

Oh- and our foster dog, Lou, would steal my laundry out of the bucket. He'd manage to leave it perfectly folded, but would bring it over to his bed and lie down on it. If you got it away from him immediately, he was fine. He had this whole 3-second rule established, though - any delay and it was HIS, and he got a bit…

My dog Earl lies to us. All the time. He sleeps on the bed with us, and will get up in the middle of the night and whine, like he has to go outside. Of course, we don't want him to have an accident inside, so we get out of bed to let him out. As soon as we get up, he jumps back on the bed in the spot that was just vacated.…

Welcome! I'm in New Glarus. (I lived in Madison for 10 years and never HEARD of NG until I met my DH...) I've done Weight Watchers too - MFP is (for me) a lot easier. Best of luck to you!

Graduated in 1991 at 165. I'm now 142. I've hit my goal weight of 140, but...well...you know, Christmas...

I'm at 140 now and in a comfortable size 12. I can wear size 10 jeans (US sizes) but since I've never been fond of tighter clothing, I'm not QUITE comfortable in them. (They're not tight to the point where they cut off my circulation or anything, they're just not baggy.) I don't care about the number on the scale anymore…

Let your knee heal! You don't want to keep injuring it - that makes for unhappy knees over the long term.

I dreamed once that I was swimming in a high school pool (not even my high school!) with a big whale. My best friend, her mother, and her mom's mother came along, took the whale out of the pool, DEFLATED it (it was a real whale!), put it in a suitcase, and left.

I think most of the people on my friends list have done the requesting. Hm. That said, they're a great group! It's awesome to come online and see a bunch of messages complimenting me on a loss, or something I've posted. I think I did friend one or two from Scotland, because there is nothing hotter than a Scottish accent.…

Healthy: chicken breasts. Other (because as delicious as they are, there's not a whole lot redeeming about them. Maybe the protein content?): Apple brats from DH's meat market. SO SO SO FREAKING yummy. No condiments needed.

I'd document, too, when you asked him to leave you alone and what you said. Couldn't hurt.

Just plain ol' cover girl for me. I love Mary Kay but it's a bit too expensive for me.

*Hugs* sweetie! Look at it this way: You're working hard at losing weight because you care about yourself, right? (Just nod and keep reading. ) So you're obviously worth the bother of eating right, exercising, and doing all the hard work that's involved in being healthy, right? (Nod again.) ' Does that sound like…

When you're getting ready to go on a motorcycle ride - just sitting on your bike while your husband does last minute things inside the house. It would be a great idea, you think, to surprise DH by sitting on HIS bike like you're going to take off on it (because he has a Softail and you have a Sportster.) Gleefully you hop…
