My greyhound's name is Earl. We also considered Dorian. If he'd been a girl he would have been Jane, or Lady Jane.

I lived in Madison for several years (over by Tenney Park.) I live about 30 min southwest now, but still work here.

Shock Top Belgian White. (NOT a fan of the lemon / shandy beers but I could drink Belgian Whites until they run out of it...) New Glarus (WI microbrewery) has some dang yummy beers. My go-to in summer is Totally Naked - light, crisp, etc. In winter it's Cabin Fever, a honey bock. Leine's Nut Brown is AMAZING on tap. Not as…

I think all motorcycles are now built so that the headlight comes on automatically - there's no way to shut it off. (You still have to turn on your brights manually.) For me, as a biker, I *do* look around and pause a little bit when I hear loud pipes. Maybe just because I immediately identify what they are so am on the…

Good thinking! Another tip: If you are riding a motorcycle (and I ride one so this goes for me too), USE YOUR TURN SIGNALS AT A 4-WAY STOP. If you don't, we might both try turning into the same lane...and that would suck for you, because I drive a car to work more often than not. I didn't hit the guy. We both stopped and…

BUMP ...and you, OP, are so over-the-top awesome for this.

Can I offer a suggestion or two? Don't set a goal of "I must be X weight by X time." Because...well...what if other things happen and you don't meet that goal? Maybe instead: "I will work to lose a pound a week". (That's easy to set up - MFP does it for you.) "I will watch my caloric intake." "I will exercise more." "I…

BALLOONS and anything that makes a sharp popping noise (firecrackers/fireworks, guns, etc.) INSTANT anxiety issues - sweaty palms, heart pounding, brain going "OMG get me out of here!!"

I think you look great! I hate "fat" days - wish I had a foolproof way to combat them. (Having one myself today, actually... :grumble: )

I am getting better at blocking the "Wow, you really must have thought I was HUGE" thinking and taking those comments as compliments. It takes practice, but I really don't think anyone who has said to me, "Wow, you've lost a LOT of weight!" had any ulterior motives or meant to lace the comment with anything insulting. Yeah…

Do you have an Aldis in your neighborhood? They're really reasonably priced and have MOST everything that other grocery stores do.

Interesting! Thanks so much for your response.

Well, that was really my question - if it TASTED like meat but WASN'T Meat, contained no animal products whatsoever...does taste enter into it at all?
-
One question I have for vegetarians/vegans: Do you eat meat *flavored* stuff? If you found something that was absolutely vegan but tasted like a really yummy steak (assuming taste is NOT why you chose veganism/vegetarianism), would you be okay with that? Odd question, but inquiring minds and all that...

black & white HOLY BICEP...

I undersand the uber-sensitivity to ANY kind of food-oriented comment, having recovered from an ED. And really...making comments on someone's purchases (other than what some people have suggested - "That looks good" or "I've never had this before" is a bit iffy and an extra dose of sensitivity on the part of the speaker…

DH will look at me with a big goofy grin on his face and reach over and touch my cheek softly and say "My angel." Usually I hate sappy stuff but that makes me melt every FREAKIN' time.

I love meat and honestly haven't ever given much thought to the whole free range/animal cruelty side of it. For me personally: They're animals and they taste good. Do I respect vegetarians/vegans? Absolutely. I've had vegetarian/vegan cooking and it can be really tasty. I have friends who choose to be vegans for a number…

A FREAKIN' MEN!! I couldn't even read it all at once (normally I pretty much devour books.) I felt so stifled while I was reading it I had to take a break!

Loved the concept (though visions of the Simpsons movie kept interfering!) but hated the ending - good idea but poor execution, IMHO. I REALLY want to read 11/22/63. Fave King books: IT Bag of Bones The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon The Long Walk (as Bachman) Duma Key I like the first 4 Jean Auel books but I think they kind of…

for potatoes: (recipe calls for sweet potatoes but I'd imagine regular ones would work too...okay, not a typical veggie but still yummy) http://allrecipes.com/recipe/sweet-and-spicy-sweet-potatoes/detail.aspx Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry (had this last night and OMG yum:…

It depends on who is gettnig my name wrong. If it's someone I'm going to have repeated face to face contact with, sure I'll correct them (though hopefully in a way that doesn't make them feel bad for getting it wrong!). I talk to people all day on the phone, though, and they're sort of "incidental contacts" - so I'm not…

I always use the circuit training function. I've heard some people say that MFP's numbers will reflect a higher calorie burn than if you use a heart rate monitor, so that's something to consider...that said, when I log my calories religiously and use MFP's numbers to log my exercise, it seems to work for me.

Last night we had what was called an Indian Chicken Wrap (from Food Network Magazine). The chicken had cumin, onion, jalapeno and ginger (and shredded carrot), and the sauce was plain yogurt w/ lime juice and fresh cilantro. The sauce by itself wasn't spectacular but SO yummy on the chicken. We had it on naan bread. Right…

I made the WEIRDEST recipe yesterday - I wasn't sure it was going to turn out at all, but it was pretty yummy. Here's the link to the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/maple-rum-glazed-chicken/detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=rum%20chicken&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=%2fmy%2frecipebox%2fdefault.aspx I love…

Panera spinach artichoke souffle and a cup of fruit salad. Calorie heavy but oh my goodness, how freakin' yummy!

I LOVE this response. Well done!

I have recovered from Anorexia and Bulimia. It is a scary, scary thing to work as hard as you need to work on recovering...but let me tell you: IT IS WORTH IT. *YOU* are worth it. I am healthy and happy today, loving the life I lead free of eating disorders. I'm very, very glad you are seeing a counselor for this. The…

New Glarus, here. I work in Madison, though, and would LOVE to live Up North someday - like Boulder Junction. :)

I really REALLY wish I knew who I saw post this originally, but: GUILT DOES NOT BURN CALORIES. Really. Food is not the enemy. True, there are foods that are better for you than others, but once you've eaten something, the deed is done. What possible good does it do to beat yourself up if you chose chocolate cake over high…
