Ouch!
So I use the elliptical every day and get a really good workout from it - I'd guess I average a calorie burn of 250 for 15 minutes. The problem is I'm killing my left foot. I have an odd gait due to a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy - my left foot turns in a bit when I walk, and I must be doing something funky on the…

New (to me) snack!
Blue Diamond brand Bold Lime & Chili almonds. Yum. That is all.

Tattoo question
I've looked through past posts on this and haven't seen anything, so here goes: Do y'all tip your tattoo artists? I'm planning my first tattoo and would really, REALLY hate to commit any breach in etiquette...

Which is better...
What are your thoughts? When it comes to toning: Multiple reps with heavier weights and not-quite-perfect form (like not able to lift the weights up to eye-level, but close, every time) or lighter weights and better form every time? In the long run, am I going to get better results with one or the other? Should I stick…

Clothing NSVs
So I pulled out my winter jacket a couple of days ago (because I'm a cold wimp!) and it's HUGE on me. The last time I wore it, I zipped it up, but I had to UNZIP the bottom/side zipper when I sat down to give my butt more room. When I put the jacket on this time, I put it on OVER my denim jacket. I reached down to close…

My weirdest NSV
My motorcycle helmet is now a bit on the big side! DH and I went for a cycle ride this weekend (mostly Saturday but a bit on Sunday before we got rained on) and it kept sliding down my face. I think I can buy foam padding somewhere to make it fit right again...

Coffee Heaven...I have found it!
So every day I stop at the gas station for a 16 oz coffee. Sometimes it's all hazelnut, sometimes it's half hazelnut, half decalf. I always add 1 vanilla creamer and 2 splendas. Not bad, calorie-wise, and very tasty. This morning was an all-hazelnut day - needed the caffeine boost. I noticed that in addition to the…

Which is more beneficial...
This might be one of those "why even bother things" but I thought I'd throw it out there... While my lunch is microwaving (usually only for about 2 min or so) I like to do *something* active. Today I ran up and down the stairs 7 times. Sometimes I'll do squats or lunges, or butt kicks. Is this even worth it? It's only for…

Fiber One Bars - Strawberry
These? Are so FREAKIN' nummy. I bought a box yesterday. They taste like they have strawberry jam in them. They're filling - even more so than other flavors because I stop to savor how good they are. If you haven't tried them yet - do. Seriously. The mocha ones are awesome too.

GOAL WEIGHT MET! WOOT!
Wow. I did it! That last freakin' pound is GONE. It may come back because I think it came off because of the flu, but for now Mr. Scale and I are celebrating. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all my MFP friends - your support, advice, encouragement, etc has truly made all the difference. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: On…

Rest Days and Mental Blocks
...and a little babbling thrown in for good measure. I get the concept of rest days. I've even *done* it on days when I've been on vacation and didn't have my weights/DVDs with me, and Mr. Scale has been kind. But the thought of taking a rest day from working out at home, when I'm RIGHT THERE...just feels so wrong. It's…

SV *and* NSV!
So over the weekend I lost something like 4 pounds. This is a dubious victory because I was under my calorie goal all weekend and had (have) a sinus infection, which meant I felt like cr*p (still kinda do) and didn't work out for 3 days. I'm going to get back at it tonight - or try to anyway. Still...I'll take the loss and…

Happy Friday!! :)
As of this morning, I am OFFICIALLY 25 pounds down. Woot! I've been dancing around that number for what feels like forever, and I finally got there today. No, it's not all about the numbers. I feel good, and if I may say so, I *look* good. But it's a pretty cool milestone. Onward - 6 more pounds to goal weight!…

Think of a food...
That can NOT be improved with the addition of either Garlic or Chocolate. This is not as easy as it seems on the surface. Of course, you have to like a wide variety of foods - and you have to like garlic and chocolate as well. :D Back in my days of barista-ing (heh - new word!) at the cafe in Barnes & Noble, we'd discuss…

My dog helps me work out!
Well...sort of. He's a greyhound, and he's incredibly buff, even though he hasn't officially raced in (I think) 3 years now. My goal is to be as ripped as he is, or close to it. I started the 30DS 10 days ago. I work out every night after work. My routine is to come home, greet DH, greet Earl (the dog), change my…

Sort of a scary NSV...
...but I'm gonna do it anyway! I'm going to GET RID OF my jeans that are too big. I have about 6 pairs now of size 16 jeans that are now HUGE on me...and off to Goodwill they go! In the past I would hang on to my "fat clothes" in case I gained the weight back, and you know what? I always did! Maybe this is a way of moving…

Kind of an odd NSV
I'll take it, though! I'm a singer - not by profession, I don't think I'm at a professional level, but I love it and I know I can carry a tune. (I was a music ed major w/ a vocal music emphasis. ANYWAY...) For the past few months my upper range has been wonky. Everything felt strained, I couldn't hit the high notes, and…

NSV - a bit naughty...
:blushing: :blushing: Last night I realized I fit into an article of clothing I wore on my honeymoon. :blushing: That's ALL I'm saying.

NSV: Skinny Jeans!
No pics (I still don't like the camera) but I wore my skinny jeans to work! The scale still has me flirting w/ the 20 pound mark (seriously, I must be the only one on the planet who GAINS weight in her sleep...:noway: ) But anyway - SKINNY JEANS! I've had these folded up in my closet for probably 4 years now. The last time…

Lots of little victories
Happy Dance, Happy Dance! #1 - I am now one pound BELOW my driver's licence weight. I haven't been there in 3 years! #2 - I lost weight while ON VACATION. Didn't stay within my calories, but didn't go over by a huge amount, didn't exercise. Guess my metabolism needed the boost? #3 - I pulled on a pair of bib overalls…

Sort of a win...
Yesterday and today I've been stressed to the hilt. Sadly, it's something I can't do ANYTHING about, it's just a really lousy, sad situation that I want to be able to FIX RIGHT NOW and I just can't. :brokenheart: This morning, I was in the grocery store picking up yogurt for my dog [if you're a greyhound owner, you…

Everything's comin' up Milhouse!
(hoping someone gets the reference... ) So as of this morning I am 1/2 pound away from my driver's license weight. I think shaking things up helped! I had a day last week where I *gasp* didn't work out and I KNOW I was way over my allotted calories. Plus, last week was the week I started drinking water instead of…

Exercise Victory!
I am still not addicted to exercise the way I am to chocolate, but last night after talking myself into rowing/using the elliptical (there's gotta be a verb for that...ellipticalling doesn't flow right...), I was feeling REALLY good and still pretty pumped up for a) working out instead of crashing like I wanted to, and b)…

Lesson Learned!
So this morning I weighed myself and grumbled about it. An increase is definitely not a good way to start my day. But then I remembered reading posts here (can I just say I love you guys!) about how the scale isn't always the best measure of progress; that it's inches lost, how clothes fit, etc. SO I pulled on my skinnier…

I *hate* water...
I mean - seriously. I never drink it as a first choice, second choice, etc. Lately I've been on a Diet Mountain Dew kick (and yes, I am fully aware that it's not good for me. Caffeine, chemicals, etc..) and the thought of drinking any water, let alone 8 glasses a day - *shudder.* But hey - I'm willing to try it. I've lost…

Woot!
So I was getting ready for work this morning and sorta kicking myself for not doing laundry last night - I had no clean jeans to wear. Just for kicks I pulled out a pair that have been folded in my closet for a while (like 3 years), and just for kicks I tried them on. They're a size smaller than the ones I've been wearing.…

another newbie
Wow, every day I see people introducing themselves! Here goes... I joined in March after seeing my husband successfully lose weight with MFP. I was hesitant at first to get into keeping track of calories and stuff because I do have a history of an eating disorder (I'm recovered now, but my weight has been as low as 103 and…
