  • I don't drink it much anymore but I have it with my cereal every day. Skim, though - I was raised on that and everything else just doesn't taste good to me.
  • Wang Chung WHAM! (I know I'm gonna get blasted for that one, but seriously!) Rock Steady (not sure who it's by but it always played at our school dances...) MC Hammer - Hammer Time
  • I'd also check with the person who did the tattoo, for their recommendations... (says the one with no tattoos YET but had a dream about getting one last night! )
  • I don't wear anything to weigh myself. I also don't let anyone else weigh me - if the doctor wants to know how much I weigh, she can ask me and she's going to go by MY numbers. I've been tracking my weight since March on my own scale. I know that my weight fluctuates throughout the day, but it's still a wee bit traumatic…
  • GREAT response. :)
  • Do whichever you're going to stick with - try a video first and then try the class and see which is most sustainable.
  • I like them in that they're controlled portions - so if I go out to a restaurant for pasta or something, I have a fairly good idea of what 1 serving looks like (at least to the Lean Cuisine folks.) Some of them are actually pretty yummy, IMHO.
  • Mostly Plum Pudding...which i still have leftovers from. It's a traditional Christmas dessert that contains NO plums and the sauce is made with egg whites and sugar...and it's FABULOUS. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM... Oh - and prime rib on Christmas Eve *and* Christmas Day. Gotta love splitting up the day between 2 families! And…
  • 15 minutes in the grand scheme of ANYTHING (with the exception of pain!) really isn't long. I'm talking in VERY GENERAL TERMS, not in terms of how long you (OP) worked out. Because Lord knows 15 minutes of a killer workout can feel like an hour. I've had my DH say the same thing to me. In no way does he mean that I wasn't…
  • I'm concerned that you're feeling *guilty* over slowing down this process a little and tweaking the numbers. Where does this come from? (You don't have to answer here - just maybe something to think about.) It's okay to take time to do this. Do what you need to do to make this process work for you long term. Be good to…

  • I'm not worried about the expense part of it - this is a big deal, I want a gorgeous tattoo, and I want to not offend the guy doing it so maybe he'll do another gorgeous tattoo sometime in the future. :) I just want to be appropriate.
  • It's always good to read the labels of what you're eating. I eat a lot of pre-packaged meals and I can't always go by what's in the database. (They're usually only off by 10 cals or so, which isn't huge, but I want to be accurate.)

  • Movies that I love that no one else seems to: Grease 2 Girls Just Want to Have Fun
  • Me me me me me!!! Especially the second. DH absolutely loves Eternal Sunshine.
  • Yeah, I pretty much thought it was along the same lines - but as I said, I'm a complete rookie when it comes to tats. It's just something I've wanted for a really long time.
  • Thanks for all the replies, folks! This is kind of what I was thinking but I tend to always scope out new situations as much as I can beforehand, so - good to know! I emailed the guy whose tattoo gallery I really like a pic of what I've worked out. It's not set completely in stone and will be guided by him on most of it,…
  • I agree with dad106...find something you can sustain over a long period of time. I've been slacking off for a multitude of reasons, but when I'm on track I work out about 4 nights a week (average) for 30 minutes, usually a workout DVD with hand weights. It works for me and I don't feel like it's a HUGE burden to commit to…
  • My Tuesday just got a whole lot better reading this. Well done!
  • I couldn't sustain that for the rest of my life, and that's what I'm doing this for. Also, how do you feel if/when you miss a work out? Do you panic or is it okay?
  • So I've lost 30 pounds and my rings still fit. I either had small fingers to start with, or my fingers are still fat, or I have huge knuckles...I think my wedding band/diamond are both 6 1/2 or 7. I'm not sorry they still fit because I'd hate to lose them, but it's just weird. I was cold all the time before I put all the…
  • Oddly enough I find I'm a lot more forgiving of myself than I've ever been. I'm more gentle with myself in that I don't beat myself up for having made a "bad" choice or having an "off" day. I don't feel guilty about unhealthy foods, and I really think the result has been that I haven't (mentally and emotionally) needed…
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT I"M NOT CONDONING BINGING. And the above suggestion may be worth looking into. But: When I was bulimic, I had specific foods I would binge on. I made specific trips to the store for those foods. It was part of the "ritual" that is binging. Dunno if popcorn would have cut it. I appreciate the thought and…
  • Yup, yup, yup, I get it. (I have a blog post here about bingeing if you want to read it...) I think getting yourself down to ONE day instead of EVERY day is huge and you are to be commended for it.. And maybe that one day will someday lessen in frequency as well to one day every other week/month/whatever. Focus on the good…
  • The "Jmruef has logged in for X days in a row" thing. LOVE seeing the numbers increase and that keeps me going. Seriously.
  • Traditional: O Little Town of Bethlehem Other: Christmas with the Devil (blanking on the band but it's freakin' awesome... ) Mr. Grinch (the original)
  • "There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so" - Wm Shakespeare (from somewhere in Hamlet) "When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of truth and love has always won. There have been murderers and tyrants, and for a time they can seem invincible. But in the end they always fall. Think of it,…
  • I know there have been studies done that show that people lose *more* weight in X amount of time when they log what they eat. When I did Weight Watchers many years ago, though, they were about healthy portions rather than specific numbers. and I lost weight that way too. If you're obsessing about it, then a) good for you…
  • For the most part. I started out at 1200 calories and lost like crazy, but did stall after a while. I bumped them up to (I think) 1460, which is what I'm at now. Plus, I eat back every single exercise calorie.
  • 1) Facing the thought of having to buy a bigger pants size AGAIN. 2) FINALLY owning up to the fact that a past history of an eating disorder is NOT A free pass to eat whatever I wanted now, however much I wanted now, and not take care of myself now. I have to be careful to not go overboard into Obsessive Mode about…
