I have the flu (cold, not stomach...thankfully), TOM is here and my leg is being a big ol' ***** this week. Had major problems with my leg after Sunday's run. Went to PT Monday and my bone was sticking out (noticeably so) at my SI Joint, so that threw off my pelvis (which is over-rotated normally), and it went all the way…

I used to eat them a lot (I'm not a vegetarian, just a picky-meat eater) but they are full of preservatives. The sodium isn't extraordinary high, but higher than if you made something simple at home. Lean protein is the best bang for your money and your health, if you're in a rush, it really won't take any more time to…

If you feel good, I say go for it! I see people run in just compression shorts often, I'm more of a running skort kind of girl myself though!
-
Well, that sort of depends - what's the distance of your scheduled long run on Saturday (what would you be doing if you weren't running the 30K)?
-
That's what I think too. It cuts into their profit margin...quite a bit. Maybe if they didn't charge an arm and a leg for their products it would be different?

I got mine off eBay, and they're 100% legitimiate. eBay actually cancelled my sale because they were reported as potentially fradulent, but the seller had already sent them. Love TF, don't have room for it now in my current workout regime, but it's fabulous!

I would recommend Yankz (shoelaces). I have a lot of trouble with my right knee and ankle and was having trouble with the pressure of tying my laces on the top of my right ankle. Since I got the Yankz it's been way better. I also have tendonitis (posterior tibial) among many other problems on the same side and although…

Sorry guys, I've been busy running, furniture shopping, working out, working and going to Physical Therapy. Yesterday I went out with my only acquaintance here and we had a nice 3 hour coffee date and talked about stuff. I'm looking at going back to school (while keeping my job) so that's also been consuming my time. Broke…

No strap = little accuracy. You're better off saving your money and just using MFP's estimates.

You have to make time. No one has time - don't make excuses. I'm sure you can find 20 minutes 1-2x a day.
-
I think it's not worth the money. My 405CX does intervals just fine - you can set them by speed or distance and you can program rest intervals in as well - chose how many repeats you want and the like. I can see the touch screen being a problem. It's probably too early to really get a good review on the 610 though. I would…

I haven't weighed myself in 6 weeks. I'm in quasi-maintenance and more focused on fitness and marathon training than anything else right now. I feel and look good, am pleased with my training and I have very little interest in what the scale has to say to me at this point. I did it once a week before...occasionally twice a…

+1 on that. I wear Asics and Brooks and switch back and forth. Running clinic I suppose. I never have had the issue of not knowing how to run, but your local running store probably has clinics - mine has form clinics, drill clinics and group runs...so maybe try and get in on something like that. I

Well that may be true but the OP has no idea if she has any deficiencies. Looks like a "quick fix" solution is what is being sought here. Of course, people have deficiencies...didn't think I needed to caveat my response with that. Most people take a multi-vit because other people tell them to do so...it's a waste of money.…

I take no multi-vitamins. A balanced diet is all the multi-vitamin you do.

What Megan said is what I would advise as well. Just because you go to the store and get fitted, however, doesn't mean you need to get the shoes there. I often haven't just due to price (a lot of the shoes can be found for much cheaper at places like Runner's Warehouse) but you're not going to know until you're there. I…

Buying brand name shoes means nothing. Absolutely nothing in the world of running. Your Nikes are no better suited for running than the $20 Champion shoes you get at Payless if they're not a good fit for your gait, arch type, etc.. Go to a running store and get a gait analysis. Ice massage + stretching (calf stretches are…

Been having some incredible pain the last 12 hours or so. I've never had nerve damage but it's bad enough that it's making me anxious and my leg is convulsing. Not good. PT today, so hopefully he can do something?! Yesterday's run was a bust. First 2 miles were painful and slow (10.03 and 10.53) and my knee locked up to…

Allie - Sorry about the 5K race...those races definitely happen. I can offer you one piece of advice: start out slow. So many people (myself included at times) burn themselves out by running too fast that initial 1/2 or 1 mile. If you stay back and gradually increase your pace, you will pass a great majority of those…

You can't do anything for him. If he doesn't want to eat it, he won't. And it shouldn't be on you to make him. If he wants to "diet" (terrible word btw), then he'll come around in time and realize he has to eat whole grains, fruits and veggies, healthy fats and lean protein.

I would take any advice that your personal trainer gives you about running with a grain of salt. Unless he has any sort of running coach credentials? He might not be qualified in any way to give you advice about your foot strike. Be careful with overhauling your strike. You should be cognizant of how you run and how you…

I LOVE my FT60. The sole reason I got it vs. the FT40 was because of the footpod/GPS compatibility. I bought and used the footpad a lot, I used it for C25K, and lots of 5K and 10K training. Then earlier this year, I bought a Garmin for half marathon training and I love it. If you don't want to use it for the distance/speed…

Do it, you'll feel better...even if you're still over.
-
It might not make you faster, but it'll keep you alive longer. So win-win-win! Best of luck!

I had to run 12 miles on the treadmill Sunday...injuries and the heat index made it a bad idea to run outside. My furthest run on the treadmill had been 10K before that...so I more than doubled it (ended up running 12.5). I am not an indoor runner and mentally, it's hard for me to run and not move/see new things/feel the…

I usually use the recumbent bike and do some strength training/stretching. I'm not a swimmer, but swimming is probably the best cross-training for a runner...no to low impact.

Got the OK to keep training for my marathon! And to start playing soccer again in the fall. YESSSSSSSSSS! Then I ran out and ran an "easy" 4 mile run in 100+ degrees....yeahhh overall 9:12 pace, which is fast for me on easy/hot days. Let myself go fast to celebrate! Have some nerve damage (unexpected news) and the…

Wishy washy month for me. Did start training (and am on week 3!) of my marathon training; did get in 96 oz of water about 90% of the time; saw a PT on Saturday (phew, just slid that in) and am going back today. SURPASSED my mileage goal and ran my first 100 mile month; and majorly failed with the strength training. Gotta…

I vow to be better in August keeping up here. I feel like I got SO little done this weekend in terms of home maintenance and cleaning. Went to a free yoga clinic and free physical therapy clinic at my running store yesterday. I also bought 2 pairs of Yankz for each part of my running sneakers :) I've been having major…

Well I see it as buying vs. renting property, really :) And then with the issue of your child and daycare...I say buy! Make sure you are doing strength training though, so get some weights/resistance bands/ketllebells because just cardio isn't going to make you fit/strong!
