  • I jumped on the scale the morning after I got back from my mini-vacation. It was actually up less than I expected, but I also know that probably 1/2 of my "gain" is water retention due to high sodium and not enough water. Better to know what you're dealing with than assume the worst...just hop on! :flowerforyou:
  • I've heard mixed reviews about the Kettleworx program. I would start small and make sure you like working with kettlebells before you invest. I started with a Danskin kit (5 lb kettlebell and Gin Miller DVD) and have progressed to more weight and more challenging moves.
  • Never tried it, but you need a chest strap to get accurate results. Get a Polar with a chest strap for around $80. Better accuracy and you'll see better results.
  • Thanks!! Looks like I need to do some more research into 405 w/HRM vs. 410! I'm already excited for the snow to melt and to start running more again!!
  • I just started it about 2 weeks ago! Love it so far! I'm not solely doing TF though, so it's taking me about 2 weeks to do 1 week on the schedule!
  • Hmm. I've been looking at the 405/410 and seeing that there's not much of a difference between the two. I'm not big on training via heart rate (particularly when it comes to running) but would like to be able to know my heart-rate/calorie burned information even if it's off a bit. I'm so used to being able to know my…
  • Well I do have the Footpod as I was just getting into running when I bought the FT60 and wanted basic distance/speed info. I've learned that it's not super accurate and really meant for overall training. Although it's a great HRM, it leaves quite a bit to be desired in terms of training for marathons - I want the…
  • Depends on what model you have. If you have a model that works with the My K-Cup, then no it's not too expensive and all you need to do is buy the My K-Cup ($15/$20). But if you have one of the smaller brewers and have to use the k-cups then yes, probably too expensive. I have one cup a day and put Dunkin' into the My…
  • I was at 118.6 pre-Holiday fun, now I'm at 119.8...definitely think part of it is water retention, but I'm in my range of 118-123 (I did slide it down). I'm logging whatever I see on the scale on the 30th as I want to see my "end of year" number. Either way I'm down about 30 pounds since this time last year, so no…
  • I've seen mine go up to 203 during a race. My normal running heart rate is high 160s-low 190s. For TF workouts, it only gets as high as mid-160s, but it honestly depends on what I'm doing. My asthma controls my intensity usually.
  • I take it you work for Teddie? If so, can I get some FREE peanut butter...ha ha! I go through 2 jars a week (1 at work & 1 at home).:smooched:
  • People who want a massive number of friends, offer no support and comment on your status to "one up" you or show-off. I came here to lose some extra pounds and get healthy, I didn't get here to brag all over the place about my accomplishments and starve myself to get to a 00.
  • Tradition was delicious cinnamon buns, but my family has turned our big Christmas meal from a late lunch (3ish) to a brunch (12ish). Suits me just fine, as I get ham, mimosas and other deliciousness. So probably just cottage cheese and a banana post-run (hopefully I can fit one in!)
  • I request people who seem to be encouraging (see them support other friends) and those who don't bs or make excuses. I've become a lot more selective with those I accept friend requests from as I've had to delete friends who I find aren't here for the right reasons.
  • First half (actually 2 halfs) and first full in 2011 for me:heart:
  • I'm right on par. Have actually lost about 3.5 pounds since I posted that...so I've just moved my maintenance range down - was at 120-125, now it's 118-123 because I'm at 118.6 :blushing: I'm actually planning on running 2 1/2 marathons, and will start training February 27th (March 1st is a Tuesday).
  • Conditioning and diet - you can run 300 miles a week, but if you consume too many calories or the same amount that you're burning, you're not going to lose no matter what. Cross training is VITAL to long distance running - particularly strength training, you have to work different muscles (and give your running muscles a…
  • Yeah I don't get the running shoes with jeans either. I do it ALL the time on the weekends, particularly when running errands as I have a bad ankle. I'm not one to commit fashion faux pas either:smile:
  • I made these for a work potluck last week: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/tomato_basil_skewers.html Easy and very few ingredients!
  • I don't think substituting a candy bar (is that what it is?) for an English muffin is a good idea. In terms of peanut butter, try and go for an unsalted natural peanut butter...Trader Joe's has some good almond/sunflower/peanut butters. I love Teddie's peanut butter, but I believe it's only distributed in New England.
  • Bitter? Please explain what you think being bitter has to do with my reply?! I'm frustrated with people not doing searches. It's not that difficult to search and respond to a thread where people with a similar interest are already engaged in a discussion. At least I don't think so...
  • Hi all, I'm a MAJOR spaz brain today. I'm not even going to try and reply to you (trust me, it's a good thing) as I'm super slap happy/random/ADD today. I hope everyone is having a fabulous week! I only have a three-day work week:drinker: I was feeling just off yesterday and when I got home, my stomach/head were just…
  • Hmm. Well what does he like? Any inside jokes that you could play off of and get him something related to?!
  • Beer? Dunkin'/Starbucks gift card? DVD?
  • To make it a bit healthier (you might already do this), swap eggs for egg whites and applesauce for the oil the box calls for. Pumpkin! Another option if you want the white cake mix, is to just go to the store and exchange it. If I buy cake mix, I go for spice cake mix and add pumpkin to it.
  • My cat interferes all the time. I whistle (he comes when I whistle) to him when I'm lower to the ground so I can pet him and he'll get satisfied and go lay back down. He also lays on my stomach/back when I'm doing any core work. I see it as extra resistance, but he gets p*ssed when I have to get up. Oh and he tries to leap…
  • I almost forgot... CROCS:sick:
  • I think pantyhouse are out in terms of going out to parties/out to a bar, but for an interview, they're definitely in. I say rock the tights! I agree with denim/denim and sandals with socks. Brown and black? UGH. Not talking tan and black, but (chocolate) brown and black...sorry, but no!
  • I've always had bigger legs, even for a "thin" person. Distance running has greatly improved my muscle definition and trimmed a few inches off my thighs. My calves have really toned up as well. I also dance, strength train, and do Turbo Fire and pretty much mix up my exercise on a regular basis. Squats and lunges (make…
