About 3 lbs. Would have lost it, but I ate maintenance the next couple days, so it took about two weeks. It was after a nearly 7000 cal binge- day.

There don't seem to be any added benefits to "organic"- at least as far as documented scientific research that I've read. It has a good placebo effect, sure, but that seems to be where it ends. Organic is another buzzword people like to throw around. Everything we eat is organic! It all contains carbon and that's all that…

Because life is too short to be unhealthy! Love this idea!

Sorry to hear about the gain! I'm sure you can lose it all and keep it off! Feel free to add me- Log daily and love to motivate!!!

If you're a beginner, you'll experience muscle gains for up to a year before you have to worry about having a caloric surplus. That being said, if you go about 200-400 calories over maintenance, you'll experience significantly better muscle gains(10 lbs in first year vs. 25 lbs of muscle).

Definitely both! If you aren't at a caloric deficit, you won't see fat loss. If you are obese and you begin exercising, you may see some initial fat loss as your body re-compositions itself to deal with the external stress factor, but otherwise it won't happen. If you just have the caloric deficit without counting macros,…

The amount of calories individuals burn at rest can differ by as much as 30 percent- even those with the same amount of fat, lean body mass, and regular activity level. The best way to decide how many calories to go with is to eat at maintenance(or what you think your maintenance is), track the changes that you experience…

Strength building primarily occurs within the 3-6 rep range, best with 3-6 sets per exercise. Hypertrophy of the muscle, which is what causes increased muscle size is most common in the 8-12 rep range with 3-4 sets per exercise. Anything above 12 reps, except for certain muscle groups will be endurance training and not…

Good idea!

Alright. Thank you for the advice. I'll try that going down to .5 lb per week. I appreciate it.

The leading cause of adult obesity is childhood obesity. Once fat cells are on our bodies, they never go away. They shrink, but they never go away, making it harder for those who lose weight to keep it off. If you can find a way to make the healthier option seem like the more fun option, perhaps that will help. Good luck…

Good luck Esmee! Congrats on starting your journey!

Thanks! That confirms a lot of what I've been thinking and it really helps to have someone else say it! And I bought a digital scale about half a year ago and it's been a lifesaver. I don't know how I made anything before! It's so much easier to way out recipe ingredients than rely on guesstimates for amount of flour,…

Maybe you've always been bloated, but got really used to it?

In all likelihood, you are probably gaining muscle mass while losing the fat- this is especially common for people who are doing steady state cardio in the 30 minute to 1 hour range who have not been exercising continuously for a year. It is also probably mostly water. Taking measurements is a good way to continue to see…

Sounds like a great motivation tool! I'd like to be put on the wait list! Preference for Slytherin, but I'd take anything!
