  • Great attitude! Keep on pushing!!!
  • 157.6 today
  • They are high in sodium. I eat them for lunch sometimes. Don't worry too much about what other people think, unless you have asked for them to evaluate your food choices.
  • Why are your calories set so low? I was under the impression that men should have 1500 calories at a minimum - that would be net calories. Try eating more for a week or 2 and see if that helps you start losing. Sometimes it seems weird to increase calories to lose weight, but it does work.
  • I think for me it was 19, then I dropped from a tight 14 to a 10. (I went shopping for 12's about 2 months ago, 10's about a month ago, and getting ready to shop again for 8's.) Although I can't seem to budge on the shirt size (XL to a L, but I don't notice much difference on shirts yet.)
  • My gripes at the gym. *The lady that comes in and changes 3 TV's to watch while she is on the elliptical * The guy who changes the TV channel before asking if anyone is watching it. *The guy who switches back between 2 machines 5 or 6 times, but never wipes them down in between for someone else to use. * The guys who drop…
  • Good for you! Keep it up! Before you know it you will be walking 3 or 4 on a regular basis
  • Never tried a diet. Grew up watching my mom try every diet out there and ending up with more weight than she lost. Swore I would never 'go on a diet'. I worked out 4 or 5 days a week when I was in my early 20's along with being a waitress in a busy restaurant. Other than that I had tried counting calories (on paper by…
  • I believe it will depend on your age and weight. But when I do the elliptical for 20 minutes the machine tells me about 250 calories. I am 42 and weigh 158
  • Missed the question yesterday, so I'm answering it today. I would say Wii Fit, which I often don't count and it often I do it on my rest day. I also love swimming and playing in the pool. Beginning to love the elliptical (although it has taken awhile to get to that point) And I love, love, love doing 5k's. Although for the…
  • 158.8 today
  • July 22nd measurements: Waist..... 33 Hip....... 37.5 Breast ...41.5 Thigh......22 each Bicep.......12 each
  • Mountain Dew. Still drinking it, but only 1 a day instead of 6 or 8. May have to go back to not drinking it like I did when I started on here.
  • A new wardrobe! I have lost a few sizes already and dont have much that fits. Dont want to buy much until I get to my goal. Maybe I'll even be brave enough for a bikini (would be the first one I had since high school)
  • My clothes not fitting well, and having to buy larger sizes. Knew I needed to do something but didnt know where to start until I found the app for my phone.
  • The heat factor was the first thing I thought of also. Do you take water with you on hot days? Also wondering if some dog treats in your pocket might encourage her to want to go - maybe the treat at the halfway point?. I know my lab will do anything I ask if there are treats involved.
  • You can keep it going on one thread for 20 pages, then it will automatically start a new thread. The link will be at the bottom of the last post on the last page. It will be in 'my topics' if you have posted on it recently
  • I agree. Exercise is very important - both strength training and cardio. I love that my muscles are beginning to be noticable. More muscle also means you burn more calories while resting. Not to mention the boost in energy and the loss of inches (and sizes) that you will enjoy when you begin exercising on a regular basis.
  • MFP is designed to have you lose weight even if you are not exercising, the caloric deficit is already there. If you exercise it gives you those calories to eat back. Some people on here will recommend that you don't eat the exercise calories, others will be adamant that you eat them. I personally usually eat most or all…
  • Welcome! I know I was getting more and more upset with how I looked and how my clothes fit before I found this site in March. For me this site has made a world of difference. I'm down 25 lbs, several inches and clothing sizes, have more energy and confidence than I have in years. Good luck on your journey! You will find a…
  • MFP estimates your BMR (the calories you need to survive doing nothing but lying in bed all day), then gives you a calorie deficit from that when you set your weight loss goal per week. if you say you want to lose 2 lbs per week the deficit is 500 calories, if you set your goal at 1/2 per week it gives you a 250 calorie…
  • I know what you mean. I have had that experience a few times since I started this in March. (As a matter of fact the last time we went to DQ I got a mini blizzard and only ate 1/2 of it- then got home feeling ill.)
  • If you aren't doing any strength training I would begin doing some. Lunges and ab crunches would be a start. (although you might see an increase in the scale for a few days - but it would be water weight from your muscles repairing afterward.) Vary your workouts, and make sure to take a rest day or two a week. My workout…
  • If you log your exercise calories burned, then then the calories burned will show up on your food diary. It automatically adjusts your food goal for the day (and below the totals it will tell you that you've earned xxx amount of calories that day) Give it a try for a week or two. Sometimes it seems backwards to increase…
