  • I have no idea where this is coming from, since I did not complain about unfairness etc. I am asking for practical ideas that have helped other people feel fuller while slightly reducing calories, and make sustainable changes. If others have found such ideas, foods, routines etc that help them reach their calorie goals…
  • That could work, I am going to give it a try, both the volume eating on cooked vegetables and the added protein.
  • One last question: I have figured out that I am always hungry in the evening, regardless of what I have eaten for lunch, while I rarely feel the same way at lunch time. I have never tried skipping meals consciously (I mean, it has happened because I was too busy, but not planned) and I am wondering if it is worth giving it…
  • I am not looking for a strict eating plan, more ideas to incorporate in my diet. I realise that my maintenance calories are getting much lower than they used to be, so I am looking for ideas to stay full. I think I was pretty clear that I am NOT looking for magic solutions, just ideas that might make it a bit easier and…
  • Thank you, this is encouraging :) Back when there was a gym available, and I worked from the office, I used to split days. So I went 2-3 days to the pool for at least one hour, a couple of days to the gym for a long strength training session etc. Now it is not convenient. So I try to take a break during the day, like a…
  • Dancing is forbidden by the doctor as it require rotations that make things worse :( I still do it occasionally because I like it but I shouldn't.
  • Thank you for the tips, I have never used wrist weights before, so I had no idea how they feel :) I cannot cycle at all, I have an ankle with arthritis and this is a forbidden movement. I can walk and do some light running and jumping, but if I get carried away (which I often do) then it hurts for days. I do "normal"…
  • I do anywhere between 30-60 minutes of cardio per day, which I consider low impact even when occasionally it includes some running and dancing, so 200-300 per day? I also do almost daily either pilates or some dumbell/bodyweight training but I rarely log that as I doubt it burns any significant amount of calories.
  • So every second day you exercise for a total of 4 hours? And in between you walk for 3 hours? Why? You say you cannot do legs at all, yet you walk for 3 hours? Also not sure why you think 3 kilos per month weight loss for a person who is not even overweight to begin with is moderate loss, it is extreme. I understand…
  • Masks with filters are strictly forbidden in any public place in many countries as the protect the one who wears them and spread the virus around. Even if it is legal where you are, it is dangerous to everyone around you.
  • If the goal is to protect others, a simple surgical mask will do. If you want to also protect yourself, there are disposable N95 (this is for Europe, not sure what it is called in US if you are there) masks without a filter, but the problem is they are not that comfortable when you are getting hot, and I am not sure you…
  • I have an ankle that suffers from severe arthritis and will never recover, and I also suffer from problems with my elbow that comes and go. What I have found to work for me is a combination of swimming as cardio (I started with very poor technique and the key is definitely to start slow) and pilates. After the lockdown, I…
  • Wine in moderation works for me. I get one glass as treat most evenings and it is enough. I do not bring the bottle with me, or it can easily add up, I just get one glass and leave the kitchen
  • Does it involve walking across town carrying a large watermelon on each side? If yes, definitely log it as walking and add the weight you carry to your own weight. If it is walking 2 blocks with 2 bottles of milk, 10 tomatoes and a dozen eggs, do not bother logging anything.
  • If you are concerned about your eating habits, ask your dr. MFP default targets are random numbers.
  • I used to have this problem a few years ago, because of carpal tunnel syndrome, so I had to get treatment and recovere before resuming exercise. But what happened to me is not necesserily what is happening to you.
  • Find a workout you like. I exercise to take a break, if the exercise has the opposite effect, you need a different routine, sport, class etc
  • Tricep push-ups. I know you set no push-ups, but still, tricep push-ups :)
  • So and so. Age comes with problems for many, obviously not all. A 20 year old is far less likely to suffer from several illnesses that decrease mobility than a 60 year old. Does this mean that all 60 year olds have physical limitations? No, same as there is a percentage of 20 year olds with limitations. But it is not…
  • No, it is because of lifestyle, not age. I exercise daily, plus have a hormonal disorder (too high testosterone) whose only positive effect is that I am putting on muscle easier than other women. Right now, I look more or less good, even though at the high end of a healthy BMI, because I am muscular, definitely defined…
  • First ask your dr. If there are limitations for an injury, you need to respect that. I have a past injury preventing me from doing some moves. If I push through, I will not become better at it, I will become disabled.

  • Gymnastic rings? I am impressed! What plan do you want to follow with the equipment you are getting? Having a plan on what you will do with the dumbbells, and knowing of course how much weight you can lift in different exercises, will help guide you.
  • Praline, and I mean this kind: where you basically start with caramelised almonds or hazelnuts, or even peanuts, make a powder out of the result and add it to custard based ice cream. I could live on this.
  • Burgers. I tried first a couple of years ago and was surprised how good they were.
  • If you expect him to become a vegetarian and refuse to have meat in the kitchen, you need to change your expectations. If he is literally controlling what you can eat, you have a serious marriage problem.
  • Back when I was much younger, like early 20s, I had a naturally higher metabolism because of age (I just did the math, age alone has cost me 150 calories :( ) , and I was walking a lot, since I was studying and also working downtown, meaning I was almost all day away from home (no family obligations yet) and it was far…
  • Yes, exactly, 1460 to be precise at the moment. And the previous poster suggested 1400-1500 as goal to lose. Which would not work for many of us.
  • Hard boiled eggs. I like eggs, but there is something about hard boiled eggs smell that makes me want to run far far away.
  • Haha, this was interesting. Considering I have arthritis and even dancing at a party is strictly forbidden, being called a cardio queen was something I was not expecting to hear ever :p Not that I understand why being called a cardio/strength/dance/swim/lifting/"whatever form of exercise" queen is an insult.
  • In the end, it is up to how you feel about your knees. Some people like me are proactive and do not push through pain (as I have learned the hard way to be honest). Others like someone after think "my knee is shot, no big deal, will get a replacement eventually". So, it is up to you what risks you take. If it were me, I…
