I have T25 and it is great. But 25 lbs by the end of the year is a huge goal, even for someone who has a lot to lose.

Its really a no excuses, fake it til you make it with the exercise, just go with it kind of thing if you want the results. Its very easy to talk yourself out of doing the right thing for yourself. If your mom makes certain things for lunch, bring your own lunch. If your only means of exercising is to walk in a stroller…

This. I often think that when I see ANYONE running, especially in inclimate weather or less than perfect conditions. Don't let them get you down. I put my headphones on and don't pay attention to passersby unless they are too close to my personal space.

I agree. People are dumb. I eat at my desk most days and eat a huge salad with chicken or something along those lines. Sometimes veggies and fish. Inevitably someone will say something about "trying to make everyone feel bad" because I'm eating healthy. But on the flipside, if I have a day where I eat a burger or something…

Two weeks is way too soon to see discernible changes unless you drop a ton of water weight and just feel better in your clothes. I'd give it thirty days or even more depending on how much weight you have to lose. I had to lose 50 lbs before I started seeing big changes and buying new clothes. I'm sure you don't have that…

I think that as you get older you tend to be less jealous unless you are placed in a situation that warrants it. For example, if I see a woman who is dressed nicely or looks good I tend to think *good for her* or admire how her outfit is put together. If I love someone's shoes I tell them. If I see someone lifting heavier…

I like the drink packets and the Mio water flavorings for when I got bored with just plain water. My favorite is a generic one from Wal-mart called dragonfruit. The other is Dasani pineapple coconut. I did go through quite a few I didn't like to get to those. One thing to keep in mind, there are artificial sweeteners…

I've had the same problem off and on for the last two years. People are just adverse to change in general and it makes them insecure, I think. My husband is fit and athletic and has been his entire life, but never bugged me about my weight. After I lost it; and became a gym junkie, it seemed to bother him more and more. I…

I could have written that. I lost weight while consuming alcohol AND chocolate; very much in moderation. A little too much of it lately (Looking to get 10-15 more pounds off) but tapering back to one day a week. As far as motivation, all I can say is you just have to fake it til you make it. My motivation comes and goes;…

What kittyhasclaws said, kinda. I got my black belt after I lost weight (or during the process) and I've won some sparring matches; but I'd like to win the whole shebang at our local tournament at least once. That would require me beating several people in a row.

Hmmm. Problem is if I have one glass I typically have two and then I typically finish the bottle. And that possibly leads to Crown with diet coke if its a Friday night....... Seriously though I use most of my exercise calories for wine and/or whiskey.

I considered the fitbit as well but ended up going with the bodymedia fit. I love it. It makes me move more when I see how many steps I have in for the day, etc. Plus it syncs up with myfitnesspal so I can keep logging my food this way. Over a few months period it has been very accurate as far as weight gain and loss. I…

I have found that, over time, BMR and TDEE are pretty accurate as an average. When I have logged my food religiously and as accurately as possible, and have worn my bodymedia fit (I had a bodybugg before, and an HRM prior to that) and kept up with that, my weight loss averages out with what mfp and my bodymedia fit site…

You can definitely do it. I have been a working mom for 18 years now. I didn't do it for a long time, and I've come to realize the excuses about no time were MY excuses -- my kids would have been fine if I were happier. They are 9, 13, and 17 now and have crazy busy schedules. I work fill time as a manager of a…

Hypothetically, you'd be close to the same weight, I would guess. I think your metabolism would be better if you had been eating better foods (high protein, etc) all along. I have a friend who has lost almost the same amount of weight that I have - close to 80 lbs. I am 5'10 and she is 5'9. She is a confessed fast…

My mom has had knee surgery and a broken hip and she works out an hour a day, five days a week, in the pool. I don't know if that is possible for you....the pool at her gym is heated and then she sits awhile in the hot tub after. I do agree if its a matter of weight loss food is going to be 80% of it, though I also believe…

I think it varies depending on the situation at hand. My husband has never been overweight, and he has always been athletic, so I can't imagine him gaining a ton of weight. BUT - he does NOT eat healthy and I see that eventually catching up with him. I have tried to get him to conform to *my* food but years of eating a…

oh, and as others have said - don't have it in the house. I don't. If I want wine, I have to go buy it and make a special trip. I don't pick it up at the store when I am shopping for the week. That just makes it a little bit harder and more of a consideration - its easier to avoid the temptation.

I don't know what your normal habits are, but I don't think three glasses of wine qualifies you for AA unless there is something deeper there. I understand alcohol leading to bad food choices because that happens to me all the time. The hardest lesson in weight loss and fitness (to me) is learning to let go of the perfect…
I'll say. My grandmother used to wear a size 12 and now that I'm a size 8-10, I still don't have a prayer of getting into them. My cousin, who wears a 4, can get in them (though it requires some sucking in).
Agreed. I was a size 9/10 in my early twenties and I am an 8 now - and I was 20 lbs lighter then…

Greek yogurt. Half a toasted muffin with cheese, turkey, tons of veggies and salsa. Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to the oatmeal with fruit.

I have no argument with you. If I had 800-1000 calories per day to spare, I'd likely choose wine or tequila vs. pop-tarts, but then I probably wouldn't get up at 5 am and go to the gym, so not a good situation for me. I do bank my calories for the weekend indulgences. If I could up my burns to 1300 a day I'd be much more…

Good for you Sue! I am not a running fan myself but I do make myself do it occasionally and I had to run daily during my black belt test so I had to work up to it. MUCH easier at 155 lbs than 255!!!

I wear a BodyMedia Fit and my average calories burned with NO workout is 1800 a day, and on gym days, 2200. Can be upwards of 2500 depending on if I run or not. Right now, I am trying to create an 800 calorie deficit per day because I want to be at 155 or so, so I have ten pounds to lose. Once I start building muscle again…

I agree - I was looking for the "wow' results of former seasons. I did think the mom of four (Lisa?) looked fantastic and toned and she was obviously losing still at 138. The cop looked great and so did all of the top 5, especially Danni. I thought Joe, the older guy and former athlete, looked like he was much more…

You should be able to go in under the "track exercise" portion under the exercise tab and search for jogging - find the pace you feel you go at and enter the time spent, rather than the miles run. I personally think MFP overestimates most exercise so I will generally cut the calorie burn by 10% or even 20% depending on…

Something else - log everything at first, especially if you aren't seeing results. I got away from logging on the weekends and when I finally made myself start doing it again, I was shocked at the calorie consumption, even though I know the drill. Something I did when I first started working out - every day, I had to do…

And Srirachi tastes good on pretty much EVERYTHING!

the more you post and interact, the more friend requests you will get. There is a ton of great information on the site through the search feature depending on whether you are looking for help with calories, protein, exercise, etc.
