  • So sorry about your boyfriend. I am in for Dry January. All of my weight gain is alcohol related, I have the food thing under control. So I am cutting alcohol and starting to exercise again. I need to lose 30 lbs before my birthday in April and a trip to Costa Rica.
  • What's helped me is having a weekly calorie goal rather than daily and it doesn't matter how I get there. I also have the all or nothing mentality! So if I plan on eating 9000 calories for the week, if I have 2500 one day and 1000 the next, ok. If I have 3 glasses of wine instead of dinner, fine. I'm not saying it's the…
  • I'd like to join. Been researching keto a few months and have tried it intermittently and I feel like it could work for me. I have 30 lbs of weight regain to lose that has crept up on me over the last five years or so. Paleo and low carb worked for me in the past and so did IF so I think this could be my thing.
  • I'm 48. I'm in for the New Year. I have 30 lbs of "regain" to lose from the original 110 lbs I lost six years ago...very slow, crept up on me at about 1/2 lb a month. But I'm totally dedicated to losing it, have a plan and ready to go.
  • I would definitely agree going to the gym and/or doing any type of physical activity motivates you to keep going; but weight less is absolutely more about calories in/calories out. It takes me two miles of jogging to burn 200 calories and I can stuff 200 calories in my face in less than three minutes, or a day can spin out…
  • I'm definitely not starving myself, lol....just finding it hard to stick to a plan motivation wise and was intrigued by keto because I know low carb has worked well in the past. I'm about five days in now and have the initial five pound water weight loss; just trying to stick with low carb, count calories, high protein,…
  • No medical issues here, just sick of my extra 30 lbs. I did very well on low carb before -- was looking back on my food diary from 2011-2013 and I was about 1200-1600 calories a day, high protein and less than 70 carbs daily. I lost 90 lbs in 9 months; but I was also exercising about ten hours a week. Thanks for the input.…
  • Thanks for the input. I think your last paragraph is kind of where I am at. Its much less stressful for me to know I can get lunch on the fly if I need to or go to someone's birthday celebration and have a vodka soda once in awhile. I also like wine (although I've given it up for the next 90 days) and frequently do winery…
  • Interesting. If it could up my loss even 1/2 a pound a week I'd be willing to try it. I'm finding, for some reason, losing 30 lbs is harder than the 100 I lost previously.
  • I am recommitting after being on again off again wishy washy and gaining and losing the same ten pounds three times in the last year. Prior to that I had a very small, very steady weight gain of 1/2 pound to 1 pound a month, and well....here I am. I am 5'10 and in good health, just starting working out again. Highest…
  • I'm in. I'm new. Used to run 2-3 miles a day in addition to weight training and got out of it. I'd just like to start moving more, so I'm down for 30 miles for the month starting November 7th. I have a recent (July) knee injury so my running will be a slow jog combined with walking on treadmill at first.
  • My problem has always, always been the evenings. I can find motivation to work out in the early morning and eat healthy and drink water all day at work....then evening rolls around, my guard goes down and even if I eat healthy I eat too much. So...my solution? I don't eat dinner anymore. At all. I guess I'm an all or…
  • My stats: Highest weight recorded 267 Current weight 186 Height 5'10 Age 45 Starting size 24/26 Current size 10 Plan - I eat whatever I want and stay in calorie range. Try to eat clean 80% of the time. Two a day workouts right now until kids go back to school because I've slowly gained 22 lbs over the last two years and I…
  • Lost 100, gained about 20 back, down 5-7 so an additional 15 to my original low weight and I'd like to lose 5-10 beyond that. Working on it everyday. Its easy to get off track! The key for me is continuing to exercise NO MATTER WHAT and always log my food even if I overdid it or got off program.
  • It works for me. For whatever reason, I never want to eat in the mornings or right after the gym. If I hold off and have an early lunch (11-11:30) I easily stay in my calorie allotment for the day because I tend to want to eat more at night.
  • I very much understand. My experience is similar to yours. I've lost a good amount of weight and would like to lose about 13 more lbs, but I am at a normal weight for my height. I've put on a good deal of muscle that is visible in my upper body but harder to see in my thighs and core (where most of my weight was) because…
  • This. Its all good TV. If it were my job for six months to work out and lose weight; and I was in the top three at the end, I could probably go to the extreme to put $250K in my pocket. I don't think it means she has an eating disorder, or even that we won't see her in a few months time a little bit heavier. Also -- in my…
  • Love the show and I'm not vested in any one person winning -- I just love to see all the "afters"..... Obviously its not a real life scenario but I think its great to see people change their lives in such a short time and learn so much about fitness and food. And I'm jealous that its not my job to just worry about working…
  • I would say if something is working, keep doing it. During my weight loss, I went through periods where I would not lose for 3 weeks or so and I'd get very frustrated -- but I'd stick with the plan and maybe switch up my exercise, eat more protein, drink more water....and the following week I'd drop 3-4 lbs. Like my body…
  • My advice -- give yourself a break from the scale. DO "total compliance" to your plan, keep exercising, and weigh after about 3-4 weeks of total compliance. Drink plenty of water, and definitely weigh your food. That was eye opening for me, and I bought an electronic scale that is very accurate (in comparison to the old WW…

  • My tailbone hurts when I sit at my desk too long. I am also cold most of the time. No one calls me "The Tank" anymore because I can't do 12 shots and keep going. I really can't even do 2 anymore. I never see the hot pizza delivery guy I used to be good friends with. If I miss two days in a row at the gym, people start…
  • If I know I am having lunch out, then that will usually be my most calories. Otherwise, its dinner, because that is when I am the hungriest, the least busy, and seem to want to eat the most.
  • I had a bad sprain and foot fracture (hairline) that I got from jogging and stepping off a curb and simply rolling my ankle. I couldn't believe how painful it was. My advice for you? LOW IMPACT. It stinks to walk on the treadmill or substitute running for the elliptical or bike, but it works just fine and the long term…
  • I feel like I look older. Overall, from a distance, I'd say younger, but the weight loss in my face has made me look a little older.
  • The Exorcist and The Omen, but I saw them as a child and I think that had some bearing on it. Recently? I saw some movie named Hostel and it freaked me out because of the torturing.
  • 5'10 and looking to lose 15-20 more to be in the 150-155 range. I have been there and felt very comfortable there, size 6/8.
  • I'd like to join the cool kids club, I meet the age criteria. :) I've lost almost 80 lbs but I have 20 more i'd like to lose and its proving difficult. I haven't given up or gained weight, but I'd really like to go into the New Year with only ten pounds to go instead of twenty. I have no problem working out hard and my…
