This is a problem I've been plagued with, especially if my daily intake is closer to 1200. I checked your diary and noticed that you're not tracking your fiber macros. I would recommend you switch your settings to track it for a bit. I had assumed I was getting tons of fiber because I ate a lot of lettuce and salads, but a…

I usually do at least one class a week. It burns a ton of calories and is great fun. It's also a great ab and booty workout.

If you lost 9 lbs. in two weeks, you probably really are eating only 800 calories a day (not just logging incorrectly), which is too little, as everyone else has said. I'm also curious stats -- height, weight, and age. These all determine what you should be eating to lose at a reasonable pace, at .5 to 1 lb. a week since…

Why are you worried about too much protein? Are you experiencing kidney problems? If you're breastfeeding and active taking care of your little one, the protein is a good thing.

I'm 5'1.5" and 56, around 120 lbs. I eat around 1200, sometimes more depending on exercise calories. I lost at the beginning, but can't get below 120. I am a bit stocky, though, so while short, I'm not really a petite build.

I just had to post this link to a joke for you postpartum ladies, especially any who have hubbies who are complaining about your new shape. My hubby sent this to me. http://www.hrtwarming.com/hsband-made-fun-of-her-behind-after-giving-birth-to-their-firstborn-but-her-reply-made-him-regret-it-bigtime/

But isn't corn more "evil" than wheat? Not that I'm even interested in eating paleo since it seems that so many foods are excluded. Maybe that's why people lose weight on it -- there aren't too many things left to eat since we can only eat what the caveman ate...and what was his average life expectancy?

At your age and height, 1200 is too low. I'm eating around that, and I'm 56 and only 5'1.5" and around 120 lbs.

I meal plan, but I don't pre-log. I actual have two diet meal plan books I use to plan breakfast and lunch (one is a diabetic meal plan book because hubby is diabetic). I plan lunch most days because I have to bring my own lunch. I also plan snacks. Dinner I tend to plan a bit less -- I may make a larger or smaller dinner…

I think after a certain age, women's faces look better if they are on the higher end of the normal BMI or even slightly overweight (not obese, but around 26 or 27 BMI). Often women who are 45+ who are excessively thin or lose weight quickly look more wrinkled or gaunt and drawn. The fat does fill in the wrinkles a bit and…

Perimenopause was horrendous, but menopause was great. The hot flashes and night sweats stopped when my periods did. My periods even prior to perimenopause were awful -- painful and very heavy. During peri, I couldn't leave the house for two days. I became so anemic that I couldn't donate blood for two years after…

It's because of the cholesterol in the eggs, but unless you have a cholesterol problem, I wouldn't worry about it. Most doctors now say that the dietary cholesterol in eggs is not that harmful, compared to the nutritional benefit they provide.

I'm 5'1.5" and around 120-122. I'm a medium to large frame with big shoulders, so I'm not one of those gals who can get to 105 lbs. without looking emaciated. I can't seem to get below 120, but have made a lot of progress getting more defined. I'm working back into upper body work due to a shoulder injury and hope to get…

I find it a relief not to have to track and count, for instance, if I travel where I don't have consistent internet, or have a couple busy days of workshops, teaching, and catered meals. However, after about 2 years of counting, I do have a constant awareness of what's in my food and what are reasonable portion sizes and…

I'm 5'1.5", and it is hard to get enough protein on 1100 or 1200. Try to get at least the RDA of protein, which I think is around 45 grams for a female, but ideally, you should be getting closer .8 to 1 gram per pound of lean body mass. I weigh around 120 and try to get in the 80s; I didn't do too well today because I was…

From what I've read, you can't build muscle on a deficit and at 27 years old (and from the picture you look like a fairly tall gal), 1100 calories is pretty low. I eat more than that on active days, and I'm old enough to be your mother and also petite. That's typical intake for someone who is sedentary. If you can open…

Depending on where OP is the menopause spectrum, she could very well be maintaining on 1200 calories a day. If I have a sedentary or even lightly active day, I'm maintaining on around that at 56 years old, 5'1.5". Regarding the magnesium/weight loss relationship -- magnesium citrate can act as a laxative, so that poster…

Depending on the instructor and class, it works other areas, such as glutes and hamstrings (in bridge-type positions and leg lifts), chest and shoulders if planks are incorporated. One instructor where I go uses weighted balls, as well as rings. Some of the scapular work is excellent if you have shoulder injuries, some of…

It's a great core workout and good for toning that area if you have already lost a good amount of body fat from your abs. It doesn't burn too many calories, though, so I'd supplement with cardio.

MFP says I should have around 21 grams a day. Yesterday I had 13, the day before I had only 7 (I had eggs rather than cereal for breakfast). I just bought some of those flatout breads because my supermarket had a two for one sale. Thanks for the tip! Although people think salads have a lot of fiber, there's only 1 or 2…

I had the same symptoms in the winter. I thought it was due to a couple of gel manicures, but stopped getting them and symptoms only got worse. Mine would break down below the nail bed and my fingers would even bleed. I started to increase my protein to 35% of my macros and also am taking biotin which is a good supplement…

Menopause does slow down the metabolism. You can lose weight and be fit, but you must be more mindful about everything you eat because your body doesn't burn calories as quickly it did when you were younger. I've been able to maintain a decent weight, but in my younger days, I could drop 5 lbs. by giving up dessert for a…

I'm 5'1.5" and 120 lbs. I'd like to be around 115, but haven't been that thin since I was in my 30s. Before kids, I was around 105-110, but very thin. I have a bigger bone structure, as you can see from the picture. 98 lbs.is pretty tiny -- I was there in late high school and college, but constantly sick. It's at the very…

Doesn't "skinny fat" apply more to how the fat accumulates on the body as to actual body fat percentage? I'm a 56 year old woman who is 120 lbs. and 31% body fat. I've always had a curvier figure; even at a lower weight, I had a bust and hips. In fact, I've seen many women in better shape than I am, but much more body fat…

It sounds as if OP is already fairly active without going to the gym. If she is significantly overweight or obese, just losing the weight is going to vastly improve her health and negate risks of getting things like Type II diabetes, heart disease down the road. Obviously, exercise reduces risk of osteoporosis, but OP is…

I'm 56 and at around 1200 a day. As to the commenter who said that 1200 is starving, if you are smaller and post-menopausal, the metabolism slows way down at that point, and that may be all this woman needs. I use a fitbit HR, and my typical calorie usage on a less active day is less than 1200. If OP posts her stats…

I just flew first class (hubby has all kinds of perks). The minute I sat down, I was offered a glass of champagne. A half hour later, a bowl of warm cashews and almonds. As I relaxed to an in-flight movie of my choice (a chick flick set in England -- lots of beautiful scenery, including handsome male lead), I was offered a…

Height 5'1.5" Weight 120 Bust 36" Waist 27" Hip 36" Don't have a thigh measurement -- I never measure that part because I don't have trouble fitting into jeans and such there.

I've been doing a kickboxing class for a while. About every 2 months, the instructor works out a kickboxing routine that also utilizes a step. I wear a Fitbit Charge HR, and I have to admit, I use about the same number of steps and calories for both routines. So try them both and pick whichever one you enjoy more. I found…

I have a glass of wine most nights and I log it. Sometimes it does make me go over by 100 calories or so but I can't bear to give it up.
