Nice. I just bought a cheap Walmart pack and some trekking poles this morning. I got a 60L, 2.5 pound pack for 23 bucks. And twist to tighten aluminium poles with cork grips for 24. I'm trying to buy 75% of my gear 2nd hand or from Walmart. Those will qualify.

I guess that beats not being able to stop hitting the booze :D B) Unless of course you were oversleeping because of not being able to. . .. ah, never mind.

This is what I did today.

Can't remember. Blueberry something or other would be my guess. Old picture.

Hey guys.I did the whole house cleaning thing today. Just wrapped up supper and now I'm heading to the camp. We have finally got some cool weather so I'll do a couple hours hiking tonight. Cool weather for my location that is. It's 59F now, going down to 40F by morning. See ya later, bye.

You just did. Post away.

One of the You Tube AT thru hikers this year plans on doing the foam rollers, as well as other recovery methods, while on the trail. https://youtube.com/watch?v=qEqKgVxr560&t=166s

They use more bark for landscaping up north. It actually works a lot better than pinestraw.

It's 77F here in NW Florida this afternoon. Crazy warm weather this winter.

Yep, it's mainly in north Florida, Georgia and Alabama. We started planting pines in the 80's when the government was encouraging folks to take land out of row crops. Most of our land is in pines now. Not a lot of money in it, but it keeps your land taxed at agricultural rates without having to actually farm row crops. The…

For landscaping. It's a big business down here where there are hundreds of thousands of acres of planted pines. In most cases you make enough to pay the land taxes, even on poor land. Like any commodity, there are grades of pinestraw, with Longleaf Pine bringing the most. Those trees were on a conservation program for 15…

What's been happening at the Larro Ranchero? Funny you should ask. Just sold the pinestraw a couple weeks ago. Looks like a good crop this year.

My everyday breakfast is plain and vanilla Greek yogurt, granola, Kashi twigs and nuts [or what ever is on sale}, soybeans, pumpkin seeds, flax seed meal, protein powder and grapes. I've cut back the amounts until it's down in the 420 calorie range. I did this for a couple three years at 600 odd calories.

A couple three weeks ago on my birthday I had {rotisserie} Chicken Parmesan Fettuccine and Spinach Pasta with a good strong cup of Colombian coffee at an exclusive spot.

I"m back for now. Been doing a lot of hiking, so that means hiker food. A couple three weeks ago I took an overnighter for my birthday. Started the day off with grits, eggs and coffee.

I'll be glad to have you, but I'm not a good MFP friend. I spend way too much time outside, and not near enough on my keyboard.
-
Glad to see you are still doing well. Keep up the good work.

Nothing but mountains can prepare you for mountains. In the next county over, Torreya State Park has some ups and downs, but there is no hills to speak of around the Larro Ranchero. I got in almost two hours this morning with a 16 pound pack. Also did a couple hours of night hiking last night.

Hey. I saw you were in training for your BSA hiking trip. That should be a fun trip. I can't do heavy packs for very long. My feet bother me if I get over 30 pounds. I should say my feet bother me more. They always hurt after a day on the trail.

We got it yesterday afternoon. Big storm with lots of wind and rain. We were without power for a couple of hours. But we just heard that a classmate of Sister was killed when a tree blew down on him. His wife is also Sister's classmate as well as a coworker. Sad day today.

Make green beans and stir-fry your new comfort food. A couple three years ago when I was serious about weight loss, I started just about every meal with a bowl of veggies, then would eat my regular foods. It worked for me. Good luck.

Hey guys. This fellow has an interesting story. He was up to 500 pounds at one point, and now he is in training to hike the AT. He is one of the funnier You Tubers that I follow. Give him a look. https://youtube.com/watch?v=ujbjSVhDI_8

Hey guys. Long time no see. I'm still alive and kicking. For the last 6-8 months I have had the hiking bug in a bad way. My days are so full, I've been doing a lot of night hiking. I'm trying to keep my pack under 30 pounds, but I do love my "stuff", so it is a challenge. I've been recording some of my hikes with my GoPro,…

Sorry I have been AWOL so long. I'll try to post some meals soon. I'm spending a lot of time on the trail, so it might be Spam, instant potatoes and Ramen noodles. I was jazzed to see this thread was still alive.
