So I went out and bought a new cheap dial scale and it weighed me 5 lbs more than my old one. But I'd step on it again and it would read something different almost every time. I returned it. That's what happens when you buy a scale for 7 dollars from Walmart. My old one is years old but I always make sure it's calibrated…

I've been reading about digitals being more inaccurate because everything from the temperature to the battery life has an effect on how the scale reads.

I only weigh myself once a week I am not obsessive about it. I've gone to walmart before months ago to weigh myself on multiple scales and used a dumbbell for accuracy. Every time the digitals weighed me more than traditional. Sometimes 10 POUNDS more than the regular scales. It's weird.

Oh yeah I get it. It is heavy as heck to me when I am lifting that amount lol I know it's a decent amount of weight. I can see a difference in me. I just want to be at my goal NOW. The wait is killing me.

Thanks. I know I am doing it the healthy "right" way for the first time in my life. In the past I would go through cycles of starving myself and losing a ton of weight fast, and then of course, binging and gaining it all back. I am for the first time ever actually losing weight the right way and am happy about it. I just…

Not sure what you mean but I am weight lifting around 13 to 14 pound weights now.

So next week when I get my paycheck I am going to buy 15 pound dumbbells. I already got a 25 pound kettlebell to use mainly for lower body and swings. My question is, if I can't see the difference in my body with weight training until I lose the fat....what is the reason for me to weight train now and not after I lose the…

And not sure if I had a medical condition or not. I was just A) overweight and B) naturally very weak. I had NO muscle tone when starting. Never have my whole life really. I didn't eat any protein rich foods either or to my weight training.

@ sara4fitness What weight would you recommend for lower body? I am currently using a 20 pound kettlebell. What should I increase it to? Or better yet, what do YOU use for lower body?

Thanks guys! I'm glad it's not hopeless! Let me clarify a few things: first off, I eat plenty and healthy, protein filled foods. My diet is not an issue. Second, I read up on weight training where they said if you cannot lift past 8 reps then that is the weight you should use. For me, it WAS 5 pounds. I literally was so…

Boobs. Figures..

Thanks guys :) And how long to you recommend doing them? See I am used to high impact cardio for longer duration.,,,I do tae bo for 40 minutes or more. But people always tell me 20- 30 minutes of kettlebell is enough. It feels like a brutal workout don't get me wrong, but I have it in my mind that longer = better results…

Well, I'm female, 5'4 about 157 lbs looking to lose 40 pounds and be toned. I bought a 20 pound kettlebell and was told it builds muscle and makes you lose weight as well depending upon the moves you do. I do swings, squats, some lifts etc. So far for 20-30 minutes with breaks in between of course.
