  • Hi Amy! I, too, have had some success in the past, only to gain everything back. I know exactly what it feels like to buy new clothing in smaller sizes, only outgrow them again. I'm starting to make some progress again thanks to MFP -- not only the tools, but also the awesome community here!
  • I was put down by some family and peers much of my life for being big, so I can definitely relate. Thanks for the wonderful encouragement!
  • Got a little misty-eyed reading this. THANK YOU for sharing!
  • 1-2 personal training sessions *might* be worth it go get you started. I tried it several years ago when I joined a gym for the very first time & it was really beneficial. They helped me figure out what to do when I'm at the gym and taught me how to use so many of the machines/weights there. I partnered with my mom for the…
  • I absolutely love my NutriBullet. I was specifically looking for a blender that was powerful enough to blend fresh vegetables, so I didn't have to use my juicer to break them down anymore (a much longer process, lots more clean up), and the NB handles very well. I have never owned a VitaMix, but I would say the NB is…
  • ^^ Edamame is a great idea! I've been doing a broke *kitten* charcuterie lately, haha... I use string cheese, sliced salami, & some fresh fruit. I also like apples with almond butter, crackers/veggies to dip in guac, and cherry tomatoes stuffed with goat cheese.
  • Yes! This is a great idea, love it!
  • MD recently told me to drink half my body weight (lbs) in water (oz). So if you weigh 100lbs, drink 50oz water/day. You can figure out the metric conversions from there.
  • I did a 5-day juice fast once, and actually enjoyed it. I don't know that I would say there was anything cleansing about it, but it did feel good to know that I was only putting great things in my body. Now, as anyone will tell you, the weight loss (10lbs for me) from something like this isn't permanent. However, there are…
  • Oh, one more tip for meal plan/prep. Enter the food you prep into MFP ahead of time. For instance, yesterday morning I prepped lunch, dinner & snacks for Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday -- and I entered everything into MFP for all 3 days all at once. So I knew right away where I stood for the next few days with calories &…
  • I agree with a couple of the other commenters. Setting an alarm for yourself could work great. Maybe once every hour for a few ounces, or less often if you can chug more at one time. Working it into a routine would be great also. Drinking a bottle as soon as you get to your desk, as you're settling in for the day. Drink…
  • Fast food used to be a big issue for me. When I was at my last job, I would pass a Jack In The Box everyday on my way home from work, and too often I couldn't resist (grrr, now I'm thinking about chicken strips, curly fries, buttermilk sauce & an Oreo shake!). Anyhow... I went in so often, multiple cashiers knew my order.…
  • Too many, unfortunately. A couple of years ago, I was with my extended family & family friends on a vacation in California. We were at a theme park and I couldn't get the safety bar clamped b/c of my size. (Thankfully my uncle stepped in to help and I was able to ride. It was embarrassing enough, I can only imagine what it…
  • YouTube has some pretty great options. Lionsgate BeFit is probably my favorite for volume & diversity of options. I'm sure everyone can find something they like on that channel. And I think The Lean Machines channel would be great for dudes ;) If you have Amazon Prime, quite a few of the Jillian Michaels DVDs are available…
