  • In same boat. Very slow going since June 2015. Lost only 17lbs in 8 months, but still have hope.
  • I am in exact same boat - there are nights when I just cannot stop eating, and its not just sugary food, its just any food. Now I try to drink a glass of water, or start reading a book or try to do something that I love. Trying to distract myself - it helps some times. Also being aware that its happening happens, then I…
  • Personal, family reasons that I don't want to discuss here. I am fairly independent and able to cope with living alone in general. Its only the transition days that are really bad for my food addiction, and I am totally off my routine and it takes days to get sanity in diet back.
  • You could start with filling your profile so that others with similar goals can friend you. How are you approaching your weight loss - calorie counting? working out?
  • 2 weeks without eating chocolate #SmallVictories
  • Mine is chocolate - I am addicted to it like alcoholics, I can never eat just one square, I eat full bar and then find it harder to go for second one. I also sometimes go into binge cycles where no matter how much and what I eat, I just want more. Still do not know the trigger for that.
  • Happens sometimes - I would recommend working out. Works for me, makes me feel better both mentally and physically and then I am less likely to fall off the wagon completely.
  • Exercising definitely helps - even going up and down stairs or 10 min fast walk can help.
  • I hear you. I also went from a very happy 120 -> 175 due to change in lifestyle and increase in stress etc. I kept trying to go back to when I was 120lbs and follow the same lifestyle. I just could not. So much had changed in my environment and of course in my age that I could not follow the same lifestyle and get same…
  • If you are out of home and doing lot of skiing it can throw off the diet, unhealthy good choices and wanting to eat more because of vigorous exercise.
  • Me too. Are people inspired enough to create a accountability group?
  • Totally agree with above post. My trigger is chocolate and there are 1000+ times I have told myself, just one bite and before you know the whole bar is down and I am craving for more. So I gave up on moderation. Though I still give myself a day of (controlled) indulgence once a while, I mark it on the calendar and make…
  • Keep walking, and force yourself to work out (safely). Soon it will become a habit.
  • The key is to push through those times when scale is not moving and remind yourself that eventually it will. I keep getting stuck in similar situations - scale is moving - great, I am very motivated. And then scale stops moving and I see myself feeling - what's the point, might as well have that chocolate bar. Last time I…
  • Thanks for pointers so far. Where I live I have no friends, most of them have moved elsewhere and I don't feel like bothering them with my problems anymore. I did lot of talking with them in last few years. I do a lot of activities - running marathon, biking, sewing, blog writing, but lately I have lot interest in them…
  • I guess I should add, one of the reasons for not being able to resist tempting food is because the job is quite stressful. Mid-day, I am all stressed, and I go for the cookies. End of the day I am definitely stressed and tired, so I am eating an ice-cream. So free food is not the only reason, but its a factor
  • Your profile does not mention what is your current weight and height. Is it possible that you are already at your ideal weight, from there its very hard (and not advisable) to reduce more.
  • I run a lot, I run a half-marathon every year, and some full-marathons. I can't say that I love it, but I do miss running if I am not able to do it for a week. For me the key is to run outside, and also get to a point where all I am thinking about is the act of running and everything else is out of mind. Its really…
  • It makes sense, and we all do it at some point. BUT - think about what it implies. It means that you are letting that *kitten* control your life. Due to his bad behaviour, you are suffering. And what is the effect on him, absolutely none. Don't indulge in guilt and self doubt. You did not do anything, it was his problem…
  • So sorry to hear about your terrible experience. You are very brave and you will get over this. After reading your post, it seems you have become paranoid, which is very understandable given what you went through. I would suggest though get over that first. If you have other girl friends, talk to them, ask them do they…
  • {{{{}}}} Sorry you are going through this, and with a new born. Now you can use yourself and your children as motivation. You are not happy with the way you look, so change it for yourself. Look in the mirror and see yourself at your goal weight, looking happy and proud. You will also need energy to fight for your…
  • When you hit plateau, its time for a change. Change your exercise routine, a different type of cardio or add something like pilates or yoga to it, or do more weight lifting.
  • I have been at it for 9 years now. Dropped 30 lbs, then pickup 40lbs. I am into so many bad habits that I can't even count. I am starting to take the advice of changing one thing at a time for 3 weeks (28 days) before moving on to changing the next. Friend me if you want to break some common habits together.
  • My biggest excuse is same - no time, though I have no kids, no responsibility, I always make work an excuse. I want to stop doing that.
  • I run a half-marathon (and a full once) for charity (Asha for Education) every year.
  • 119 lbs is a HUGE victory, celebrate that! When hitting a plateau, try changing something, like pick up a new exercise routine or make some change to your diet. Don't give up, you know you can do it.
  • "Because of feeling so crap about myself, I have resorted to binge eating. It’s stupid, I know, but I just feel like I've messed it all up anyway so I may as well eat till I feel sick. I always lose weight and then binge eat until I'm obese again. "I am trying to break away from same habit. I joined this site a while ago.…
  • I am fighting the exact same thing every day. I am addicted to sugar, the worst kind, so whenever I see ice-cream / cake or other desserts after meals, I cannot stop myself. I have noticed that quitting cold turkey works best. If I take even a small bit of dessert, I will end up eating a lot more. Still struggling, but…
  • Did you just start your training? I run marathons, and am also thinking of going for triathlon now. Whenever I start a new training, some weight gain just comes from gaining the muscles and body storing some extra fat to prepare for the new challenge. Focus on the clothes and how they are fitting rather than just scale.
  • How did you do it? I am in one for last 10 years, it was great for the first 5, but last 5 have been really demanding. We kind of care about each other, and have lot of fun when we travel and do things together. But daily life is a drag, I am constantly unhappy and stressed around him. I find him totally unsupportive of…
