  • I've never heard of it either. I'm super skeptical when it comes to "diets" or certain ways to eat. Eating at a deficit & exercising has been the best way for me to lose weight.
  • You look fabulous! What a great inspiration!
  • I'm not necessarily going for a specific weight, but I'm trying to get to 18-24% body fat. If I hit that range at 170, awesome, if it doesn't come until 150, that's fine too. I know that I weighed about 175lbs in 8th grade & was pretty close to thin. We'll see when I get there. I do know one thing for sure, what you weigh…
  • Welcome to MFP, it's a great place to find people working on the same issues. Good luck on your journey!
  • I feel you. I was so gung ho for 6 months & the last month it has just petered out a bit. I've been trying to get remotivated by spending a little time on the forums and I just keep taking it 1 day at a time. I feel like the emotional plateau will give way if I keep going, just like the weight one will.
  • What's her name?
  • Literally everything everyone else has said. And make MFP an inegral part of your life. I feel like the more time I spend here the more time I stay focused on my goals, when I'm too busy, I forget to read the forums or celebrate my friends' victories I start to go off the rails. I just discovered this group for those of us…
  • Hugs to you QT, how boring our lives would be without our batsh*t family members. lol
  • Headache, lightheaded/dizziness, growling stomach/stomach pains, weakness, extreme crabbiness, difficulty concentrating.
  • From what I understand no one can make this decision without sober consideration. At least when insurance is involved you must meet a strict list of criteria to be considered for coverage. My Dr. suggested WLS to me last year. I decided to try to lose weight through diet & exercise after seeing several friends & family…
  • Welcome to MFP & good luck on your journey! :)
  • Cute & congratulations!
  • I think you could be overweigh & healthy, but it's definitely not going to last forever that way. Being overweight definitely puts you at risk for a myriad of health problems and the longer you are overweight, the more likely you are to develop said problems. I was overweight & healthy as hell for a long time & then…
  • Oh my gosh, so much missed this past week. Jen: I'm so glad you're ok! I had a seizure a few years ago when my migrane meds interacted with my bp meds. So scary & now I'm obsessed with checking on this stuff. Plus, I had to take Pharmacology in Dental Hygiene school & you'd be suprized how many of my patients were taking…
  • What keeps you motivated?
  • I used to think the exact same thing, but I realized I really didn't try anything for a significant amount of time and I didn't really try the only thing that actually works, which is to eat a deficit and to exercise my body. I didn't really want to do it, I mean who the hell wants to diet & exercise? It's not easy & it's…
  • This ^^ absolutely!
  • [quote=Hey, with the ranch dressing - see if your stores have Bolthouse Farms Yogurt dressings. I usually hate 'diet' dressings, but I have found these to be SO GOOD. They have a 'Classic Ranch' and a 'Black Pepper Ranch' that are delicious. Here are the nutritional stats on the Classic Ranch: 45 calories for TWO…

  • Eh, I get what you're saying. Certainly less fat & calories in an actual banana than banana muffin, but I love banana walnut muffins. Also, I recently had a bad food poisoning experience with bananas, so I'm going to go with the muffins for awhile.
  • Me too! I was thinking that exact same thing when they came out with the "Premium" feature.
  • Well, 40 is a little ways down the path, but not that far, tbh. You can add me if you'd like, I'm on every day & I do stalk my friends who haven't logged on in awhile.
  • Welcome to MFP, Van!
  • [quote= Wouldn't you have to be stick thin for your inner thighs not to touch though? All I can think of is stick legs. I'm a big girl that could never have a thigh gap so maybe I'm just not visualizing it correctly. [/quote] I was thin as a child & my thighs still touched. I've always had short, thick legs even when I had…
  • Welcome to MFP! I hope you can find the path back to health & happiness! We're all here for you!
  • Well, it was a toughie. Definitely did not eat great this weekend and I am shocked that I put up a loss this morning. I had to get on & off the scale 3X to make sure I was reading the number right. Back on track today though. I hope everyone's holiday was fabulous.
  • I'm sorry your sisters are such B******s. My sister has always been thinner than me our whole lives but she has never made me feel bad about it. I never really realized how awesome my family is until I came on this website & started hearing about people's own family members making fun of them. Jeez!
  • Hi Ashley, welcome to MFP! I recommend checking out the forums. So many great tips on fitness, diet, recipes, just getting through the tough parts of losing weight. Good luck! :)
  • My final straw was a couple of things. Big family reunion last summer in which I was only in 2 pictures because I was parked on a picnic bench all day which started me thinking about how I was missing out on my life. Then right around Christmas I was reading Where's Waldo with my 4-year-old nephew, who had to stand next to…
  • Wow, where has the time gone? I really wanted to be down 50lbs. by now, but I have to say that I'm pretty proud that I've continued to lose weight fairly steadily despite a few bumps in the road. I hope to be down a total of at least 75lbs by Christmas, which is about 30lbs away, so I think that's an attainable goal.
  • You can eat some "junk food" and still lose weight if you eat a calorie deficit.
