First, admit the situation sucks. Second, get ready to stretch your dollar and improve your cooking skills. There have been some good tips on here about getting bulk, food pantry and sale items; these are all good ideas. But what you'll want to do is get all the cheap stuff prepared into meals that are both healthy and…

Most people on here aren't happy with how they look, but in my personal experience shame has been an enemy of progress. Take a deep breath and put one foot in front of the other. You've already made the hardest step by getting started here. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Congratulations. This kind of story inspires all of us!

Nice work! Congratulations.

I'm similar to you; I love playing sports and being active, but I love to cook and eat just as much! I've had some success making healthy meals as a challenge. You can't top some of the unhealthy delicacies, but I've expanded my skills through healthy recipes. Good luck.

Breaking your goal into tiny actions that you can perform daily or weekly can really help you get to where you want to go. It can also make an insurmountable goal seem much easier. I suggest everyone do this!

I don't know any specific sites, so I'm not much help there. However, what I've done is learn how to cook, not make recipes. If you figure out how to make a few healthy dishes, it goes a long way. I've made a lot of low calorie meals in a crock pot because it is so simple and hard to mess up. I'd look into getting one of…

Nice work... it feels good, doesn't it? I've gone so far as to donate the older shirts so that I can't go back.

I've fallen into that trap... in fact I'm currently trying to dig out of it now. I think one key is to keep yourself busy and away from food. When it is available and you're bored, it can get bad. I'll add you as a friend and hopefully we can help one another out!

I don't know much about this either, but I'm interested. Besides what pops up on google, what have you been using for a resource?
-
Good luck! I can't wait to see the final results!

My crush besides you?

Call your doctor! It may take a while to get through and get an answer, but it sounds like you've got a while. If you can't make it outside or get any meaningful exercise, find some tasks to keep you busy (and keep your mind off of food.) I'm sure there is some low-stress activity that you've put off for years that you…

I've been there but what I don't worry about it. Use those thoughts to motivate yourself at the gym and to motivate you to stay at your goal when you reach it.
-
Nice work, you look great!

Don't worry, I've done this many times. I've actually found that if I put it into my calorie tracker, I'll realize two things: -It isn't as bad as I thought -I can work around it No need to be discouraged, if you realize that it is a matter of 3000 calories to lose a pound, even the biggest slip up means very little in the…

Welcome! Good luck!

You've definitely moved yourself back into the "smoking hot mom" category. Keep up the good work!

Congrats on getting started. This site has been great for me; I hope you can have similar, if not more, success.

If you have an Android phone you can get a free monitor that tracks your time moving, speed and track. It is called MyTracks. I'm a big fan of it. If you've got an iPhone, I'm sure there is a similar app for a few bucks.

Watch calories and exercise. But most of all stay positive. This seems like a big deal, but it really isn't. You'll be able to overcome this obstacle. If you are able to drop some weight while you're on the medication it will be great. If you're unable to, you'll at least be staying even and primed to excel if/when you…

Congratulations to both of you! It is great to see you guys taking those steps forward toward where you want to be. Keep up the good work and I'll see you out running soon!
-
Great work! That isn't a minor success, it is you reaching a goal that you set for yourself. Keep building on your success to reach your final goal!
-
Nice work... keep it up!

My fast vegetarian standby is getting some veggies and polenta and throwing them on a George Foreman grill. It is super easy and delicious.

If you've got a food processor, hummus can be really easy and cheap to make at home. You can also adjust the olive oil, tahini, and any spices as you see fit.

Congratulations on your impending departure to college as well as your commitment to being in shape when you arrive. It'll prepare you for the completely different lifestyle you'll be living. Best of luck! I won't be attending school, but I'm also looking to drop some weight by the end of the summer, so I'd be more than…

Just get a hot dog and call it a day. If you move into the choco banana area, you're asking for trouble.

Keep yourself busy. If you're doing things, you won't have time to get down. Besides that, learn to cope with setbacks better. It isn't the end of the world to have a bad day or week.

This is what I do: Sandwich and an apple. Purchased and prepared the weekend before, so there is no hassle or planning. I err on the side of too much food (albeit healthy,) so I don't hit up the vending machine. In addition, make a reminder to yourself to bring the lunch each day until you're in the habit. Don't make…
